About Me

  • Hello! Thank you so much for visiting me in the Attic, it's lovely to see you. My name is Lucy and I'm a happily married Mum with three children. We live in a cosy terraced house on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales in England which we are slowly renovating and making home. I have a passion for crochet and colour and love to share my creative journey. I hope you enjoy your peek into my colourful little world x

You use such bright and happy colors. These little blankets would comfort any little girl and her dolly.

French birds? As promised in October 2012? Please, tutorial? Please please?

As always love the colours!!

I love your blog so much and spend LOTS of time looking through it. I would like to make a summer garden granny square throw, but as I am quite new to crochet, I have some questions. How do you hide the tails of your yarn? I have searched youtube and seen many methods which only made me quite confused about what to do, so.... I thought I would ask you, the expert, (whose work I love)! I know that you tie a knot to add a new color, right? do you then go back later and weave the ends in? With a yarn needle? Thank you so much for your time! .... My dream is to come to a crochet retreat like you had last summer!!

I love your little granny squares for use in a doll afghan. Great job for Charity. I am wondering if you'd tell me what the name of the afghan pattern of the afghan that is on the arm of your chair under the bowl of tiny squares in the pictures? I love all your work. Thanks

I am a beginning crocheter, and you are an inspiration to me. Thank you for your wonderful craftsmenship, words and photos! I'll keep up with your posts!

Pretty bowl and such a bargain - our charity shop prices down south are quite exorbitant in comparison! And your teeny tiny squares- lovely!

I just want to thank you for your wonderful, colorful, inspiring blog! You have helped me rekindle a LOVE for crochet! I love your patterns, your tutorials, your happy, witty, sunshiney way of conversing with us! You brighten my day. Thank you so much!

Lovely, it's beautiful ...

Some dear person please convert the pattern for the squares to USA terms....I can't wait to get started! A video would be even better as this will be my first hooky project!

Love your blog...you bring crochet into the 22nd (?) century!

You must have a lot of patience Lucy, I couldn't bear the thought of sewing all those tiny squares together, have fun!

I enjoy following your blog. I love seeing the time you spend being a mom and seeing you with the kid at home or on outings. That in itself is a dying art. The art of homemaking.

You are very creative. I enjoy watching you create. I loved that wreath from a while back. I am a quilt lady but I still enjoy your blog.

Dear Lucy,

I think that people should hear of the positive effects they have on others and I just wanted to tell you that I adore your blog and the things that get life through your creative mind. I get such inspiration from all the things that get done in the Attic. I also think that I have started to live a tad bit vicariously through you (its not meant in a creepy way lol ) I have never been to England and your writing is so lively along with the gorgeous pictures you take around your neighborhood, it makes me dream of beautiful old buildings and historic neighborhoods, pretty hills and Connie-waging in all its glory :)

I´m sure I am not the only one that feels this way and if ever you stop and wonder if its worth it......I hope your readers let you know just how awesome your blog truly is.

So thanks :)

Is your knit and natter group open to anyone to join in or is it full/ closed to new members?

Precious little squares!!
I wish there was a crochet group nearby....

What a fantastic project! Something to be really proud of - can't wait to see how the cute little blanket turns out - I've just finished one of my own, but it took me about a year! I'm not as speedy as you! :o)

Lucy, I've been following your blog for over a year and I just have to tell you that your creations always make me smile! The colors are fabulous!! I just found a uk site that will also ship to the US and I ordered 21 skeins of the Stylecraft yarn you used on your granny stripe blanket! Can't wait to get them and make a granny stripe blanket of my own!!

Ahhhhh. you are a more patient woman than I. Although at times I like a little didley project ... i am enjoying chucky wool, a size 9mm hook and following your grand ripple pattern for a blanket.

Hi, Lucy I've only just found your blog /attic in Jan this year I've been following ever since. Could you please help? With the Stylecraft Lucy wool will that be enough to make a blanket for a double bed.(I loved the colours so much I had to have it) I think your tutorials are excellent /good pictures/easy to follow-I've made lots of flowers, leaves and also done a round cushion. Thank you for so much inspiration. Jo x
