Day Fifteen of this new year and it feels like everything is moving at 136 miles per hour. At least 136 mph, possibly more on busy days. Talk about speedy. The packing away of Christmas (which was only a mere 8 days ago) feels like it happened a long, long time ago. Ancient history.
We have already celebrated a Birthday here in the Attic when Little B turned three years old on the 5th. It was a noisy, joyous affair, a truly happy gathering of good people, food, fizz and chocolate cake. Awwwwww that boy! At three years old he is absolutely bloomin' great. Captivating, charming, chatty and cutesome.
Once Christmas went back into it's six boxes and three bags, I went straight out and purchased a pot of hyacinths and a bunch of daffodils to welcome in the start of the new floral year. The tulips were a surprise gift from my friend and neighbour at number 18, and it has been delightful to have these flowers filling the room with colour and scent.
I've been busy with my hook too, working up those colourful granny squares in any spare moment. I love it when the end of a big project finally comes within sight (I am almost at the border-making stage folks!)
The snow came yesterday, and the 136mph rush suddenly slowed to a slow, white shuffle. In the morning we walked to school as great fat, fluffy, feathery flakes tumbled down. It made the town look so peaceful and beautiful (the above picture is the main town car park, practically deserted).
Little B and I ambled our slow pace up to the Church at the very top of town, as we do every Monday morning, for half an hour of Mad Noise Musical Tots. The church looked soooo pretty in the snow I thought.
Today has been bright and sunny and the view from the Attic window of the snowy hills in the afternoon light was stunning.
I have to say, I do love it when our seasons in the UK work properly. When Winter means snow and Summer means sun. It feels right and good to have snow in January.
Cold though. Yeah, it has been a tad chilly this week. It's been absolutely perfect blanket-making weather though, so cosy and heart-warming. Just a shame there are needy children who have to be taken to school or else I would not be moving my butt from the fireside.

Happy belated birthday to little B !
I can't believe he is three, time has flown by!
I haven't commented before, but have been reading your amazing blog for quite a few years dear Lucy.
I just wanted to ask/say a couple of things...
The first is, do you/can you climb the hills in your attic view? I don't really remember you saying that you've looked from the hills to your attic, but I may just be forgetting!
And second, I was at a quilt fair a few weeks back, and bought some pre-loved sewing/patch magazines (like you do :) ) and lo and behold, *you* were in one of them! It was from the early nineties, and when you were making your beautiful textile pictures and such. I don't think you've changed a bit :D :D
You sure are one talented lady!!
Have a most splendid day dear Lucy, wrap up warm and take care.
Kindest regards x

Hi Lucy, and Happy Birthday to Little B! Love the photos as always, and the blanket looks so snuggly warm and lovely. I just put on a load of laundry and am settling down in my chair for some early morning crocheting. Hope your morning is good!

Yes! i totally agree - this year is flying too fast! Where are the breaks? I'm exhausted! We had lots of snow right after Christmas and that helped the year end slowly! Perhaps we'll get some more and that will help things slow down! You're snow looks divine! Here's to crafting and slow days with our babes!

i love all your walks but for some reason the slow progress toward the old church with the mad noise, through the grey wuthering heights, really touched me. happy birthday, little man. happy birthday, mama.

Hi Lucy! Happy 2013! What a lovely sight-all that snow. We have to drive for hours and 4x4 up a huge mountain to get anywhere near snow in Winter. So strange always to think of people on the opposite side of the world experiencing different seasons! We are heavy in our summer still. Today being a boiling 37 degrees celcious! Enjoy your winter and coziness!

So lovely! Snow makes even the mundane--a car park--look like something from a fairy tale. Enjoy your granny hooking and your cozy fireside! :)

Lovely snow! Though it can be wet, it can be fun to tromp around in. The chill it brings is a great excuse to sit in front of the fire and make a blanket. Love your pictures!

Your photo of the church is absolutely stunning! Such contract from your inside bright and cheery photos to the cool quiet of the outdoors.

I see the new year has started bright and cheery your way...not so much mine...FLU!(in 47 States) and if that's not enough, flooding all about. On the brightside,it could have been snow and with 6-8 inches in rain, converted to snow...well that would have been a Blizzard!
Happy Happy Birthday to L.B!Such a wonderful age :)Just finished a draft dodger snake(before the flu),inspired by yours of course :)Looking forward to the granny ta-dah.Yeah,those needy children sure can spoil a good thing ;)lol, have a good one!

I love snow and snow pictures. Oh how I agree that if I didn't have to go out I would stay snugged in for at least a day. We've had plenty of snow here in Indiana and due to having the week after Christmas off from work I did get to enjoy a day or two of nesting time. Lovely time of the year. Happy belated birthday to your sweet Little B.

I bought cut hyacinths and then noticed a pot on the porch was coming up! That's how warm our weather's been. I brought it in over the weekend since we are now back down in the 30's F. Beautiful pictures! No snow here. Just cold, cold rain and a little sleet and ice.
