I've been enjoying a spot of Mail Order shopping. You know how it is. You get an idea in your head that there's a little something you simply must search for. You go to Ebay. You search. You find. You watch. You get way too over excited. You bid. You wait and watch some more. Bid again. Wait and watch. Mounting excitement. More waiting and watching. And then YES yesssssssssss!!! You win the bid!!!! Punch the air! Run to friends house and tell her you won the bid! It's too exciting for words!!!!!
Bet you cannot WAIT to see what I bought, what got me so over excited. Shall I tell you? The post title perhaps gives it away. Yes my lovelies, I bought Children.
Do you wish to see my new Mail Order Children?
Here they are then.................
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww five girls, aren't they adorable??
They are of cousre Playmobil, and I have a slight obsession going on over all things Playmobil. Specifically the Female variety of Playmobil actually, oh and animals too. I'm not too fussed over the Manly Playmobil, no, it's the sweet little pretty little feminine toys that really melt my heart.
I just lovelovelovelovelovelovelovelovelovelovelove these girls!!
I bought them from a cute ebay seller called "Littlebricks", they sell little bits of lego and Playmobil in case you ever have need of such things.
Aren't they just delightful?
Yes. Well. It didn't end there. I carried on searching, couldn't help myself. Kept looking. Kept finding. The Little People became involved in my searching activities and they got caught up in my Playmobil obsession. I got egged on from the sidelines, I had to be very strong and very selective cos we could have spent rather a lot of money on all manner of Playmobil items. I had to turn down the Veterinary Surgery. Ditto the Farm Set. But I simply could not let go of The Playmobil Lady And Little Girl With Bike. I went through days of watching/waiting/bidding anxiety. Placed my winning bid with a mere twenty five seconds to spare. And this is what became mine for a mere £3.21..............
Yippeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!! The cutest little collection of coloured plastic that you ever did see became mine! The basket of veggies!!! the sweet bunch of flowers! The market bag contaning a bottle and a fish!! And a scruffy little Playmobil dog! Too much. I just love them too much. I fear I am very abnormal. I am a child trapped inside a grown up body.
So, I now own my very own Playmobil, and much as I had to instruct the LP about the Mummy Marbles, I had to lay down the same law about the Mummy Plastic People. Only it did NOT sink in. The Playmobil lasted on my mantel for less than a day, then mysteriously went walk about. Little Lady of course................
............she whisked the girls/lady/dog up to her bedroom and introduced them to the world of caravanning. And I didn't have the heart to whisk them back again because it all looked so good.
Here we can see inside the caravan, isn't it super? The food is mainly from her collection of Sylvanian Family toys (the bread courtesy of the Watermilll Bakery), and the little wooden table and chairs actually belonged to me, they were part of a dolls house set that I had more than 30 years ago.
Sweeet, sweet, sweet.
The teeny tiny cutlery in the basket there also miraculously survived from my childhood dolls house, which is quite incredible really. The food is a mixture of Playmobil and Sylvanian.
This caravan was top of Little Lady's wish list for Christmas 2009 and has been fabulous, providing endless hours of imaginative play.
Talking of caravans, we went to visit Connievan at the weekend to check that she had come through the winter with no mishaps. There is a small issue with the water heater and a broken door handle, but other than that she is fine and dandy. I took down all the curtains and brought them home ready for a bit of a revamp in the near future. I am incredibly excited about ordering fabric and trim and getting busy with some serious prettifying.
My world maybe childish and abnormal, but boy am I happy in it ♥

loving your world Lucy! My family thinks I am a little insane, .... now I know I am not alone! Your daughter's foray in to knitting really touched me, my daughter was never interested so have bought a sweet little sewing/knitting case for my granddaughter (age 2) .....I may have to wait a while! you are the best mom!!!! I loved your pics!
Many years ago I loved playing with "Barbie" & her friends....with both my children being special needs they didn't have the normal play skills so I didn't get to enjoy those growing up times like you are! Enjoy it, embrace it! It will go quickly!

Have you thought of making salt dough food? It's really easy to mould anything from carrots to cakes and looks really effective painted and varnished. It sets hard and lasts ages. I made lots of 'shops' when I was a child from it.

That caravan is pure class! I used to love playmobil when I was a young 'un so it's been nice to be reminded.

What a delightful post. It brought back such memories. It was the little basket of cutlery that did it. I used to have cutlery like that. Sadly a house move and a family fall out means I lost all my lovely little world stuff. Time for ebay methinks!

Suggestion for thrifty curtains then...on eBay there's a seller called favouritefabrics1. I swear I don't take any commission, I just can't stop buying her fabric with flowers or strawberries or cherries... :-)))

Ooh....loveliness indeed - there was only boy stuff called Lego around here.....oodles of it...hurt your toes on it....although they are man big they still 'collect' it...have special cabinets made to hold complete layouts...I could go on.....and you wait to 27 seconds....I wait until I see 15 seconds....I live dangerously!!! LOL!!

When I was younger and singing in a children's choir, I learned a song called "See the world through children's eyes." The title is the first line, and the second line is "every day a sweet surprise."
Your posts, and this one in particular, remind me of that song.

So, I am reading this blog post and I see the little dolls and I say, "oh those are cute, I know my 4 yr old niece would really like these!". Then I keep scrolling down, "OH MY GOD, THEY HAVE A CARAVAN! I MUST HAVE THIS FOR MYSELF!". It would be a lovely excuse to do some tiny crocheted pillows, table cloths etc...

I can soooo relate to your "child toy" obsession!!!! (was going to say childish or childlike, but that didn't sound right!) :D I'm feeling the same thing miles away (small world)!! I've been obsessed lately with vintage strawberry shortcake dolls. I just luvluvluv your blog, Lucy! Your enthusiasm is SO contagious!!!! :D
And your description of ebay excitement is right on!!!!

I can so relate to your Playmobil obsession. I am obsessively checking my mail, waiting for that one particular Royal Mail package (it takes interminably long for them to make it to Alaska) that contains my Playmobil Royal Wedding set. Yes, my current over-arching total committment obsession is Wills and Kate and their pending nuptials. I'm sure for those of you in Britain it's pretty passe', but I'm having a grand time with it here in my little very non-Royal part of the world. I already have a time-share plan worked out for Abigail (6 yrs) and I to take turns with the little wedding people.

I'm a big Playmobil fan too! My 16 year old son still plays with his sometimes when his younger friends come over. They are definitely worth keeping for the long haul. By the way, we have a Playmobil caravan that looks nothing like the one you have. Yours is very cute!

I can not believe how detailed those playmobil dolls and accessories are!

We are BIG Playmobil fans in our house too. We have a camper van which is fabulous! Have fun........ oh and I agree the caravan needs a mini crochet blanket and a few cushions ;)

I don't think your world is at all childish or abnormal. It is full of love, fun, colour and happy times and I know for certain when your children are grown up they will look back on their childhood with so many wonderful memories. You make the most of it while you can. There is a reason why so many people love your blog and if you want to call childish and abnormal that is fine I call it wonderful.

Miniature pretend things are simply irresistable. We all feel the same way you do. I wish I was playing with the caravan, too.

I do understand!! I bought my son so much Playmobile when he was young .... he never played with it!! I have since, reluctantly, passed it on to friends.

SO FUNNY. My kids were never really into Playmobil but OH DID I WISH THEY WERE! I should've just bought them for myself like you.

I have toys, too! Sometimes I take them out and make stories with them for my readers. And I love the pictures of your child's caravan play. It's fascinating. love, Beth
