Feeling a little down and very frustrated as I am unable to crochet at the moment. I know. It hurts. I'm not sure what I've done exactly but somehow I've managed to hurt/strain my finger. It's my pointy finger on my left hand (which I use to hold the crochet), so nothing to do with my hooking action at all, but it still hurts like hell when I try to work.
Feeling worried. I have a spectacular work load right now, and I am hoping that by giving my hand complete rest as far as is possible, that my finger will heal quickly. You have no idea how much I miss my crochet. I started making this potholder flower on Sunday night (excellent free pattern on Ravelry here) but had to abandon it in tears when I couldn't do any more.
Feeling full of snot. Urgh. I have the mother of all head colds residing up there and it doesn't feel good at all. I've spent the past two days trying to cope with daily life, resting on the sofa when I was able and wishing with all my heart that I could simply crawl into bed and stay there.
Yesterday I made it through till 6pm then went straight upstairs and crawled under the covers with a hot water bottle, leaving the rest of the family to cope without me. They managed, but it was not without upset. Little B tends to conduct his upsets at full throttle, it was not great to listen to.
Feeling the strain of parenting. Ahh Little B. At 3.5 years old he is putting me through my paces in no uncertain terms. Today he managed to flood the bathroom, causing water to rain down through the kitchen ceiling. It hasn't been a good day.
Feeling grateful for the long, light filled days we are having and the Greening Of The Hill. Always a high point in my year of Attic Views. I love this time of year very, very much.
Feeling happy when I think about the weekend we just had in Connievan. It was sweet and full of happy for the most part. Some cantankerous naughtiness from our 3.5year old, some dramatic outbursts from our 9 year old and some whinging boredom from our 10.5 year old. But all in all, it was pretty great.
Feeling optimistic about many more weekends with ConnieVan, I'll tell you the full story about her new home when I'm feeling a little more perky.

Dear Lucy,
Get well soon!
I am new to reading blogs, but feel compelled to write and tell you that I love reading your blog and seeing what you make. I too am a stay-at-home mum to 3 aged 9, 7 and 4 and really relate to your blog. Your home looks lovely and inviting. Since reading your blog, I haven't stopped 'hookin'!' What an inspiration! My friend and I are making plans to go to Yarndale now. Your tutorials are so clear and easy to follow. Thank you very much for sharing.

So sorry! I'd say, concentrate on getting well. Then you'll be able to catch up faster and enjoy your craft more. There is one way to get the essentials of parenthood right: delegate whenever possible. Get well soon!

I know the feeling,I have not been able to do any crocheting for about three weeks now, I have a great deal of pain in my thumb and finger! I have been able to do some sewing, and have been hand sewing some hexagons, for my quilt, still some pain. But I can't not do any crafting! Hope you are feeling better soon

Oh golly Lucy, I had almost forgotten how wild life with young kids can be, especially if Mom has the nerve to be ill. Best wishes for sending that cold on its way. My boys are 17 and 21 so the wordplay when angry is a bit saltier... I long for those 3.5 year old days.

Hope you're feeling better, there's nothing worse than being denied creativity! I had a wrist ganglion last year and it made crochet difficult but thankfully it disappeared!

I hope your finger heals!! Hopefully your family can cooperate while you heal.

owww. Could it be RSI, boutonniere, something else horrid? She says interfering-ly - I would - like Steph above, go seeking out the GP. More because your crochet is more than woolly-winding and waggling....and you are clearly missing it. Hope things improve soon. Hope the littlies are being sympathetic to your hurtie..

Oh noooooo Lucy! Sorry to hear about your poorly finger, we all know how much you love to create :o( I too would be sad if I couldn't crochet. Try not to feel too down, think of this as an opportunity to catch up on other things (eg finishing the bower bird tutorial?! I'm sorry but you have teased me showing one sitting on your bedpost!). I really hope your finger heals quickly, rest up otherwise it may take longer to heal xx

Come on Lucy, I think your old enough to realise that the sun isn't shining every day! Things can only turn for the best now! And your little people...I can assure you...in a couple off years, when they all left home...you will miss them! Take care of that finger of yours! Have seen a doctor?

Light & Love and healing vibes for that finger. This too shall pass. As always dropping by to visit your little corner of the world cheers me up and does wonders for my soul. Discovering that you are under the weather makes me wish we were neighbours so I could help out - drop off some soup, mond the kids... you know the kinda stuff that neighbours and buddies do. Sending you loads of neighbourly love...♥♥♥

I hope your finger pain subsides quickly and I can certainly remember my children causing havoc when I didn't feel well. I would go see my chiropractor if this was affecting my finger. I don't know if that is a branch of medicine that is availabe in England but they can work miracles. I agree with many of the others that I look forward to reading your entries so I am wishing you a speedy recovery from your cold and your finger!

Ohhh to not be able to crochet is the worst!! I have been on injury-imposed hiatus since May, when making your Easter wreath as a gift for my auntie set my tendonitis off to the most extreme ever. It was worth it since it came out lovely, but I'm itching to get the granny bunting going! I hope your kitchen ceiling and bathroom floor get sorted...3 & 1/2 is a challenging time! "ME DO IT!" is all I heard for months! Get some rest and some soup...and maybe earplugs? *hugs* <3

Hope you feel better soon. Same, head full of sinus, sore neck which is preventing me doing any craft.

Try some ibuleve anti-inflammatory gel (over the counter at pharmacy) on the finger, it might help and won't do any harm.
Get well soon.
