About Me

  • Hello! Thank you so much for visiting me in the Attic, it's lovely to see you. My name is Lucy and I'm a happily married Mum with three children. We live in a cosy terraced house on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales in England which we are slowly renovating and making home. I have a passion for crochet and colour and love to share my creative journey. I hope you enjoy your peek into my colourful little world x

I love how your newest afghan is coming along!

Roxie

I'm so happy for you. Don't work too hard at getting back to normal. :)

I live in Dorset and can relate to your feeling of unsettlement on leaving as I just can't bear to be away from home. I live right on Chesil beach and lay in the bath hearing the waves on the pebbles, such calming bliss!

Thank you for all the inspiring blogs as I have learnt to crochet through your own works of art ;-)

One-oh-four

Apparently flamingos are the new owls...they seem to be popping up everywhere this year on the internet and especially on craft blogs. I think they are gorgeous. Looks like you had a lovely time!!

Vikki

You live in such a beautiful place! I love the crochet birds :) so colorful.

CJ

I'm glad you had such a lovely time Lucy, and I love your finds. I know exactly what you mean about that heaviness after a holiday. It takes a while to get over re-entry. I hope you're back on an even keel very soon. It sounds like you've had a good day today anyway, although I hope there's some warmth headed your way. My little people aren't very little any more either. The eldest (ten) told me off for calling him "little" today. Apparently he is big now. Sigh.

Welcome home and I adore the little sculpture! We're getting our caravan ready for a trip to our beach for my birthday.. we leave in 9 days. I'm glad you had such a good time on your trip to the beach. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Love your finds!! The jug is lovely filled with tulips! I have tulips every week as long as j can have them and even found some wonderful bright and cheerful daffies too! You've inspired me to disperse them amongst the house and enjoy them all about!

I think the caravan with flamingos is darling, sure to make you smile! Us too!

Welcome back! Good for you to hold onto your holiday as long as you can, I think it sounds divine and I eagerly await your posts so I might have a vicarious jaunt to the see, for although we had a couple of warmer days here in Illinois, snow is on the way for tomorrow...bleh!

Hugs and love,
Jeanette

Regina

Love your posts! Beautiful landscape
pictures, and.... I also love tulips💐

Hillary

Great pictures. I love that pink jug. x

I love my kids too. It's funny how time spent on one's hobby makes one a better person... I am working on a few projects, a poncho (in cotton coz I'd probably implode in wool), a scarf with Pom Poms and a granny square blanket for a friend. It's rainy here but that's due to a cyclone off the Great Barrier Reef. We're just getting raging humidity and rain. :-)

Anita is correct about the flamingo lawn ornaments. They were popular at about the same time as the caravans of that style. Interestingly, here in Louisiana one of the Mardi Gras crewes has adopted the pink flamingo as its symbol, and we see them all over as the time comes near for their parade.

Susan

Sounds like you had a lovely time. I used to often vacation on the shore of Long Island and I remember the feeling of melancholy that accompanied my homecoming. Luckily, it passes quickly. Love your photos.

Elaine

Wonderful to have you back Lucy. I totally understand about the settling process and the chores and detritus left to cope with after a glorious week away!!
Your purchases, pictures and descriptions, are as always a delight to see and read. I have been rippling away this afternoon in my garden in Cornwall with pots of tulips and garden flowers along with the sun in my face waiting to see a picture of your seaside ripple. You never dissapoint, thank you for sharing with all of us. Looking forward to seeing more of your adventures.

Phyl

Lovely Post Lucy. Love your new purchases, thank you for sharing. Hope you enjoy a settled week and lovely Easter with your family. xx

Anita

hehehe pink flamingos are a lawn ornament here in North America. Not so popular now, but back in the 50s-80s (?) every front yard had them just about. It very odd as the flamingo isn't from NA. We're just silly I guess!

Joy

Welcome back Lucy 😄 Xx lots of love Joy Xx

Amy at love made my home

Glad that you had such a great time away! Love the little flamingo accompanied caravan too. The results of the workshop look great, I really like those birds. Hope that you settle back soon. xx

Sangeetha

Gorgeous photos. Love that wooden caravan with the flamingos. :) I enjoy reading about your crochet workshops at the studio. Seems like such fun. I would love it if women here would learn to crochet. But the response is lukewarm even if I offer to teach for free. Pity!! Have a fantastic week.
