About Me

  • Hello! Thank you so much for visiting me in the Attic, it's lovely to see you. My name is Lucy and I'm a happily married Mum with three children. We live in a cosy terraced house on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales in England which we are slowly renovating and making home. I have a passion for crochet and colour and love to share my creative journey. I hope you enjoy your peek into my colourful little world x

I felt like clapping and doing a little jiggy jig just reading about your excitement at Connievan! :D That rainbow was just something else, beautiful!

Thank you - I'm going tent camping tomorrow, and the forecast is not promising, so I have been feeling glum today - but I'm all excited again :-)

I had to laugh at the chocolate-biscuit s'mores - a well-known American TV chef made them on one of her programmes and reverently told her guests that they were a SPECIAL recipe using fancy imported chocolate biscuits 'from France!'. Of course this great treat turned out to be good old McVitie's choccy digestives....

Love your blog and your tales of adventures in Connievan and elsewhere.

what a lovely end to the summer! We have been making S'mores this way for a number of camping trips, the children have adored setting light to their marshmallows over the camping fire and then sandwiching them between the two chocolate digestives! now the oldest is nearly 15 he's graduated to putting in the marshmallows whilst they are still flaming! but he still comes camping, and still loves it...you have many years of happy family time ahead...enjoy them, Claire xx

Dear Lucy,
Love the Rainbow! Camping with the little ones is such a joy. I have yet to introduce the Bumper to it, but we spend plenty of time at the beach (seaside)!
Lot's of Love to you and yours,

so lovely to be able to get away and have some time together just before school starts, looks like a gentle, fun time

good end to the summer. Planning a trip to your world early June. Myself and a friend are hoping to visit your town and studio. How do we find out where it is.If you could email some info would be greatly appreciated. We are both crochetrs and have purchased your color bundle from Deramores.

Our kids are a little older than yours and in the Autumn we light a Coleman lamp (Think Aladdin lamp)and play cards and drink mugs of tea and hot chocolate round it...it warms our camper and is very cosy ..so much so that the children like to draw the curtains early and light the lamp for the blissful warm glow.
Love the Chocolate digestive smores idea :0) Ours swear that Oreos work too

My late inlaws had a camper and we spent many weekends at the lake! I love breakfast over a fire most of all - thick slabs of bacon and scrambled eggs and the very best coffee! What heavenly fragrances! Sweet memories! They would string these patio lights across the canopy that my kids loved so much --they were brightly rainbow colored plastic owls with lights inside--They were so cheery and bright --you would love them!

I have really enjoyed following your holiday posts and have to say that although I have thoroughly enjoyed them all this one has been my favourite:) I adore connievan stories! Thanks for sharing xxx

It looks lovely. I'm so glad you're making the most of both Connievan and the campsite, I am sure you're creating lots of memories for your kids.

It looks absolutely wonderful there Lucy. I love when my bigger boys read to the little one, it's adorable. Glad you had such a lovely last day of the summer holidays. How quickly it flies by. No doubt autumn at Connievan will be utterly magical though. You are right, there is something wonderful about being in a caravan.

It's so pretty there! :)

It always looks so cosy in your little Connie, hopefully you'll have a couple more months of Happy Camping and Autumnal walks before the winter sets in to badly. Happy Camping.

Oh I wish we still had our caravan ( it was mum and dads and then I inherited it, until it crumbled ). Hubby not keen on caravans so i don't think there will be another. I love reading your beautiful blog- and your photos are so inviting- great idea with the marshmallows and biscuits. Will definitely have to try that out with the wood burner when the weather gets colder.
Hope you manage to squeeze a few more trips in before the season ends xx
Beautiful rainbow pics too :) xx

gorgeous post as always Lucy and I love love love the marshmallows between this biscuits ... really made me chuckle. Hope you get some more fine weekends in Connie xx Joy xx

Next time use chocolate hobnobs for your s'mores - sublime!

What a lovely end to summer x

Special times Lucy :) It looks like the most gorgeous spot - I can see why you love it so much. Hoping to get away in our caravan next week for a couple of days. They are the most perfect home from home on wheels aren't they ?

how lovely - I love your cloud and rainbow pictures. I live in the dales too - I do think we live in the most beautiful place!

Hi Lucy what a fabulous post, thank you. We used to go to a caravan many years ago when my children were small and we now take our grandchildren. They just love it and lately we have been talking about buying a little one to escape to on a Friday evening when I have finished work. There is something about a caravan which I love, especially when it is dark and we have the little lights on all snuggly and warm, nothing to beat it. You won't believe this Lucy but I have sent for the vantastic book, just waiting for it to come! Your post was entertaining and so enjoyable as always Lucy, you are an inspiration to me.
Lots of love

Wow, the cloud picture is fascinating!

Hi,Lucy,i stumbled upon your blog on my search of crochet stuff....I was so impressed of your work, but i have to say that reading you,and i became a huge admirer of everything that you do,not only your handwork.I would like that one day i will live my life as beautifully as you do.You are a beautiful person, keep up that joie de vivre, you manage to transmit it even further...I am happy to read your posts and feel all the serenity that come out of everything that you write....I send you a big hug from Germany!

Oh how this makes me MISS my grandparents' camper! They had a little spot about 2 hours away for my entire life - I spent at least one weekend there every summer for 28 years, and many more in very lucky years! They sold it 2 years ago because they just couldn't handle the maintenance and I so wish I'd been in a position to take it off their hands. It makes me so sad my little one won't get to experience that place, making donuts over the campfire, Halloween in September (they close in October haha), visiting the Amish farms nearby, catching turtles in the pond, the dusty arcade...I'm feeling all nostalgic now!
