Mid August :: 14/08/22 :: 8pm
A spontaneous drive up onto the moorland to take in the sunset and the heathery scenery. It wasn't an especially good evening for viewing a sunset because heavy rainclouds had started to roll in by the time we got there, but I'm sure you'll agree the colours were still amazing. It was a memorable hour at the end of an ordinary, slow-paced Sunday, a time for us to pull the Little People away from their screens and head out in search of colour and light-filled views. How lucky they are living out their childhood surrounded by so much natural beauty!
These high moors are just four miles away from the Attic, and I always make a point of visiting every August when the heather is at its peak. It's part of my personal floral calendar (along side the likes of snowdrops, wild garlic, blossom, buttercups and bluebells), and I think it's so good to appreciate the colours that bloom throughout the different seasons. I really like the natural connection to the ebb and flow of the year and can't imagine a life where these things pass by unnoticed.

That is amazing. I live in a valley with mountains all around me. I can only imagine such wide open spaces. It’s stunningly beautiful. The colors are just amazing. Isn’t God wonderful. Thank you for sharing.

Your pictures remind me of our lovely holiday in North Yorkshire a few weeks ago. The heather on the moorlands was beautiful.

Exactly why I made your Moorland blanket for my sister who has found memories of living at Lee Abbey on the edge of Exmoor on the North Devon coast. Thank you for your photography and your inspiration
