About Me

  • Hello! Thank you so much for visiting me in the Attic, it's lovely to see you. My name is Lucy and I'm a happily married Mum with three children. We live in a cosy terraced house on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales in England which we are slowly renovating and making home. I have a passion for crochet and colour and love to share my creative journey. I hope you enjoy your peek into my colourful little world x

Thankfully people are all different and do different when it comes to free time and holidays.....otherwise the camp sites would be overflowing. The do different peeps just don't understand do they Lucy. We love the feeling of camping be it under a tent, camper or caravan, it's just the same....even my wet dog has never changed my mind. You have described every thing exactly as I feel it but never put it down in words before. Lovely photographs and such a great place to do different! Enjoy your Connievan.

The Dales look so gorgeous, I really should explore them more, we're only in York. Lovely photos and memories there. I was a Playmobile fan too & used to take it on holidays with me so good work Little Lady!

Jenny Grant

Hope your finger gets better soon! Ow! Lovely pictures Lucy!

Joy

We have just spent 3 months living in our caravan. It was a challenge to say the least but at least we have now moved into a house. I love where you have Connievan sited and I agree, getting everything organised to go away is a challenge too, especially when you have little ones. Enjoy her.

Oh blissful, a place in the country, luck you! The countryside at this time of year is stunning. That all looks so beautiful, it really does.

Rosie

And when the kids get a little bigger, you could pitch a tent beside the van for them. I'll bet they would find that exciting.

How absolutely perfect. Enjoy. Must get my bum into gear and get my Carrievan sorted for a trip. :-) Jude.x

Beautiful pictures !
What a lovely place for Connievan.
I'm happy for you that you're feeling better!
Have a nice weekend.

Connievan's new home looks lovely, and I love the photos of your weekend - Yorkshire's almost as beautiful as North Wales! I'm glad you're feeling better, and I admire your forbearance in waiting til next week to crochet.......though it's a wise idea, so that you don't aggravate whatever it is which is making your hand so painful. Take care, Lucy, and thank you for sharing your uplifting photos with us xx

What a perfect solution! I think things on the doorstep that one can access without massive organisation and hassle are often better value in the long run because one uses them so much more. And as children get older and more reluctant to leave behind home-amusements / time with their friends etc, instant weekends or a couple of days out of a half term may be much more feasible for you and acceptable for them! Go for it! Love those Yorkshire Dale meadows ... dreamy. Hope your finger really does speed happily into being completely better - have felt for you so much this week. Not being able to crochet might be worse than not being able to walk for me by now, I've got so hooked! (sorry for pun!) E xx

I am so happy for you that you found such a perfect place to put Connie! And now you can jaunt off for the weekend, or even an afternoon to sit in the grass and enjoy the countryside! And the lovely walk to town and that amazingly perfect pub.. oh my.. what a jewel!! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Marylin

Sounds like such a good idea...just to park it and be able to go at a whim! Hubby and I are looking around for some little 'recreation vehicle' (RV)...we could just toodle off in...how fun that would be! We manage a small motel, so scooting off to the countryside for some quiet time together whenever possible would be the cat's meow! Hugs, MO

Lucy I grew up near your area and I visit your lovely blog for a little fix of home. We bought an onsite van near the beach in Austrlalia when our boys were small. It was the best thing ever, lots of healthy fun away from the play station. You won't regret it. Get well soon xx

Meredith

That looks like a wonderful set up! Good for you for making family vacation time a priority.

Your family gives me a picture of what I have to look forward to with my family. We have a 3 month old and a 3 year old, and vacation seems like a lot of work. Vacation means we all the same tasks, but in an unfamiliar and smaller and more expensive setting. I miss travel and exploring, but I know this time is only temporary. Someday we'll have a way to get away together as a family!

Bettina

well done you!! you seem to have picked yourself up and dusted yourself off - braced for the next challenge :-) hang in there - and plan loads more weekend escapes to your country retreat!

Emily Clark

What a wonderful Connievan vacation!!!! I'm so glad that you found a way to make camping work for you. I look forward to more Connievan posts. I would love to own a camper, but it would be a bit impossible to fit all of my 10 kids in one. ;) For now I will live vicariously through you. Have a great weekend.

Clare

What wonderful photos, you live in such a lovely corner of the world, and yay for connievan and her new home :0)

folksmith

what a beautiful place to camp. love the idea of just parking the van and it's there when you want to sneak away for the weekend. great idea.

Hazel b Todhunter

Lovely to see the beautiful meadows, I've just been introduced to your blog by my cousin who lives in Norway.

Jo Roberts

Lovely memories for you and your family. I have been making a tea cosy for the trailer tent teapot see here

I am so glad you managed to reach a compromise and be able to use Connivan. When we first bought our motorhome she was 'stored' but it was a lot of fuss to go and collect, then drive to a site and set up on a Friday afternoon/evening. We took her out to the edge of the New Forest one weekend where they did storage and we loved it. From then on we were able to 'site' the 'van on a pitch and use her whenever we could. It worked out far cheaper too, and far less hassle, just throw the bits and pieces we need in the car on Friday and we would be over there in around half an hour. I really hope it works for you, I know you love your time in Connivan, we are still the same with our van, even though we are now technically living in her whilst we are working on a campsite for the summer.

Dear Lucy what a lovely spot. What a good idea! I would love to do something like that. Heres to lots of sunny weekends as we really need them. Had an evening walk up over some hills this evening and the fresh
air ,wild flowers, views and changing light were a real tonic after some
heavy rain today. x

kim

so jealous! the caravan looks amazing!

Hi Lucy I have followed your blog for ages and love it. A newbie to crochet you are my inspiration, thank you. Just started my own blog and just realising how much hard work it takes but am loving it. Hoping to come to your festival. Hope your hand better soon.
Lots of love
Dorothy
