About Me

  • Hello! Thank you so much for visiting me in the Attic, it's lovely to see you. My name is Lucy and I'm a happily married Mum with three children. We live in a cosy terraced house on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales in England which we are slowly renovating and making home. I have a passion for crochet and colour and love to share my creative journey. I hope you enjoy your peek into my colourful little world x

I understand that if your local airport flies to Amsterdam, it's manageable to see the tulip fields in a day... We fly from Norwich, and it's a half hour flight. I understand that this year there's even a mini tulip garden in the airport itself! No need for a whole expensive holiday- just an indulgent day trip!

these aerial photos of the tulip fields are amazing! We cycled through them a few year ago and you have to imagine the smell too... It is unbelievable because as well as tulips some fields are hyacinths!

What a patchwork wonder ... beautiful!! xxx

Cockney Blonde

Your blogs are always so vibrant and colourful. Especially love the photos of the bulb fields, could easily be one of your hookie creations, x

Please visit the tulip fields - they are stunning. Go to Keukenhoff - the scent of the hyacinths is unbelievable and there are just tons and tons of bulbs - the colour is dazzling. I just stood there and gasped, "This is what heaven will be like" !! I only have to see a Spring bulb and I am transprted back to Holland :)

Ooh these flowers are gorgeous. I can see that you are popular with award nominations! I have also nominated you for some awards over at my site. Pop on over and have a look if you fancy. x

Those tulips fields are amazing- almost breathtaking!

we have tulip festival here the tulip fields are truly wonderful they are a sight to see I love them try and go every year you have to try and go

Love love love! xxxx thanks so much, Lucy, for your inspiration :))

The second picture of the tulip fields reminds me of packets of plasticine I used to get as a child in the 50s.

Oh, I love your flowers! It's wonderful!

Lucy, if you can't get to the Netherlands why not try the Spalding flower parade. This year's event is Saturday 4 May

Oh you've taken me back, I used to have a little globe exactly like that and I mean exactly like that as a child in the late sixties. Thanks for jogging my memory. :)
Those tulip fields ae amazing!

The splendid colour has brightened up my day! I need some of the sunshine brightness in my life right now! x

fee @ chipper nelly

love tulips, love a mantle full of memories, love Robin Hood's Bay (too long since we've been there) and love those fields. They look like they've been yarn bombed...!
Happy Sunday Lucy,

You've collected some really lovely pieces of art lately, this one is gorgeous. I love tulips too, and actually I love the contrast of their vibrancy with the lush green of their leaves.

Hi Lucy, beautiful colours as usual! It's mainly down to your website that pastels have been pretty much binned in my house. Tulips (and Gerberas) are my fave flowers, but my other half gets hay fever so no flowers are allowed - sob!

I first saw the tulip fields on a website called thisiscollosal.com It's a fabulous round-up of art on the web. With your eye, I bet you'd love it. By the way, the website has nothing to do with me:) although I wish it did!

Boy, I am a lucky girl because I live near those fields and they are worth a visit ;-) Love your home so colourful just like mine, love from Holland, Linda

Joan Old

The smell from the bulb fields is divine, especially the hyacinth ones, but you only get the full effect of the colours if you go up in a helicopter, or balloon. Holland is so flat that you don't get the same effect from the roadside.

Thanks, Lucy. I really needed that today. Just LOVE the tulip fields. The last picture of the fields has inspired me to make a blanket with those colours, in that order! It will be my tulip blanket!

I had one of those globes when I was a child-your photo made me recall the feel of the ridgy bit at the equator where the two halves fit together. Before I lived in Holland tulips didn't really thrill me, came back after five years with a tulip addiction.Loads in the garden, really miss the HUGE incredibly cheap bunches of all sorts of tulips that were available all Spring-as as for the fields...the train trip from Den Haag to Haarlem is lovely, any trip through the fields is stunning visually, but what you don't anticipate is the scent- many of the bulbs are Hyacinths and on a warm, still day it is overwhelming.

Gorgeous tulips Lucy, love your hyacinths too, have just blogged about my "teacup" hyacinths! Must be the weekend for flower posts :-) the pics of the bulb fields are amazing.. Hope you get to go. Nikki x

oh that looks right at home there, I love them.

I will come with you! That looks stunning. We have tulips from Amsterdam in the pots in our front yard. They are just starting to peek through. I can go all year without flowers but have tulips every week in the spring!

My mantle piece looks all bare and I hadn't spotted it! I want to give mine a tweak now, I have some new things I found at Camden Passage last week! And there's jasmine flowering in the garden. What a super idea! Thanks Lucy!
