About Me

  • Hello! Thank you so much for visiting me in the Attic, it's lovely to see you. My name is Lucy and I'm a happily married Mum with three children. We live in a cosy terraced house on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales in England which we are slowly renovating and making home. I have a passion for crochet and colour and love to share my creative journey. I hope you enjoy your peek into my colourful little world x

Hello Lucy! Thank you so much for sharing about the mermaid purses! I have collected some but only ever knew them as sharks eggs. I love the whimsy! My son is taking me on the five hour journey to Galveston Island in Texas on Friday. I am fired up to walk barefoot in the sand and find shells!

Your photos make me relax just thinking about the possibilities. Looking forward to the Dune pattern and colors!

Thank you for the virtual vacation. I live near the coast (close enough) but haven't made time to get out there lately. Your photos make me relax just thinking about the possibilities. Looking forward to the Dune pattern and colors!

It's SO lovely to see your surroundings, over there! In Sydney (Aus) we certainly have beautiful beaches, but LOVE yours too! Your descriptions are a pleasure to read, and the pix wonderful. We are both descriptive! I'm waiting, trying hard to be patient, for the new beach-inspired pattern. Take care of you! Xxx

Lucy, I'm so pleased that you and your family were spontaneous and headed to the coast for some time together. I can tell that I am going to join in with this next blanket too as I love the soft summery hues in that group. Bring it on!
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Hi Lucy, Thanks so much for linking back to our mermaid's purse article! Just thought I would pop by to let you know that the purses that Little B found were Thornback Ray eggcases, one of Britain and Ireland's more common species of skate. Your blog looks really interesting and I will keep following. Always loved crochet and was overly attached to a crocheted blanket called ruggy when I was a child.. :) All the best and have fun beachcombing! Sarah from Marine Dimensions

Even though I am in the midst of my own beach inspired blanket I am so eagerly anticipating your Dune blanket! How you described your creative brain itching & your need to get it expressed in yarn is exactly how it works for me too - so glad to know I’m not the only one! Have a lovely week, Helen x

Thank your son for me....he had me fasinated by the Mermaid Purses. I have never seen anyrthing like them, they look like a cross between a baby stingray and an alien. I love your blog, it always holds wonderful commentary, beautiful pictures, gorgeous wooliness and unexpected suprises. It makes me escape for a while and brightens my day!

Thanks Lucy. It’s heartening to feel the company, albeit distantly, of people who share my love of these simple pleasures. Please keep doing all of what you’re doing x

A lovely blog to read at the end of the day, a peaceful bed-time story to calm you down and dream of the seaside. Thanks Lucy xx

what a wonderful vast beach that is the sand goes on forever! I love your granny squares blanket. I am still working on the Striped Trellis - one day I will get done but I work on it in between my many quilting projects but one day - it too will be finished I love working with this yarn and these many beautiful colors that go in it. Thank you for the pattern - love visiting your blog and show progress of the yarn on my blog from time to time.
