About Me

  • Hello! Thank you so much for visiting me in the Attic, it's lovely to see you. My name is Lucy and I'm a happily married Mum with three children. We live in a cosy terraced house on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales in England which we are slowly renovating and making home. I have a passion for crochet and colour and love to share my creative journey. I hope you enjoy your peek into my colourful little world x

The impression you are leaving your children cannot be measured. I quilt as well and imagine my surprise and profound honor as I saw a picture of one of my nephews in his dorm room at university. There on the bed was the quilt that I made him when he was about 8. So many choices about what can and cannot go when you are moving over a thousand miles away from home into this tiny space and my quilt made the cut. Wow.

So watch and see which blanket goes to university with your kids. Or if they request a custom one.

Love all your blankets, currently working on your cottage ripple.
Hope you will someday design a typical English cosy Christmas blanket :-)

I was just there at Silverdale myself a few weeks ago for our family holiday. I have fallen in love with this area, I love the seclusion and peace. Also I am very fortunate that my mum lives in the village Warton just past Carnforth and I only live half an hours drive away. For me there is absolutely no other place I would rather be. We trekked up Arnside Knott and did some wonderful walks. And the fact that the lakes is a stone throw away pure bliss xxxxxx

Your house sounds like a nest of colourful blankets. I'm sure your children will remember that forever, the comfort and cosiness...

I was almost where you were last week... love that area.

I just finished my cosy stripe blanket! And have my harmony pack to start, really soon. Thanks so much for sharing your love of colour and helping me make lovely rugs and blankets for now and the future. Mine won't be finished as beautifully as yours, but I look forward to trying my skill at the harmony blanket very soon. Thanks Lucy

You are amazing Lucy!!!
Thank you so much for sharing such beautiful snippets of your life. Your blog to me is like your blankets are to your family, a warm fuzzy comforting place!

Ah yes! Blanket Love! I crocheted two afghans in the winter of 1977/78. They were in the earthtones then in fashion. When we downsized in 2002, I finally put them in a donation bag. Found them later where my son and husband had hidden them behind the bench seat in the pickup truck. My 33 year old son just moved into a new place. Guess what's on the back of his sofa? They are older than he is, and he's really attached to them, lol.

Oh my gosh love that afghan, I have so much yarn and it would be good to use it all up for that. I just finished two knitted afghan for our fair, hoping to win the first place , I have all the other ribbons so will see, crossing my fingers. Will keep your afghan in mind looks like fun to do.

Thanks for sharing your mini break. Last year while staying in Whitby we didn't get the chance to go to Robin Hoods Bay. Such a shame as it looks lovely.

I always love your posts. They seem to wrap cozily around me like your lovely blankets I keep seeing. Love your newest one and the colors you chose for it. Looking forward to more pics from your 'caravaning' holiday :)!

So understand your caravan love! We have our own tourer caravan and love our time away in it. This summer we have stayed in Henley on Thames and Cheddar. We have just returned from a family camping weekend at a local caravan and camping site at Kingsbury. Great, great fun and lots of fab memories. Love seeing your holiday visits.

What a lovely post! I'm not surprised your blanket is so popular with your family. They are very lucky to have it to snuggle up in. The colours are just wonderful. Glad you had such a lovely break away xxx Sarah

Sounds lovely :) Peacefully pootling :)

Glad you had such a lovely break, it looks like a wonderful unspoiled and quiet place. Hopefully you are all refreshed and recharged now. CJ xx

Really pleased you had a lovely family time away, we have a Silverdale in NZ too, also near lovely beaches. I have made two Harmony squares to try and as soon as I finish the border of my present blanket I will be busy making lots more for a blanket. I am in my seventies and well remember my Grandma crocheting, and still use a blanket she made in her 90's, once when she had a fall she insisted on giving the Ambulance driver one of her crochet blankets as a gift.!!

A short, sweet emotional post Xx lots of love Joy Xx

Thank you for making me welcome at your Friday morning group Lucy. For me, a highlight of my UK trip. Best wishes for a successful Yarndale 2015, too bad I couldn't extent the holiday a few more weeks. Cheers from Bev. W Australia. xxx

Kim Taylor

I wish I'd known you were there! It's about 10 minutes away from me - you could have called in and crocheted here with me for a while lol! Love those soft soothing colours for the blanket - hoping to get to Yarndale again this year to enjoy the colours in person. I can feel another wool purchase coming on....

Cheri George

I love love love the Harmony blanket. Thank you for yaking the time to do that for us.

Winwick Mum

Glad you're having a good rest, it's what holidays are about! xx

Absolutely love the colours of the harmony blanket Lucy!! Although I started late with my blanket making and my kids are teens I still hope my kids will remember my blankets with fondness. I made your cozy blanket in the colours you chose and my very cool and trendy near 16 year old loves it and has it on her bed!! Also one of my cats who is a real sook and Mummy's boy will use the blanket as a replacement for me if I can't sit down to cuddle him, ha ha so funny! Just finishing off a couple of small projects then I'm going to start the cottage blanket. Got the pack sitting there waiting and calling my name! Glad you had a wonderful time away.
