About Me

  • Hello! Thank you so much for visiting me in the Attic, it's lovely to see you. My name is Lucy and I'm a happily married Mum with three children. We live in a cosy terraced house on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales in England which we are slowly renovating and making home. I have a passion for crochet and colour and love to share my creative journey. I hope you enjoy your peek into my colourful little world x

Yep,we've just returned from the coast and endless blueness too - chicken-sitting in Whitstable to be precise! Horrible to come back to a house dirtier, messier, urrgghier than the lovely, clean, sparkly, seasidey one we were staying in!!!

Amanda

Holiday memories are what it's all about, it's a gift we give our children...far more precious that the latest toy! We've still a week to go here, I'm catching up on holiday laundry and just revelling in my sunny garden that's bursting with life! Have a happy week Lucy :) xxx

Lyn

It is always hard getting back to everyday life after a lovely holiday but you are right, those memories will keep you going. xxx

Nienke

Oh wow, that looks like a great holiday! I know the feeling... actually I'm experiencing a pre-holiday blues - I'm *so* looking forward to our next trip, but we'll have to wait till the summer still! Nah. Going to visit Wales, though, which I'm looking forward to so much.

Love the pillows on your chair by the way ;)

Anne

Your post makes me miss the sea... I used to live closer to the Northern Sea and I miss the sound of the waves!

Take care

You can't beat sunshine and seaside as a combination, other than maybe throwing in an ice-cream or two! Hope that the sunny weather this week is giving you a lift.

Jenny Every

Sun by the seaside is brilliant but nothing beats coming home to such a cosy home. Your house just looks a dream - full of all the touches I would love to see in mine. As always beautiful pics ... love them and following you on your blog. Your new blanket project will help you back it is so gorgeous. xx

dane

blue is beautiful !!!

I grew up by the sea, and now in my later years am back near it again, able to get those fresh sea breezes blowing in my face whenever I feel the need, so I understand your blues when it's been left behind and you go back to 'normal' life. Looking forward to some more colourful inspiration from you!

Carol

What a lovely Easter break you have had. A holiday by the sea - what fun. I hope you get the hot weather this week.

What a lovely site...hope I am accepted to your group! Our mountains are covered in snow but the sun is shining so a sight to gladden the heart!

Hi Lucy - greetings from Australia. If you google my girlfriends blog "magpie walkabout" to check out her latest post - she is holidaying in San Francisco at the moment and took some photos of a shop window you will luuuuuv! cheers H

Susan

Glad your holiday in Dorset was wonderful! I decided a long time ago that when I go away, I leave my house clean as a whistle. I put away any holiday decorations and leave some treats in the fridge/freezer for when we get home. This way, no matter how much we enjoyed being away, we enjoy coming home too!

wanda

sorry you came back a bit sad.
it looks lovely.

Im tired, had some time off to catch up with laundry and housework but no option for a break away unfortunately.
Its 3am and I should be sleeping but the dogs were barking and in the country where I live there is a lot of crime so Im awake.

It was nice to see your pictures
thanks :)

caitlin

gorgeous work :D Hope the weather gets better for you.

Lucy, you are not alone in your dull, cold dreary little world. Today we had our first (and I mean first) spring-like day. The sun shone and you could go without a coay....that lasted until later in the afternoon. We are now back to dull, grey and rain. It feels a bit like coming back from vacation.

Linn

Lucy! I have read your blog for several years now. So long that I don't remember how I found you! I have akways enjoyed your pictures and stories...but I did not crochet...until a week ago when the crochet bug bit me....big time! I am having a ball learning to crochet. The blue ripple crochet blanket inspired me to post this message!!! Thanks Lucy! Linn

My aunt was in Dorset this week and had a wonderful time. She'll be on her way home to Canada soon--hope the weather's welcoming. Coming home can be hard, as you say Lucy.

Three thoughts: 1)Love the blue and white pitcher! 2) Ditto the tree cushion on your sofa -- oh heck, who am I kidding? Your entire house looks cosy and fab! 3) So glad you enjoyed your holiday, and can't wait to see your ongoing work! *virtual hug*

Glad you managed to have a fun week "Down South". Your coastal ripple looks perfect on the pebbles!

I just love your blogs and get excited every time in visit your site. You have inspired me to rediscover crochet, something I learnt 47 years ago from a friend' s granny. Am currently making a ripple cushion in rasberry and blues drops wool from wool warehouse. Thanks for those easy to follow instructions. I'm looking forward to the next project
Hope the weather in Yorkshire improves

Glad you had such a lovely Easter. The blue is glorious isn't it, the most calming and soothing of colours. I always have terrible post-holiday gloom as well. All I can say is, it will pass. I hope it does very soon. CJ xx

I always enjoy your posts about holiday trips. Looking forward to seeing more. Good luck with the return to the routine, I know it's not always easy. I'm sure you'll feel better in a couple of days.

Jean the Creative Pixie

Family holidays by the sea are just the best! Last night we had tears as the children didn't want to go back to school but thankfully they were fine today, they just enjoyed Mummy time so much. Hope your spirits lift and the sun shines. Jean
