About Me

  • Thank you so much for visiting me in the Attic, it's lovely to see you. My name is Lucy and I'm a happily married Mum with three children. We live in a cosy terraced house on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales in England which we are slowly renovating and making home. Aahh .... for the cosy comfort of a favourite chair at the fireside and a big mug of tea! We have sweltered our way through our summer months in serious Heatwave mode with days and nights so hot it makes one feel desperate, I mean 34 deg most days ... Would so swop with you right now :) makes crochet work sooo difficult !!

What heart warming pictures! Just makes me want to settle in and enjoy myself in pure quietness. Just love your fireplace Lucy with the neat garland. I just finished one and love the way it hangs with lighted green garland! Loooooove it so much! Thanks for being there to inspire.

Hello Lucy,
I hope you will allow me to write about your beautiful handicrafts. I love your crochet wreaths!
Warm greetings from Germany, Petra

Oh yes! Our new year has so far involved eating meals at the table - so important but something we don't normally do and lots of knitting and so much finishing of paperwork! Happy New Year!

Linda Ronald

Happy New Year Lucy, I love your blog so much, and like you my family and I have had a lovely time over the holidays also, it was so relaxing and the time together was wonderful. Hope you and yours are happy and healthy in 2016. x

Very cosy special days. Our log stove has also been giving much pleasure, lit earlier on dark, rainy holiday days. Good friends to stay and share our time have made good memories.

Love your blog. Rather hot here in Australia! Your photos remind me of when I was a little girl. Thank you Lucy. 😊😊

Your posts are so nice. The pictures are so calming sending us all into major cozies. Keep on keeping on. We out here are thoroughly enjoying you and your busy life, with bits of relaxation thrown in.

Happy New Year. Not so cosy here. No cuddles (apart from Grandson) far too hot. Going to be 39 today 😔😱😰. As I get older I hate the heat. Only time I get to knit on these days is when it's around 7.30 in the evening. Roll on winter here I say.

Hi Lucy love the post and yes I have toasted crumpets by the fire agree nothing quite like them. When I was a little girl after Christmas we use to look forward to a very special treat when we came home from school
Christmas cake sandwiches ! The cake was thinly cut and between bread and butter gorgeous. Love pens and planners have started my granny stripe nearly done the second row .take care love Jenny x

Thanks to you i have found myself imersed in the past time of sock knitting ... Very little else is possible during this time as my mind is occupied with aquiring this skill ...! Ho hum another year of messy house and yarncraft everywhere 😊

Kathryn at Crafternoon Treats

I finished my log cabin square and granny stripe over Christmas - such a great CAL and pattern. Glad to see that you have had a relaxing bit of time off with the family, despite the hangover... I got some fine liners for Christmas and I now understand how much fun they are. I used them today to write myself a 7 page to-do list that doesn't seem half so bad as its so colourful xxx Kathryn

So far our new year has been quite cold and windy. We have spent most of our time inside enjoying the warm and time with family. I have loved the quiet time of filled with crocheting. I love your wonderful post and seeing the blanket on the arm of the chair that I am current working on made me smile. I believe you named it Cosy blanket. :D Back to the normal routine tomorrow. Sigh.....
Much love to you and the family. xxx

I enjoyed hanging out by the fire with you. You've had such a busy year that I bet that quiet time is bliss. We've had snow and ice and fires to enjoy here in Oregon! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Because I live in America, we spent last evening watching the first episode of Season 6 of Downton Abbey! How will I live without this delightful piece of Great Britain when it's over???

No one describes things like you! Love your cozy warm hearth and mantle with all the lovely bits that reflect your charm. Blessings in 2016.

I feel positively soothed after reading your post Lucy, thank you. Xx

Winwick Mum

Time to yourself! And a crumpet, and a sock to knit! Bliss! :-) xx

Cozy and lovely x

Your knitting is looking super neat, what is the project? I love your owl by the way ;)

How deliciously cosy it looks chez vous. And that crumpet looks divine. I struggle to sleep if I overindulge as well, I know exactly what you mean. Lovely to see Little Lady's calendar, I'm a big fan of calendars, diaries, notebooks etc. as well, so I completely understand the enjoyment. CJ xx

Jean the Creative Pixie

Girls just love stationery, my 2 are exactly the same. Happy new year! Jean

Oh my goodness what a blissful setting. So cosy and relaxing.

Same here, with a little bit of reluctance to 'get back to normal'.
