I've been sat in the Big Chair quite a lot this afternoon. I swung it around to the right so that we (Little B and Me) could sit and look out the window. It's one of our many daily rituals. We love to sit and watch the comings and goings in our street. I hope people don't start to think we are being nosey. Actually our street is very, very quiet during the day with only a handful of our neighbours going about their business. But come the early evening after school, it's all happening out there. Balls flying, kids running, it's a continuous stream of entertainment for a one year old.
Do you know, I sat with Little B this afternoon just after lunch and I fell asleep. Sitting up. Just like that. One minute awake, the next minute jolting awake after being asleep for goodness only knows how long. It can't have been long as Little B was still sat there with me and he doesn't generally sit still for very long. But it made me aware of how tired I must be, I must've been simply overwhelmed by the need to sleep. Mostly I don't seem to feel the tiredness to be honest, I kind of have an inbuilt springyness which keeps me bounding about no matter what. But today I felt it. I think that despite the early nights, I am just worn by the early starts and the full-on nature of caring for a small child. The hour or two prior to The Sleep, I had been crawling around on all fours playing chase/hide and seek. I had been dancing (quite vigorously) to Nellie The Elephant. I had been zooming cars up and down the hallway. I had been tickling/raspberry blowing/jigging/singing. Building/stacking/tidying/sorting.
Anyhow............what I'm trying to say in a very roundabout way is that I'm tired, too tired to write my flower scarf ta-dah as I was hoping to do, I'm sorry for the delay. I've managed to upload the pics though, oh my, it's going to be quite some Ta-dah when it happens. I've been wearing it today you know, it's been nothing short of Heavenly.
One more thing before I tumble in to bed.....over in my right hand sidebar, I've managed to put together a list of Ta-dah Moments. I thought it would be useful to have the links to my Finished Projects available as I'm often asked where this info can be found. Hope it's helpful.
All being well, I'll be ta-dah-ing tomorrow then, I am really excited. Mega excited even.
See you then xx
Nice, and thanks for sharing this info with us.Good Luck!

Oh I do remember what that is like being a young mother ... I think that's why you have to be young!
I imagine you are a lovely lovely mother.

we just did the time change thing (day light savings time) here in the States and it's completely thrown me off and I don't have little kids anymore (so really what is my excuse). Going to bed at the same time but waking up an hour later than usual, then walking around all sleepy. Really hoping that I'll get over it soon.
You sound like a wonderful Mom with your Little B ~ I miss those times with my little one (he's 27 now).

And there's my favorite lovely Tapestry Cushion! I love finding it in your pics. It's like playing Where's Waldo! I am cogitating on trying one of my own, different colors of course, hard to duplicate exactly, but it will be my Lucy Cushion when it's done. I have the canvas hemmed, just finishing up a couple of mostly done projects now. Its going to be happening this spring! i will be doing it on 10 mesh mono canvas, in 10 stich (1 inch) blocks, in various Different Brilliant Colors. The difficult part will be trying to manage the colors. I have never met a bright i havent loved, and am unfortunately ambivalent towards greys and browns. I will keep you updated! thanks so much for the inspiration!

I remember those days of total exhaustion . . . they are so worth it though, before you know it the little ones are up and out and you say to yourself? "What just happened? They were just here crawling on the floor!" Hope you get lots of sweet dreams tonight.

mmmm...peering at the 'this is me' photo you seem to be wearing a new shawl....clearly it is indeed irresistible!
Now I'm post 55 the waking up in a chair feeling is a familiar one- get more lovely sleep, we can wait to see the shawl in all it's glory ( a bit of a fib there, did you notice?).

Oh yes how I remember falling asleep without realising I had fallen asleep. I would say I actually got more sleep when my children were young, than when I was with my second partner, he snored and would wake me up, perhaps 20 times a night, I worked and looked after a house my three children and his three on weekends. I don't know how I did it. Hope you get some refreshing sleep.
x Sandi
I love your chair with its crochet colorfulness.

What a brilliant idea! Think I might create a tab with that kind of information for my projects too! Thanks for the inspiration! And I hope you manage to get some rest in between it all x

Dear Lucy! I have fallen desperately in love with your blog - thank you so much for all the beutiful things you do! I'm not a big craft-person myself - but I feel like I'm starting to become one - at least there is this unbearable urge to become one when I scroll through your pictures and posts! And apart from everything else I love the way your home looks too - and it inspires me greatly too as we have recently moved into an almost empty flat and I'm looking for inspirations everywhere - and your place seems just a perfect example for me! I want to make my home look at least something close to this. Thank you very much for sharing! Best wishes to you and your family.

Did you give us a little glimpse of your Japanese flower scarf in your picture?! Can't wait for the big reveal ;)

I hope you get the rest you need. As kids grow up you tend to forget how full on it can be when they're small!!!
Take care.

Ah Lucy that's the joy of small children. Severe sleep deprivation! Enjoy your cat naps though.

Hi Lucy, I wouldn't mind sleeping in such a beautiful setting. The cushion is gorgeous. I went to sleep last night at 19h20!!!!!! I was sooo tired of watching a fire the previous night. It started as a controlled fire and went out of hand. And we have a thatched roof!!! i was scared out of my wits as hubby was away on business and me and my 2 kids was alone. I kept thinking what I was going to grab first. What a terrible experience!!!!
Love from Cape Town. xxxxx
