This morning after the school run I spent a delicious hour at the little café where I have my studio. It's just the loveliest place to sit in a pool of Autumn sunshine, drink a very, very good coffee and listen to the banter of the beautiful ladies who work there. I sat and let it all happen around me, the chat and laughter, the baking and cooking, the familiar sounds and smells of the coffee making rituals, the customers coming and going with snippets of conversation. I just love it, I love café life so much. It's warm and friendly, comforting and welcoming.
I sat and sipped my latté and pondered over my week. I thought about the many decisions I've been making, about the ticks on my lengthy to-do list that've been happening slowly but surely, about the very many things still shouting for my attention. Emails. Invoices. Project specs. Blog posts. And then I went up to my studio and played with colour and lost myself for a while in it's pleasures.
I've got a lot of writing to do for Yarndale during the next week or so, a series of blog posts to tell the story of the festival this year. I've made a start tonight with the first post, you can read about it over on the Yarndale blog if you like. I've also got a surprise to share with you all re the Mandalas, something I've been working on during the past month with J which I hope will be ready by the weekend. I really hope you're going to like it.

EDIT :: The Yarndale posts mentioned above will be written by me during this next week, but will appear on the Yarndale blog. That way those who wish to read them can do so, and those who don't wish to read them don't have to bother. Now please can we STOP arguing?
What a lovely time at the café - seems so cozy and comforting!

YUM. What a great post, thankyou Lucy for sharing, as always it is a pleasure to read your blog. You have been so inspiring to me, not just in the hooky sense, but you actually inspired me to start my own blog. I have learned how time consuming it really is to write regular posts, I honestly don't know how you manage it all with everything else going on! Well done!!

Lucy, you are a treasure.
Many days you have brought me out of the blues by your happy and colorful endeavors. Thank you.
I am sending you a quote that seems appropriate at this time that I came across just last week from Alysia Harris:
"The moment you feel like you have to prove your worth to someone is the moment to absolutely and utterly walk away."
Hugs, Gail from the USA
PS: I love the new blanket!!!!

Ooh, the strangest thing has just happened! Here I am, catching up with your posts and your "about me" picture changed mid-read! It made me smile but made me jump at the same time. One minute you're in your yard and the next you're smiling at me from out of your page. I've obviously read far too much Harry Potter with small daughter - I'll be expecting you to wave at me next! :) xx

I just want to tell you Lucy, that I love you and all that you do on your blog. No matter what you ramble on about - it is all lovely. I have always enjoyed my time in the Attic. You brought me back to crochet years ago with your hexagon blanket (it's on my bed now - keeping me extra toasty on the cold nights when needed) So yes, I will be joining you in this CAL. Not sure of my colors yet though - stash buster maybe - a true randomness or if I will purchase some favorite colors. In any case I can't wait to begin with your lovely pattern!
Patty.

Lucy do you have instructions for the lovely flowers you shared on your 10/14 post? I would like to make them - they are so sweet .

Oh! I love sitting in a café and doing some of my reading/knitting/organising/crosswords, etc. So lovely to have people around and there is always a corner in which one can make your temporary 'home'. I'd love you to know how much your blog means to me. May you always find time and energy to chat to us and lighten our days with your lovely words and photos! Happy Friday!

I am working on my "Cottage" afghan and just need to tell you what a joy it is. I find it to be so relaxing and I can hardly wait to start a new colour...never gets boring. My friend Joanne told me about your blog a while back, and I am so grateful. I appreciate your effort in giving us beautiful photos, gentle thoughts and an abundance of scrumptious colours to fill our minds with loveliness. You are appreciated.

I wish there was an option to "like" peoples comments as on Facebook. Glad you have a timeout place to go, it really does make coping with the demands of life easier when you can snatch some "me time".

Such beautiful colours! I'm so glad you were able to enjoy a peaceful coffee and enjoy some 'yarn therapy', as I know you've had a bit of a difficult time lately. Looking forward to reading all about your mandalas - they look so colourful.

So glad you're back! You seem to be rejuvenated. Your posts, whether long or short, are lovely. Thank you. Maybe next year will be the year I'll be able to see Yarndale first hand. Skipton is a long way from Utah!!!
