Oh the pleasures of Bridport and thereabouts. That journey from Dorchester to Bridport is one of my all time favourites- when I travel down to visit the family the journey just gets more and more beautiful the closer I get. The view ahead on last dip in the road before Bridders....sigh....

Hello Lucy,
Just discovered your blog as I was looking for something colourful to crochet now that the days are getting darker! I enjoyed looking back through your previous entries and the photos in this one as I actually live in Lyme so it's all very familiar to me! Have been very inspired by the blankets you crochet so might have to order myself a rainbow of yarn!

Thank you for allowing us to accompany you on your lovely break - I can hear the sea on that shingle!
Please thank your mum too for inviting us into her beautiful cottage.
There's a lot to be said for so thoughtful a husband - a Lucky Lady indeed.

Hi Lucy - What a lovely lovely break you had! I too just aDOre being by the sea, with the crashing, (or otherwise), waves, with the smell, sight and sounds it all encompasses. It is a piece of heaven for me and not one I get to enjoy very often, so relish it when I do. Your lunch certainly did look delicious I have to say, and that cafe, so sweet!
It must have been so grEAt to see your mum looking well and a tonic for your heart.
Have a good Monday and a joyous week.
Mo xx

What a lovely trip and I'm so glad your mum is so healthy now. Your mums cottage is just beautiful I can just imagine it would a pleasure to stay in that wonderful cottage by the river.

Jane

loved looking at your photos and dreaming of my childhood holidays with my grandparents in Portland, I can almost feel myself walking with my dad at Portland Bill. I love Dorset.

Alison

What a perfect way to recharge your batteries! I managed a trip last weekend and it was lovely to be away but even better was the welcome home!! So glad that your Mum is doing well. Xx

Kezia

We've been on holiday to that area of Dorset, and it is so beautiful, you have captured it perfectly with your camera! And I am just in love with your Mum's house, it is literally the house of my dreams!

Nanita

Oh dear, I absolutely fell in love with your mum's cottage the first time you showed us, how cool to be able to peek inside! :-) I love it all: the lean-to, the fireplace, the amazing green view from the bedroom window... Heaven! I'm very happy your mum is doing so well, and that you were able to spend a fabulous time with your family! xxxx

Christine

Gorgeous photos capturing a special time and lovely to have a little look at your mum's cottage - so pretty. Thank you for sharing such delights.

Looks like you had a lovely time with your family. Love seeing the pics of the Bay out of season - when we were there the beach was very busy.

Your Mum's house looks great - very cosy and welcoming :)

HI Lucy... thanks for sharing your little break away. I love to see your countryside, and the peek in your Mum's place was delightful. So glad she is faring a lot better now. It is all so different to our area in sunny North Queensland Australia!
Cheers

Hi Lucy, glad you are back, you were missed here too! :-) Seems a lovely trip you've made, and thank you so much for sharing. I've been to the south of England twice, enjoyed Cornwall the most. We stayed there in an old farm, it was called Lower Tresmorn and I just loved it there. The pictures of your mothers home give me the same feeling. Thank you for that. Great to hear she's doing so well! Did you manage to work a bit on your blanket? Or wasn't it allowed to go with you? ;-)

Mimzy

Love when you share your travels with us! I feel like I was right there with you. xoxo

When my children were little I never left them but once, and then I worried myself silly over what they were doing without me there. Your mum has a quaint place to visit. I love looking at English gardens and hideaways. Thanks for sharing :)

Samantha

OH MY!!!!! West Bay is my MOST favourite place on earth! This has made me rather homesick! My Grandparents owned a caravan on the site and we went so often when I was younger! Fond memories of prawning off of the pier, climbing the cliffs, rock pooling and trips to Lyme Regis - Just pure bliss!

Leah

Your mum's cottage is just gorgeous!!! I wish we had lovely old buildings like that here - they have so much character. What a wonderful break it must have been. Have a fab week hon.

Like all nice and cozy)) rested soul with you)))

I feel refreshed just reading about you lovely journey. Your mum's house is enchanting. The green door is my favorite, followed by that fabulous stove. Thank you for sharing your story. This West Texas girl feels like she's had an English holiday!

Your life is just incredibly beautiful. Beyond words!! I am in awe. Such a wonderful part of the world. And you tell it and show it so well. Thank you!!

I look forward to each and every post. Never stop!!

Kristen

Oh my! This is like something I might dream. How blissful is your mum's little corner of Dorset, in a little stone cottage beside the river, with curly window latches and the most inCREDible wood stove I have ever laid my peepers on. Thank you, so very much, for taking us with you. :)
