About Me

  • Thank you so much for visiting me in the Attic, it's lovely to see you. My name is Lucy and I'm a happily married Mum with three children. We live in a cosy terraced house on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales in England which we are slowly renovating and making home. I have a passion for crochet and colour and love to share my creative journey. I hope you enjoy your peek into my colourful little world x

Love your Chevron blanket!
Which wool and needle size you have taken?

liveacolorfullife

I'm starting to get back into knitting and crocheting (I'm a quilter...). Your blog is absolutely beautiful.

Christina

Just wanted to say hi! I love your pics and your ripple. I have started my ripple but only barely. Had to finish a little sweater first. Hope to get pics uploaded soon! Have a lovely day!

Me again feeling like a total cheesecake!!! Have just re-read the pattern and now realise where I'm going wrong. Please ignore my previous request for help as hopefully I'll be OK now. Was obviously having a 40s moment, or a blonde moment (except I'm not blonde)....lol x

Hi Lucy - sorry to post this here but wasn't sure where else to post. I've just started your crochet bag pattern and got to round 8 when it started going REALLY wavy! I'm now doing increases every 4th dc instead of every 3rd. Is this the right thing to do or is there something else I should be doing? Also, why does it go wavy? I'm a novice crocheter (is there such a word?) so ANY help you can give me would be brilliant!! lol x

Hi Lucy! I have been a fan of yours for a long long time but I never dared put a comment on one of your posts. Your approach of life and your creativity are a real inspiration for me and you have no idea how positive you make me feel when I am upset with stuff!
Thank you so much for all the inspiration and motivation!

Lucy,

More than a week that you don't post...are you or your children ill?? I hope not, and look forward to read some news.
Yesterday I was thinking...is she pregnant again?
All the best for you and your family...

Lucy, I want to ripple along! I found a shop that sells cashmerino at good price, there is a sale on 4-balls bundles. It's called Cafeknit.com, have a look if you need to beef up your stash...

Susanne

Such lovely moments and such a lovely blanket! Love it! Your blog is truly inspiring! Have a nice, colorful weekend!

Hello Lucy, I love your blog...it's a work of art in itself! I have just had a go at crocheting the flowers and leaves you have kindly given a tutorial for. It is very straight forward but there was just one query I had, I wondered if you could help me with? When you get to do the 3rd round on the flower and you are pulling through your new yarn into the first of the chosen missed chain spaces....do you have a technique you use for then going straight into the first double stitch (or SC in US terms), as I have found it really difficult to do this first stitch without losing my yarn as it's not 'tied' in?!! maybe it's just practice as i'm totally new to hooking! Your advice would be most welcome....Blue Skies, Kate x

Thank you for the reminder that it's the small things in life that can add up to lots of happiness.

The current blanket is looking FAB! You're lucky to get a second flush of the lovely green Alchemilla, I have loads earlier in the year but never any now, its a colour that seems to look good with lots of other vivid colours, Johnson Blue Geraniums, bright Geums and salmon pink roses.

Melissa

I love love love your pictures! So beautiful and full of meanings! I love the colors and the most I love the ones with that small hands.. <3

Christine

Oh what a joy to share in your happy moments! Makes you feel good to be alive, yeah!

Samie

Hi Lucy,

I've started stashing Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino. I was wondering how many rows you got out of a skein. I know you do 4 rows for a color's set and that you started with chaining 227. Any help would be great. I'm trying to estimate how much yarn I'll need. I've only got about 10 skeins right now.

Thanks!
Sam

Hi Lucy
I recently started crocheting again after a 20+ year gap. Found your site via your crochet bag on Ravelry and just wanted to say what an inspiring blog. I have since made your bag and started a ripple blanket and am enjoying it thoroughly. Thank you for sharing your lovely home and patterns. I have to say 'I'm hooked' - pardon the pun!

Tracy Garrison

It's nice to read about the little things! I think we all need to take the time to appreciate them all.

Sounds like a wonderful day you and Little B had. I love all the beautiful pictures you share of were you live. I was showing my husband the pictures the other day and we both said how we would love to come visit your country some day. It's just soo beautiful . Hope you enjoy the evening as much as you did your day. Hugs

Hi Lucy,
I've started my own ripple blanket, but after only 4 rows, it's not lying flat - kinda looks like bacon after it's cooked! What am I doing wrong? I was so looking forward to making my own ripples!
Thanks,
Ann
