I've been away for the weekend, escaping off to the Cumbrian Lake Disrtict with two good friends for a couple days of Girly Stuff.
As you can see, it was cold! Snow was falling as we set off, but we didn't mind too much. We had gentle persuits in mind :: meandering around shops, idling in tea rooms, some gentle strolling perhaps, nothing that would be scuppered by a little fallen snow.
I had a magical time. Lovely towns, stunning scenery, memorable food, a wonderful night's sleep. A hearty breakfast, more stunning scenery, pretty villages, delightful shops, historical places, welcoming tea rooms. Great company, lots of laughter and chatter. Time to unwind and recharge my batteries. Time to be me. Much needed, much appreciated. I've returned home feeling refreshed and glad to be back to my full-on family life :: nothing like time away to make one appreciate what one has. I feel very blessed.
We're on half term holiday now so the Little People are home from School and J is home for the week too. The weather continues to be bleak and wintery with bittely cold winds and snowy showers. We are cosy indoors today, playing, baking, hooking, reading, generally taking it easy. I'm so glad to be home with my family, I do love them so.

What lovely photos Lucy. We are staying just the other side of Keswick in May, we went to the Lakes several years ago and are really looking forward to our return. I have already been researching into the nearest yarn shops so that I can go spending when Ian goes on the more "adventurous" walks! Rosy x

I love Cumbria, not seen it cloaked in winter though :-) Camping in Cumbria isn't really suited to winter time.

Good on ya! What a beautiful place, even under grey skies, it's like I imagine England (outside London) when I'm reading novels. The latest one, Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie could have taken place in that lovely stone-housed village. Thanks for sharing your special weekend with us!

Oh... Breathtaking. My hubby and I have been watching and become completely addicted to "Escape to the Country" in Western Australia and my it just makes us want to move to the UK. These pictures DO NOT help. And I'd be very happy with "the white stuff".. Stunning.

The reflection in the lake of the mountain and mist is just beautiful. You have captured some stunning colours despite how bleak the weather was. It's always nice to come home though. x
