I love how this time of year re-focuses my thoughts to life indoors. After such a busy Summer/September, it's such a nice feeling to acknowledge the slower pace of my days during October, to find that I once again have some time to potter on the home front.
I think I could be a professional potterer. Or a pootler. I am ridiculously good at it, and can very easily spend six hours at home in my own company feeling blissfully happy doing very little. Perhaps a bit of baking, tidying, laundry, light housework, reading, browsing, faffing, titvating.
The change of season brings out the cosy homebody in me, and it also makes me want to purchase candles. I've been buying these "Pintail Scented Candles
....on this particular afternoon last week the house felt blinkin cold, so on a whim I dragged the Big Chair right up to the hearth and lit the fire, gosh it was all kinds of wonderful! A bit of an indulgence perhaps, seeing as there was only me and myself at home to enjoy it, but I blotted out the guilt and thoroughly enjoyed the cosy moment.
This week has been milder than last, with a welcome amount of sunshine. Our east facing bay window is often flooded with light during the mornings, I do love the sight of sunlight streaming into a room, don't you? I've been at home more than at my studio recently, I am giving in to something of a nesting instinct which requires full days of pootling here in the Attic. I am crocheting a lot at home too - my Crochet-ALong starts on 1st November, yippeeee!!!!! I'll be telling you more about that in a day or two, I'm actually working on two blankets simultaneously this year which is very exciting.
It's the season for crochet blankets to really come into their own here - although mine are used day in, day out, all year round, the blankety goings on go into overdrive round about now.
I have all my blankets downstairs at the moment, although very soon I expect they will start to disappear upstairs and be used at night on beds. It's not often they look so beautifully and neatly arranged mind you, I spent time this afternoon folding and stacking and prancing around with them, hence the super neat pile and the photographic evidence.
I'm excited about the new blankets I'm working on right now using a new colour pack which I've named Sunny. Can't wait to tell you my plans!

I don't post here often but I regularly delight in your blogs! I love your emphasis on cozy and how you delight in colour and simple pleasures - I am much the same, and visiting this page resonates all the way here in my small town in Ontario, Canada!

Oh, your home always looks so cosy! That photo with the sunlight is just so inviting. I'm working on getting my new place to feel as welcoming. Also, can I just say how thrilled I am that you have been posting so often recently? Makes my day. :)

Can I say what a beautiful onslaught of colour that was to greet me as I scrolled down into your blog Lucy! Right cheered me up as they say here in Norfolk!
And as a recently retired person can I say that a couple of days a week just pottering or pooling is absolutely DIVINE! I feel no guilt - I'm often quite creative either in the sewing room or the kitchen - and it is sheer delight. I have to say IRONING does not feature heavily in my potterings, mind you!

I'm the same way! A homebody, I freely admit it! lol I spent most of yesterday doing exactly what you described except no fire to light, but the heater has been pressed into service already. Love the sunny colors! Look forward to seeing everyone's CAL. (Just finished winterizing the beehives now I'm off to paint a few projects while the sun is still shining.) Enjoy the blanket making!x
