We are on our half term break this week, and it feels rather great. We are spending our days mostly indoors, relaxing, taking it easy. The Little People were all so tired at the end of last week, so we are relishing these gentle days at home where not a lot happens. Recharging our batteries and taking a break from the routine of school and work.
I've been lounging and loafing, loving being at home with the family really. Early mornings sat in bed reading, drinking coffee, crocheting, chatting with J. Late breakfasts, mid morning coffees and toasted hot cross buns. Leisurely afternoons with the fire lit, a glass of something chilled and bubbly, some sock knitting and new blanket making (oh my Hydrangea blanket, it is giving me palpitations!). A little bit of fresh air when needed, short local walks in cold wintry landscapes.
I finished my Moorland Blanket today, the final stitch darned into the edge of The Edge. I wrote up the full tutorial for the edging and composed my CAL post ready for Friday. It's been quite a lot of work to squeeze into a day filled with Little People and a persistent kitty, and I have such mixed feelings about it all - I'm so very, very happy with my blanket, but so so sad that the crochet-a-long has come to an end. I have loved doing it, and I shall miss it.
Tomorrow (Wednesday) I am flying away for a few days, heading south. I'm not going far, just down to Dorset to catch up with my brother and visit my folks. I am so looking forward to a few days away, a bit of a stint by the coast and some family time.
The tutorial and Part 7 of the Moorland CAL will be here on my blog on Friday morning, all being well. I'll still be in Dorset then, but I'm going to attempt to set a timer on the posts so that they will magically appear at 9am on Friday morning, I hope I'm up to the job!
I shall throw a pebble or two in the English Channel and send out some ripples of happiness to you all....

I am wanting to do the sunny log cabin blanket. Is there a pattern that is translated to US stitches? Please and thank you.

Dear Lucy, I kept looking at the photo of a sock in progress and wondering if you were knitting it from the toe up. The pattern in the yarn was really intriguing. It took me a very long time to discover that you were knitting the heel flap. Silly me. I love the colors, top down or toe up!

I'm getting palpitations from the hydrangea blanket too and I've only seen a smidge of it. :) I'm SO excited to make it. *dances*

I am immensely jealous! It sounds like you've had a wonderful week full of all the things I would love to spend my time doing!

What a lovely post - I feel cosy already!
I'm off to Dorset next weekend with my mum! She will be 'opening up' her static caravan for the summer and I'm trying to decide which crafty project to take with me: paper-piecing hexagons or a new crochet kit that I bought from Ally Pally Knit and Stitch last October.
We will also be packing some wine and chocolate - of course!
Enjoy and re-fill your soul with your fix of the wonderful sea!

Looks like, as well as top-down on 9" circulars, you may have learned to knit socks toe-up on "magic loop"! Yay for all the things to learn. Love the colors (your favorites, I know).
Hope you will be glad for your trip back home with family.

Thank you Lucy!!! Can't wait to see the finished Moorland! I'm really enjoying working on mine at my slow, leisurely pace. It's been really good company during a time of some turmoil on the home front.
Enjoy your travels! I would love to walk on the coast with you!!

Here in New England, we're on school break now too - and our agenda is much the same. I'm relishing the slower pace, heading out every so often to walk the dogs, and setting aside plenty of time for crochet. Have a wonderful trip - looking forward to seeing the photos when you're back.

That sounds like a very blissful week so far, I'm glad. I hope you have a lovely break down in Dorset. It's such a lovely corner of the world. Should be nice and peaceful too, I think most half terms were last week - ours was, it's back to reality here, boo. CJ xx

That looks more like mid-morning tea-caking than mid-morning hooky - both of which are a fabulous idea for half term! ;)

Enjoy your break. I am loving making my Moorland Blanket and will be mentioning it on my own blog soon with the appropriate links to you, of course.

Love the moorland blanket it is very beautiful and your inspiration came from the moors up the road from my village but oh the thought of a hydrangea inspired blanket now that sounds perfect. Can't wait to see it in all its glorious ness. Enjoy your trip to dorset. A lovely lady from Dorset is staying in the same resort as us in sunny Fiji. 🌴🌺hopefully I will be able to start a hydrangea hued blanket when I get back to the UK. Much love. I so enjoy reading your blog. Xx
