Well hello my lovely friends, it's really good to welcome you back into the Attic after my little break and I'm sorry that I've been MIA for so much of the summer. Blogging can be a strange thing at times - most often for me, creating a blog post is as easy as breathing but there are times when the desire to share and connect deserts me completely and there are just no words to be found. However, I've learnt over the years not to worry too much when these quiet, introverted periods arrive, or to try and dig into the why's and wherefores of it. I know that it will pass, and the time I spend away from my blog is usually necessary for my wellbeing, even though I don't often realise it until afterwards.
The past few days I've been feeling a very strong pull to return, and so here I am. I had a whole heap of photos sitting in the fluffy cloud so I spent some time organising them and copying them all onto my laptop. I then enjoyed a little visual reminder of the past two months or so, crikey, it was a revelation! I had forgotten so much of what I've been up to, haha....my memory is really shockingly bad but it's one of the many reasons I love to document my days here on my blog. Anyhow - my Summer has actually been pretty wonderful (in a very quiet, mundane sort of a way) and now here we are tipping gently into the Autumn season.
There is so much that I would have liked to have shared with you during August and September as I continued to take photos most days even though no words wanted to chatter along with the visuals. But I started to feel really over whelmed by the idea of trying to "catch up" with so many weeks of summery comings and goings, and overwhelm is never a good route back into blogging. So today I made the decision to just open my Attic window wide and let the fresh air stream in and not worry about the weeks that have been and gone. I'm focussing on the here and now, and today it's been absolutely bloomin' gorgeous!
As you can see from the photos, we've been blessed with stunning weather today. The top photo was taken this morning as we were walking into town to run some errands and enjoy a quick coffee in one of our favourite cafés. It was one of those golden, misty, mellow mornings which shouted AUTUMN in capital letters, so perfectly, wonderfully seasonal. Mid morning, J and I drove out into the Yorkshire Dales to walk around Grimwith Resevoir which we haven't done since back last year I don't think. It was so beautiful, oh I just lapped it up with my heart and soul, it was October at it's absolute best. We stopped half way round (it's about a 2 hour gentle stroll) and sat on a wooden bench to drink hot coffee and enjoy the extensive views across the water. We've had such a lovely day enjoying the simple things in life, and I couldn't have been happier.
So.........you may have wondered at the title of this post...Blogtober eh? Well it came into my head this morning as I was pondering on the whole notion of it now being October - I remembered that in years gone by, Blogtober used to be A Popular Thing. It's not a thing that I've joined in with before, but having just completed a month long photo challenge on Instagram where I posted an image every day during September (more on that another day), I feel inspired to carry on and give that same commitment to my blog throughout the month of October. So a new post every day, for thirty one days. Yes!!! I'm really liking this idea!! Of course this being me, there are absolutely no guarantees and no plans in place, so I shall be winging it all the way. I'm not doing this challenge with anybody else (does anyone still blog these days? Do blogging challenges still even exist?), but just for myself I felt like it would be a fun thing to try. I anticipate that some days will be quite short and sweet, and other days I might have a whole lot more to say. I hope you'll enjoy visiting with me to have a peek at what I'm up to each day, I'm actually rather excited by the whole idea of daily chats in the Attic.
And on that happy note I shall love you and leave you......until tomorrow! Yay!!!!

Ps. Great to see you back. I love your tales. My old chap is also from Dorset, Langton Herring I used to hope to see you on the beach with your blankets. We used to visit Bridport, West Bay and of course the Hive cafe.

Lucy I have the same trouble with my hands give Turmeric a try I cannot believe the difference it has made. I tried it in desperation not expecting for one minute for it to work but after a few days I realised my hands weren't so painful and I could crochet and knit again. It doesn't get rid of it completely but it does help!

I'm so glad you're still blogging. Nowadays is just Instagram but there is just so much you can share through it. Myself I used to blog and I'm not anymore.. but I guess that as more to do with the fact that now I have 2 little people to look after.
Your blog posts never fail to bring joy to my day. I'm looking forward to a brand new post everyday!

Nice to see a post pop up & welcome back to blogland. Yes, some of us do still blog & I for one, don't use any of the other media on offer. Call me old fashioned, but it's more of a diary of what I've tried to achieve. Thanks for taking us on your walks. Have a lovely weekend, take care, stay safe & huggles.

You could just post pictures and the day's date and that would be fine. I still blog when I really have something to say or share. I do IG too and I have loved your posts over there.

Yes Lucy I still blog and so do many others but not as many as before it's sad to say, most have gravitated to instagram but somehow I just can't seem to get away with it. I can relate to your not wanting to blog for a while I stopped for a whole year at one point but I do miss the camaraderie of my blogging friends when I stop. Your photos are lovely and it's great to have you back, I'm looking forward to your daily posts.xx

Gorgeous photos, all that sunshine and blue sky. I know what you mean about sometimes being quieter, I feel the same, sometimes I am just all inside myself. A blog post a day will be lovely, I shall look forward to it. CJ xx
