After pretty much a whole long week of low grey cloud, fog and damp drizzle, we woke up yesterday {Sunday} to the bliss of clear blue sky and sunshine. These bright sunshiny days are so precious at this time of year that it would've been criminal to stay indoors, so off we jolly well went, into the great Outdoors.
Oh.My.Goodness. It was just sooooo beautiful. The amazing colours, the unexpected warmth of the sun, the clarity of the light, it was absolutely magical. We walked slowly, ambling, chatting, taking it all in. We spent quite a bit of time at the water's edge where there is a small sandy beach and it is shallow enough to paddle. It was lovely to watch my three Little People play together, it doesn't happen often these days as LM (now 12 years old and as tall as me) is growing fond of his own space when we're at home. But when we're out and about, we get a glimpse of his still-young self and it is wonderful to observe. The larking about, the gentle teasing, the laughter, the fun. Thank goodness it is all still there between the three of them, and oh how I enjoyed it all yesterday as we walked around the water together.
I've shared this local walk a good number of times on my blog now, it's a favourite destination when all we want/need is a very short drive and one hour of fresh air, gentle exercise and amazing scenery. I absolutely LOVE to see how this walk of ours changes through the seasons, do take a quick look... {Spring} {Summer} {Winter}

Fab photos Lucy. So good to get away from the frenetic preparation for Christmas for a short time and relax in the fresh air. Keep enjoying the company of your kids. They grow up and leave so quickly.

I just love the color of the sky this time of year! A lovely outing, precious time together and so fleeting, enjoy. We've had several grey days here as well but at least they were dry, so I did enjoy the warm day outside stringing up Christmas lights and cleaning sticks from the yard, after recent windy days. I really need to rake leaves, maybe tomorrow if the weather holds. ; ) Have a great week Lucy! x

Thank you for taking me on your lovely walk. Family is the meaning of life, with crochet a close second. I'm looking forward to travelling to England in a year or two, for a few months. Cheers from sunny Brisbane.

What a beautiful light, like liquid gold! And sailing, sigh. Just watching sailboats in motion makes me feel relaxed, like watching snow fall or flames burn. I envy you your bare ground: going for a walk here today means quite a struggle through heavy, wet snow that has frozen to a crust but not a crust hard enough to walk on, alas. The difference in the light between your post today and mine is intense: I had to increase the exposure on every shot to offset the grey dim. Thanks for sharing the beauty.

Your country is so beautiful! I live in Michigan, US and it has been kind of weird, it was really cold (below freezing) then it got warm and rained, now today it is cold again and everything is frozen. Glad you got to spend some time outdoors!

Lucy, Lucy, Lucy. All your pictures are stunning as always, but the one of what I am guessing is LB (Spiderman), Yourself (Rainbow) and LL(striped with the bows) legs /feet in your wellies just really touched me to the point of getting a tear or two. I can just see all three of you standing together with the sun at your backs making those shadows so very long...........What wonderful memories! Thanks for sharing.
much love,
aliceg
