This blanket is made using fifteen shades of yarn, the colours are inspired by the Yorkshire moorland in late summer when the hills are covered in vibrant swathes of purple heather.
The blanket measures 120 cm x 170 cm, although I've given instructions if you wish to make it bigger. One yarn pack (15 x 100g of Stylecraft Special DK) is enough to make this sized blanket. If you are making it bigger, you will need two yarn packs.
I've used my go-to blanket-making yarn - Stylecraft Special DK which is a premium acrylic yarn in generous 100g balls. I love the blankets that this yarn makes, they are soft and easy to look after, but most importantly the yarn itself is a dream to work with. I shared my Moorland blanket journey here on my blog at the start of 2017 - this project was worked as a CAL (Crochet-A-Long) over a period of 8 weeks, for those who wanted to make a blanket along with me. The Neat Wave pattern that I designed especially for this blanket was inspired by the undulating waves of colour seen in the summer landscape where I live in North Yorkshire. Both the pattern and the colour information for making this blanket is all here on my blog for you to access at any time, for free.
The making of this blanket was very special, with a fabulous creative community of crocheters joining me from all around the world. I loved every minute of this journey, and the resulting blanket is one of my most treasured makes.
