Blogtober Day 2 :: Monday
I wanted to share these photographs with you, taken just over a week ago towards the end of September.
It was a spontaneous after dinner trip, in response to a very sudden urge to get outdoors and grasp the last hour or so of daylight before night descended. We used to walk round this reservoir a lot when the Little People were much smaller as it's only a few miles from home. It's just the sort of easy destination that will encourage J and the Littles to follow my lead and head out of the house in the evening, purely for the pleasure of experiencing the sky and the light and feeling a little less trapped by the advancing dark hours.
We spent about an hour here, taking photos, listening to the geese calling, throwing pebbles into the still water, bench sitting, chatting and enjoying each others company. The levels of joy I feel when I get to see my Teens enjoying simply being outdoors in nature is wonderful, and I feel it will serve them well as they grow into adults. I give myself a virtual gold star for that bit of consistent parenting over the years.
I took the Starbright blanket with me, literally grabbed it off the sofa on my way out the door. The light wasn't really good enough to take many decent photos of it, but I absolutely LOVE to see a bit of colourful crochet set against a landscape backdrop. I'm so looking forward to sharing the Starbright blanket journey with you tomorrow - it's going to be a brightly coloured affair, you can be absolutely certain of it.

This blanket is just a burst of happiness on the fence! I wish we were closer to the fields and forest as you are. We are on the edge of the city, but the sprawl continues still for miles so there is no immediate retreat. Hard going for someone who grew up on a farm!

Hi Lucy, your photos are truly amazing, worthy of a photographic competition I think! Thank you for sharing them. I’m very excited to find that you are doing blogtober again and will look forward to catching up with you each day.

It looks so calming and peaceful. I bet it's so quiet you could hear your own heart beat. De-stressing at it's finest. Wow.

Again Lucy thank you so much for sharing your lovely photos & narrative. I read your blog when in bed last thing at night before sleep. A lovely way to end my day - thank you so much 🤗 xx

P.S. Two of the greatests gifts my mother gave me were the love of books, and the love of nature. Likewise, your children are fortunate to be growing up with the things you love. Your Gold Star, so well deserved, shines brightly, indeed.

Oh my goodness, your photos today are breath taking! Absolutely breath taking!
And your beautiful Starbright blanket. . . I have your Aria pack in my closet, waiting for the cooler days to come so I can feel cosy underneath it as it grows. Looks like I may have a bit of Starbright in my future as well.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this when your life is so hectic. I was brought up in the freedom of the 1950s West Country and always turn to nature. My boys (now 41 and 43) were brought up on the outskirts of a city but we were lucky to have a park with lakes to enjoy and they still enjoy the countryside. The elder is a Duke of Edinburgh Award leader inspiring the next generation.

If I lived where you do, I would be heading out the door too! It’s beautiful and so is your blanket.
