There has been a pleasurable rhythm to the past few days as I've been going about my quiet business. I've been out a lot of the time, lots of to-and-fro walking as I deliver and collect the Little People, purchase groceries, attend meetings, meet friends for coffee, run errands. The weather has been kind. Gorgeous in fact, mild and still and perfect for enjoying the Autumn season.
My home-time during the past few days has also been sweet. I have filled the hours with writing, photographing, baking, snuggling, reading, singing, tickling, crocheting, cooking, firelighting, daydreaming.
This morning, I enjoyed a stroll in the woods with Heather and her gorgeous little boy, collecting leaves and getting rather muddy. This afternoon, Little B and I baked oaty cookies, filling the house with the most delicious smell. Later, I roasted the market squash and made risotto for dinner, it was so tasty and comforting.
Inside and Out, I am always so uplifted by the colours of my world. Colour makes my heart and soul sing such a happy tune.

Yes! In and out we go - my out these days is more wintery but still! I am going to make squash risotto for the evening meal! I make mine slightly differently than you - cubing the squash and cooking it in the pan that I make the risotto in - seems to come out the same - all golden little nuggets in the yummy tender rice! Yay risotto - my favorite thing to cook. Been watching tonnes of youtubes of some Italian cook called Genno I think! He is heaven - on Jamie Oliver's site - says Funntastic! all the time.

Living in your house must be like living in a rainbow. So many pretty, bright colors. I must admit you have been the reason I have changed some of my decorating. I use to like darker colors, but now I go for the brights.

Hi Lucy, my name's Sarah and I live in Melbourne, Australia. I just wanted to say that I really love your blog. Your photographs are divine - amazing colours and I wish I could walk where you do! Lucky-duck! I especially loved reading your Canterbury entry. I lived in the UK for 8 months in 94-95 and I remember my trip to Canterbury with real affection. It WAS a beautiful place. You took me back there. Thank you. I really look forward to future posts.

Yes, beautiful colours, lovely extremes. Loving the reflections on the canal too. You're in such a picturesque part of the country.
I was trying to find the pictures of your Frittata, was looking at it the other day and even that had lovely bright colours. I wanted to make it and couldn't find the post. I did find the Risotto.

I know this if off topic but I'm looking into starting my own blog and was curious what all is required to get setup? I'm assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I'm not very internet savvy so I'm not 100% sure. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Kudos

Lovely photos! Autumn is such a colourful time of year, isn't it, and yet it's often so wet and windy that we miss a lot of it. Hooray for crisp autumn days! xx

I love the autumn. The colour and the c rispness is invigorating. I married in the autumn and all my children were born in the autumn. I enjoyed the glimpse of your dining table. Our dining table, like yours, is a working table. My husband painted on it before he had a studio and it bears the scars of that, and now my little ones create their own works of art on top of it. Coloured pencils are a regular at breakfast time in our house too.
