I took a train ride today, just me and my thoughts and twenty five minutes of passing view....
....to Salts Mill in the picturesque village of Saltaire.
It is such a quaint place that is steeped in history....
...and even the air smelt lovely this morning with the scent of cow parsley drifting on the breeze.
These streets are completely charming, they pull at my heart every time I visit...
....make me long for a brightly painted front door and pretty stained glass windows....
....make me vow to tidy up my own scruffy little patch of front garden.
Sigh. Just so picture perfect! I love terraced houses very much, the simplicity and comfort of them, the friendliness and neatness. In Saltaire, there are row upon row of these old mill workers houses as the whole village is designed on a grid (have a look here). It is a lovely place for pottering and daydreaming.
♥
This morning was such a lovely treat, a detour for a few hours away from the hustle and bustle of my everyday life. A chance to be just Me, to enjoy some thinking, gazing and pootling time followed by some super friendly chat and laughter over coffee and toasted crumpets. Gillian, thank you for a delicious morning, it was pure pleasure.

Thanks for my virtual mini break! Will be thinking about this all day :)

Lucy, It does all look so beautiful! Yes it does look like a magic kingdom indeed! Even if I did visit I don't think I would have time to see what you see. Thank you so very much for this wonderful 'magic tour'. Lets do it again soon. xx

Thank you for inspiring me to go for a walk this morning and collect some mindful moments myself. Your blog and your colorful crochet patterns are such a gift to your readers. You have helped me fill my home with color.... And definitely gonna try those bean burgers this evening. THANK YOU.

I've read about Saltaire but never seen any photographs - what a delightful place! And of course built by one of the old benevolent factory owners - you'd never catch any of them doing it these days would you! Lovely solid looking houses; and yes, my tiny front 'garden' could do with a bit of a tidy and 'kerb appeal'!

Such lovely photos!!! I especially like the one with the cat on the steps. Thanks so much for the "stroll" through what looks to be a perfect place. So glad you were able to get away and enjoy it.

And thank you, Lucy, for evoking memories as those terraced houses are where my maternal grandparents lived. So naturally, Saltaire is a special place for me too.

We enjoyed a glorious day at Salt's Mill and Saltire after Yarndale last year. Not wanting to wish the year away but come September this year I hope that we will be enjoying all of these places again. Can't wait :) x

Saltaire is definitely one of my most favourite places too, I lived in Bradford for 7 years and often took myself on trips out to Saltaire, it's a gorgeous place to have a walk and a potter around the shops and then eat delicious food

Ah, my friend and I stopped at Salts Mill on our way up to Yarndale last year, and in fact, our hotel was only about a mile away from it. Lovely memories! x

I love how the British have to have their gardens even if it's just a small patch in the front!

Lucy, it was an absolute pleasure, a truly lovely morning. After a crazy few days it was so nice to sit and chat and just be. Good company, good coffee, just all round fabulous. We must do it again soon - before Yarndale, ideally! x
