About Me

  • Hello! Thank you so much for visiting me in the Attic, it's lovely to see you. My name is Lucy and I'm a happily married Mum with three children. We live in a cosy terraced house on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales in England which we are slowly renovating and making home. I have a passion for crochet and colour and love to share my creative journey. I hope you enjoy your peek into my colourful little world x

Hope your cold is going away. I have one too which forced me onto the sofa yesterday to do make-me-feel-better crochet!
I see that Simply Crochet magazine is available via Simply Knitting mag blog post dated last Tuesday 26 June.
I hope this may be helpful to those who would like a copy.

Nice Pictures!

How on earth do you get your kids to sleep when it's that light out??

Lovely pictures Lucy and do hope you are feeling a lot better now.

Beautiful photos Lucy. It's soooo green there.

Lucy, I so enjoy your posts! I live in the United States in Mississippi. It is outrageously hot here and we so need rain. You are so creative, both in crafts as well as blogging. Keep sharing your adventures, stories about the kids and beautiful photos!!

Loving your blog from over here in New Zealand - and your canal photos today made my heart smile -I used to work on the canal network before we moved out here. I really appreciated the scenery and serenity of them back then but even more so now I cant tread those towpaths - funny how that happens. Torrential downpours here too - love the way the raindrops dance on their sheet of water when its really heavy. Thank you for all your time you must spend on your blog - it's appreciated the world over! xx

I HAVE to have one of the magazines. I'm in the USA. Do you know how I can get one???

Hello Lucy!
I am writing this with my heart: several times I tried to do it, but I had not enough courage...
I'ts thanks to your blog that I have found a light in my dark times. I've been looking your blog for months, every single day, reading even the older topics: day after day, I am starting to feel affection to your Attic.
You have to know that I have an illness, and your enthusiasm for crochet, and for life itself, has pushed me to try it, to start it, because when I am crocheting, I am feeling better.
Even if I am a truly beginner, and I am doing just simple works, what I am able to create is giving me great joy, and is giving me the sensation I have still something good to do here.
I'd like to tell you a lot of things, because have the feeling I almost know you after having had read so much about you, but expecially I would like to thank you deeply, for the colors you contributed to bring in my life.
I am Claudia, I live in northern Italy, near Venice.
I wish so much to be able to give to you something in return for this, and maybe someday I will find a way to do it.
A hug.

I too love the long summer evenings. I find myself going to bed later and later, and when I need to catch up with my sleep I feel guilty going to bed when its still light, madness!

How truly beautiful you hometown is! I think it's wonderful how you focus on the beauty around you, I need to learn to do that more.
I hope you are feeling better soon!!

Your photos are beautiful!

Lucy, you are back!!! Yay! So sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well though...
I always loved your part of the world. Beautiful countryside and everything is soooo green. Here in the mid- Atlantic region of the US it is hot and humid. Being outside is NOT pleasant, to say the least. We did have some heavy storms. A few days ago we were wakened to a huge storm at about 5:20am. The hail sounded like bullets were hitting our house. I too love stormy weather and walking barefoot in the puddles and little "rivers" the rain makes. I don't think anything makes my soul feel more free than doing that. It's great that you let your kids enjoy it! Did they ever make mud pies?
Feel better, dear Lady!

Not enough rain in the corn state (Iowa). But really HOT or at least hot for Iowa. I'm sorry you got a cold. That is never fun! But your pictures are wonderful! Hope you will feel better!

It's been hot and humid here in the US. It seems like it never stops raining in the UK! Hope you feel better soon. Love to see the photos of your beautiful town! :)

glad to see you back! I really enjoy your blog!

Hope your cold goes quickly Lucy! Colds usually put you off doing any crochet as well :o( I just wanted to say I love popping in to the Attic every couple of days, I have become completely obsessed with crochet thanks to as friend and your wonderful creations. I want to make my home look as colourful and cosy as yours :o)

What lovely photos Lucy. Sorry to hear that you`ve been poorly, I`ve had a terrible flu-like bug for the last 2 weeks. Take care and get well soon.

Love Carole from Rossendale xxxx

Hope you are feeling better Lucy. Thanks for the canal photos, made me feel quite nostalgic! Trying to do your ripple blanket but crocheting is making my left hand hurt too much - and I hold the hook in my right hand! Never happened before, I must persevere, can't imagine a life without crochet.

If there's one advantage to this wet, cold summer it's the green. I don't remember a summer so lush and growing before.

Oh, Lucy, you live in such a beautiful place! Thank you for those photos, they have really given me a lift. I'm sorry you've been feeling poorly. What a "summer" we're having, eh? Over here in Merseyside we've got showers forecast for the next 8 days - you wouldn't think there was enough rain left for that, would you?? :-)

Your photos are lovely. I love to look at the heavy rain too although this summer I would have preferred a bit more sun. So glad you are feeling better.

Greetings from Texas! I so love when you blog about the weather, especially the rain. We are in a three-year drought and I must say I am envious of the rain you receive. I had to go to New York to see rain recently and felt like a kid splashing around with my umbrella. Thank you for these posts. Hope you are feeling better soon.
