♥ The bluest of blue skies today with not a cloud in sight and warm enough to walk without a coat (I still kept my vest on though, shhh, don't tell anyone). Sunny warmth is very high up on my list of happy-inducing things, and I've felt good right down to my bones today.
♥ The grass at the park is spotted with golden celandines which made me smile when we walked across it today.
♥ We took our daily exercise through the park this morning, walking up to the farm shop. We are pretty well stocked up with basic cupboard groceries and meat etc in the freezer, but as a family of five we eat a lot of fresh fruit, salad and veggies each week. I left J and the Little Peeps outside and went into the shop on my own and it took aaaaaaages to queue for the tills (keeping 2 metres distance from everyone). But finally coming out into the sunshine with a bag of fresh produce made it well worth it.
♥ Al Fresco hooky in the afternoon sun, always makes me happy! The sun stays in our back yard until around 3pm at this time of year, and I move my chair into the corner by the back door to catch the very last rays before they disappear behind the rooftops. We really need new outdoor chairs - this is a very old camping chair which is on it's last legs, but once I've draped it with a blanket it makes for a super-cosy movable crochet spot. I love this blanket so much, it's the Granny Patchwork blanket which I made in 2012/13. It's had a huge amount of use over the years, and still looks and feels wonderful. I'm very VERY tempted to make another scrappy patchwork blanket as it's a brilliant project for using up small amounts of stash yarn.
♥ A knock on the front door this afternoon, and a gift from my lovely neighbours from across the street at number 21. Their sweet Little Miss (who is around 4 years old) painted this glorious rainbow for us to stick in our window, I was so delighted! As I've probably mentioned before, our street is extremely friendly and even though we are social distancing, many of us keep our front doors open and spend time in our front gardens in good weather. It's really comforting to still be able to see each other and chat from a safe distance.
♥ With the most delicious, juicy vine tomatoes from the farm shop, I made a Greek Salad to have with dinner tonight. Crikey, it was insanely good. We had it with small baked potatoes and sweet chilli hot smoked salmon (served cold), it's exactly the type of simple food which gives me all the happy feels.
♥ Although we've had the most glorious sunny spring days this week, the evenings have felt chilly and I've been lighting the fire after we've eaten to keep the downstairs room warm. But to be honest, I like having the fire going for the cosy factor more than anything, it's just so comforting to look at and listen to. I realised earlier today that my mantel is still in winter mode, and I am really looking forward to faffing it with Spring things tomorrow. I have plans to make a simple Spring garland - I'm thinking something floral would do nicely.
♥ I hope your days are passing by gently and without drama, and that you are finding joy in life's small pleasures. Sending loads of love and rainbow brightness out to you all, take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Vest on - good girl!! Mine stay firmly in place until mid July at the earliest and are usually only off until the beginning of September! And I’m not even joking!!

I so enjoy your posts..... here in Sydney, Australia we are in Autumn, my favourite season, soon it will be winter, which is mild here compared to yours, altho we still complain about the cold! Trying to do lots of sewing, and finish things..... while being housebound.... missing visiting friends, and sewing groups. Keep safe...

I found your site years ago,6 or 7 years, quite by accident. the colors are so cheerful and your little fire place and cozy home, just make me happy. Like a distant friend, I stop by now and then to see how you're doing. Right now Im watching CNN , reading your site and about to have some Hershey kisses.

I love reading your posts Lucy.. If the rest of the world is turning upside down I always know your blog will set me right.. Love Love reading about your daily life and seeing your awesome pictures! I've seen lots of rainbow hooky going on in many posts and it's really making me want to start one. The projects I'm working on aren't happy and full of color like I apparently need right now so I'm going to be digging out some rainbow colors and starting one tonight hopefully! I've missed the Sweet Pea stitch and the Woodland so just have to decide which to do it in.. :) Children here will be going on an Easter Egg hunt and will be watching for Easter Eggs in our front windows.. It's pretty amazing that all around the world lots of children will be doing the same things in the next few weeks while we have to hunker down and stay home.. Thanks for everything Lucy, especially for a bit of normal in a chaotic, stressful world!

Such a nice post. Such a cozy nest your family has. Where did you find that wonderful tree with birds and flowers on your mantle? I can think of another mantle that would look wonderful with it.

Thanks for this. Just what is needed, you and Winwick Mum give my spirits a lift. Bought Sweet pea blanket for CAL but life got in the way. Picked it up today and the simple repetitive hooking is so soothing, thanks for that as well.

Thanks again for a lovely post Lucy. I did a great long comment on your last post, but it just wouldn't publish for some weird reason. I'm enjoying each photo, snippet of your life & the positivity you are bringing with them. Autumn here, so grey days ahead, but lovely sunshine for this weekend. My Dahlia rug is coming along nicely & keeps me busy of a night. Stay safe, take care & huggles from down under.

Decided I quiet like this slow life, the joys of walking the dog without thinking of all the things waiting to be finished at home. The weather is beautiful in North Essex too spring is upon us.

Happy things indeed! The children in our village have been doing rainbows this week, and next week they are “Going on a Bear Hunt” so we’ve all been asked to put teddies in our windows for them to search out! Xx
