Hello hooky friends....this is just a super-quick post to let you know that I have been working with my Technical Consultant (also known as J the Husband) and we have created a rather nifty PDF version of the pattern which can now be downloaded. I've written it as a standard pattern rather than the full blown tutorial, so it is six pages long and easily printable.
I hope it's of help.......
I've also had a lot of questions about the type of yarn to use for the Bower Bird....really any yarn can be used, but I think a fine, smooth yarn works best for this project. I've used a mixture of Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino and Rico Essentials Merino DK worked on a 3.5mm hook. Obviously, if you use a standard DK weight yarn on a 4mm hook, your bird will be born bigger!
Happy hooking!

Lucy you are the best! I love your work and ideas, the birds are lovely, and tha pdf makes me smile :)))))) Love, Iris.

I love the color combinations of this bird. After seeing all the lovely birds here and about, I've been inspired to decorate a long piece of drift wood that lives on my porch with some hooky birds. :) Have a great week Lucy!xx

Hi Lucy,
thanks so much for posting your pdf pattern, I always wanted to try this. Your blog is lovely and I get a lot of pleasure from reading it!
Have just returned from a week in England, going to see my 2 oldest daughters graduate (one in Coventry and one in Huddersfield). I enjoyed spending time in Yorkshire especially, it draws me back again and again!
I also came back with some of the English crochet magazines and was very impressed with the amount of mandalas you received from all over the world! You must be soo busy organizing them all! If I lived back in England, I'd offer to help you out!
Greetings from Belgium!
Ingrid

Just finished my first Bower Bird this evening. What a fun pattern! I hope you will have this on your Ravelry page, Lucy. This is my first Attic24 pattern. Thank you for the clear, detailed instructions with the abundance of photos! I need to be walked through written patterns step-by-step with images, thus this pattern was a dream for me. I look forward to making more crochet crafts from this website. The Bower Bird will be a birthday gift for a little girl next month. :) Thank you, Lucy!
