:: Summer View :: oh those greens, I love gazing at my summer hill view!
:: Summer sky :: love walking out in the warm evenings with my face turned towards the beautiful sky. These long, light-filled days are just so lovely.
:: Summer flowers :: enjoying this little jug of pretty blooms on my table each day.
:: Summer drink :: delicious coming home after a long, hot busy day and sitting a while in my back yard with a tall glass of homemade elderflower cordial.
:: Summer food :: light, fragrant summer salads, you just can't beat them. This was a pea and bean salad with mint vinaigrette (from M&S) with added tomato, cucumber, rocket and crumbled feta. Yum!
:: Summer walking :: I divert my walk home from town to come the slightly longer way along this pretty stretch of canal. I love that I get to do this as part of my daily routine.
:: Summer park :: an evening trip to the park with the Little People a week or so ago, loving the long lush grass at the edge of the woodland and the magical early evening light.
:: Summer fragrance :: oh wowsers, this rose is incredible!! Not mine (oh I wish!), it belongs to a neighbour lower down my back street. I could not believe the scent of them as I walked past, the fragrance was so beautiful.
:: Summer pots :: not a cascade of roses, but I am really happy with my humble pots of annuals. I walk up and down my back street just to take in the effect of coming across the sight of them from a distance. I have flowers! They make me so happy!!
:: Summer chat :: yes, I do talk to my flowers, but only when I am alone :) I noticed today that some of our seeds have sprouted already, yippeeeeeee! So I shall now chat to my weeny sunflower shoot, and my weeny nasturtium shoots, encourage them to grow big and strong.

I wish I had more time to be here in the Attic, I've got things to show you, things to discuss, things to share! This is the last week of my yarn bomb work in local schools, so hoping I can be here a bit more as of next week. Mind you, I also have a mountain of mandala parcels (approaching 200) still to open, so the workload remains hefty. But I miss my blog very much. Hoping you will be about to visit me next week, I've got a blankety Ta-dah moment coming up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!

We've been watching the Tour de France from California. Your countryside is so green and beautiful and I'm hoping you had an opportunity to see the tour go by in person.

Lovely and summery! Though I am not generally a sports fan, I watched the start of the Tour yesterday specially to get a glimpse of Skipton. And yes, we got to see the castle, the church and the surroundings. Nice, but I must say that I prefer your pictures! Looking forward to everything you have to show.

The rose looks like The Garland (I have it in my own garden and its perfume is stunning). You could grow it too . . . : )
Lovely summery photos.

Hi Lucy, Sorry to ask...I know you are really busy.

Someone has suggested you plant a jasmine bush instead of roses - I'm going to recommend Trachelospermum jasminoides (star jasmine) which is a slow-growing climber that doesn't take up too much space against a wall (and would save painting it ;-)). The scent of the little white flowers is almost overpowering at this time of year even late in the evening. It's evergreen too, doesn't have thorns and mine is absolutely my favourite plant in my garden. More info at http://www.rhs.org.uk/Plants/18287/Confederate-jasmine/Details xx
