About Me

  • Hello! Thank you so much for visiting me in the Attic, it's lovely to see you. My name is Lucy and I'm a happily married Mum with three children. We live in a cosy terraced house on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales in England which we are slowly renovating and making home. I have a passion for crochet and colour and love to share my creative journey. I hope you enjoy your peek into my colourful little world x

I am busy making the coastal ripple blanket at the moment and have the cottage colour kit ready and waiting for the next blanket. My question is, can I use the cosy blanket kit for the ripple blanket? What would I do about the edging?

So love your inspiration Lucy and love following your canal walks. So damn hot here in Adelaide has been 38-40C for about a week now, so I sit indoors and crochet, doing the daily temperature crochet along on FB using your cosy stripe blanket pattern.
Hope your feeling better,as moms most of us feel flat after the Christmas hype so glad you find some cheer in flowers

Unusually rainy here in the Southwest US, too, and cold. Like the ladies above, I like your rain boots and you mustn't think they are ridiculous at all. If I passed you out walking just seeing them with your lovely socks would bring a smile to my face.

I'm in Barnoldswick here so just down the road and to be honest its so grey I've not been out since Xmas day, but looked at sky today and thought - might snow! then saw the news that it had snowed in Hawes. Good job I have got my knitting and crocheting to do and my wonderful wool stash. I love the boots, now that's my kind of footwear. I'm loving the blanket, the colours are so perky and remind me of summer. xx

Where I am on the banks of the river Dee, the picnic tables have now emerged from their watery hiding place for the first time since Christmas. At least we have colourful yarn (and Lucy) to cheer us!!

The gorgeous colours of your blanket really cheer up a miserable day. Love the ankle wellies too and will definitely add them to my wish list. They look brilliant with your knitted socks - anything that brings a smile has got to be good!

Yes the weather surely has been miserable and causing so many problems for people, so a bit of gloom chasing is just what we all need loving the wellies

saw this sweater online and immediately thought of you. if you make one, please share!

Love the boots and oh so love the blanket too! :)

That wellie-sock combo is a head-turningly wonderful! x

Lovely wellies,I had a pair for Christmas,Emma Bridgewater, they are great for splashing through the puddles,I'd much rather have rain than snow.I put my pre Christmas Daffodils in a jam jar in a wall basket by my front door and they are STILL flowering away!!Thankyou for sharing your gorgeousness with us.

Love reading your blogs Lucy keep them coming love the colours in your latest blanket and your boots think I may get some myself.Knitting a rainbow hippy jumper for my husband at the moment with similar colours to your blanket they really cheer me up also when I have finished may have a go at trying to knit a pair of rainbow socks only my last attempt at knitting socks was frustrating and I gave up and bought a pair from Primark !! I can't wait to get back into crocheting another blanket also. Xx

I did not like the squares when you first showed them but seeing the blanket nearly ready I have changed my mind and will be starting it as soon as I have checked I have enough colours. I live in Cumbria and we have had so much rain and grey days I need a colour boost. I usually crochet squares together but see you are using a needle to stitch yours together.... any reason or could they be crochet together as well?

Love, love LOVE it all, except the rain! (Same here wet and more wet.)My daffodils are up in the garden, I'm afraid the crazy temps will have them blooming just when a big freeze hits and I'll lose them. Here to inspiration striking soon!x

I understand exactly how you feel. I live in Clitheroe so suffer the same weather as you. Working in bright colours cheer me up and makes me think of the summer we will possibly get.

Happy crocheting

You're right, Lucy - a walk (no matter what the weather) is almost always a good idea. Fresh air and all that.

How tempting! I am thinking I might get some of those gorgeous wellies! Thank you for the influx of colour, I am just finishing a 'camouflage' cosy blanket for my grandson, starting the border any time soon. Happy New Year.

Oh, I love those boots! I live in Canada and a couple of years back I bought a pair of purple paisley Bogs and then a pair of bright pink Bogs (waterproof boots for rain or snow). Winter is too long for boring black.

I think I'm beginning to see how blogging cheers people up as you really do feel that you are part of a conversation when reading comments from like minded souls. I love seeing all Lucy's creations and trying some out myself and learning new things. Just keep going please xx

I am from Australia and it is pretty hot here at the moment. I still have 4 square to go but never mind I will catch up. I purchased my yard from England, just love the colours. Have already made two of your other blankets and love, love, love them,
Hope the weather gets better for you soon.

Funny how little things can cheer you up on a grey day....I treated myself to some new ankle wellies (legs to chunky for the long ones lol)...Wellibob ones in Navy with white polka dots & pink trim reduced in the sale and I love them and I also tuck my leggings into my colourful socks.I maybe getting a bit old for such things but you know what.... I don't care!

Hi Lucy Jo Here the maddley happy lady who met you via your gorg pot red coat. I was so sorry not to get to Coopers mum stayed longer and was going home that day. Ahhhhh, I just got sunshine whilst typing this. Typical it was grey and tipping it down on the school walk! Oh the doom and gloom is getting one down isn't it? I bought some daffs, and hyacinths on my way home to cheer me up. Gosh I need a smile on my face. I need some crochet too. This week has been spent doing the Christmas tidy up and a deep January clean. Arrgghhhh I need crochet....and colour! I'll just sip my latte and look at your gorgeous blanket a bit longer to inspire!!!!!!! xxx
