:: Saturday :: 11pm ::
Just to let you know I've spent the last f i v e hours writing up the tutorials that accompany the thirty six pictures for these little decs. It's a shed load of work, and I am now very very tired, but I am really happy with them and I so hope you will give them a go.
Need to go to bed now, I'll double-check them tomorrow morning to make sure all is as it should be before I put them up for you. Just wanted to let you know you won't have long to wait!
Night night ♥

:: Sunday :: 11am ::
Ahhhhhhhh GOOD MORNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tis bright and sunny here today and after a great nights sleep I'm feeling on top of the world!
So.................been checking over the two tutorials I wrote in a frenzy last night and thankfully they do seem to be written reasonably well. My goodness, I was soooooo dog tired by the end of it, my brain had practically turned to a huge pile of wibbly wobbly jelly. So I'm quite pleasantly surprised to discover that my sentences do seem to read ok!
Earlier on I took a few photos of my cotton yarn for you, with an idea that I might chat a little about the art of Colour Combining. But Little B has just woken from his morning nap and truthfully I really don't have an awful lot of time today for chitter chatter. I promise I will try and write a more in depth colour-post during the week sometime, and for now I'll just leave you with some juicy pictures.......
Yum yum yum yum yummmmmm!!!!
Right....I've put my tutorials in the usual place in my sidebar, down at the bottom left hand side.
Here are the links...
Now before I dash off, there's one more little thing I'd like to mention. I’ve been pondering over my patterns for a while now, especially as I’ve had so many people keep telling me that really I should be selling them not giving them away for free. But truthfully, I just LOVE the whole sharing, giving nature of Blogland and I want that spirit to stay at Attic24. The idea of asking folk to pay up just doesn't sit right with me, although I understand that many designers do quite rightly charge for the huuuuuge amount of time and effort it takes to pull a pattern together.
So what I’ve come up with instead is a magical Paypal Donate Button. That way, you are all still more than welcome to use and enjoy all of my patterns for free and I am extremely happy for that to continue, but if you should so wish you can make a small donation. I put a button in my sidebar down at the bottom beneath the list of patterns (quite a Long List now!) plus each pattern page has a button at the very bottom.
Please please please don’t in any way feel obligated to do anything, I truly wish for my patterns to remain free and available and there for you all to have fun with.
But I was saying to J that if I am fortunate enough to receive any funds on the back of my patterns then yiippppeeeeee it will go straight into a yarn-buying pot to fund future projects!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Woohooo!!!!!!!
It's very easy to use Paypal, and you don't even need a Paypal account to use it either (it'll take funds in your own currency from a credit card). But like I say, please feel free to ignore it and get stuck straight in with some Happy Hooking.
Thank you all very very very much as always for your ongoing support and enthusiasm for what I do, it means such a lot to me. And don't forget to let me see your decorations as you make them, and do also please add them into the Attic24 Inspired Flickr pool???
♥ Thank you ♥ thank you ♥ have a fabulous day!!

Thank you Lucy, and never feel bad about charging people for your hard work. You write and present your tutorials brilliantly. I've been able to teach myself crochet following your tutorials. You are a superstar.

Hi Lucy :)
Will you be doing a pattern tutorial for your little grannies with the flower?
Posted by: Bonnie | December 06, 2010 at 02:28 PM
Lovely decorations and a superb tutorial. I've printed it out for my daughter to follow as she's only just started to crochet. You've made it so user-friendly i'm sure she'll be able to follow it.

Next thing is then Your Own Book: It would be a bestseller? What do you think?

Wow! Good work:) Looking forward to the colour-combining post. I was wondering if you could give some choosing yarn advice too! I'm in Australia and always get confused with the different types of wool/names etc. Just looking at your pics- your yarn looks so cosy and comfy!

thanks a billion for all the inspiration and instructions
I wanted to order your Lucy pack of Rico Cotton (what an awesome idea that was - not my wanting to order it, but yours for setting it up), but in some other post you say it's "frustratingly splitty" ? What does that mean exactly? Does the fabric/afghan/whatever become fuzzy after a while?
thanks again

A quilting friend showed me this blog and today I remembered it and revisited. I was blown away by your color sense. I have never done any crochet but your pictures make me want to try. Maybe I also want the snow, the English hills, the small children, the great camera....a very enjoyable nostalgia trip for an urban englishwoman who lives in California and has one teenager.

Lucy,
I read often, but am not much for commenting. You're blog is an inspiration. Such beauty, the colors, your designs, all just lovely. Thank you for sharing your hard work with us! If I ever get time to make your lovely ornaments, I would be happy to make a donation. You're so generous in sharing your ideas:)

Hi Lucy!
I am soooo looking forward to reading your colour advice blog whenever you get the chance to pop it up. I am not too bad with colour combos but yours are amazing!
Excellent idea to put a Paypal donation button! I also think if ever you get the time (hard I know with bubbilies) you should publish a book!! Not just of your gorgeous patterns but also full of Attic 24-ness!! With pickies of baby hands & feet, Connievan, lovely lanes, jars of your flowers full of inspiration! I'd buy that!
I hope I'm not sticking my neck out too much but most artists (yes fellow crocheters- we are artists!) draw and source our inspiration from ideas from others who have gone before us and thats what it is- INSPIRATION not the dreaded 'P' word someone used a few comments up. I noted ur mention of the reference to the original source of inspiration a couple of blogs ago. But as often the case when you put yourself and your ideas out there- you cant please everyone!
Sorry for the ramble- thank you for being here and for pictures of beautiful decs and patterns and baby feet and snow covered stuff. You have inspired me to crochet everyday since I found you!

I'm sorry but I have to disagree here with what you have called "your pattern". To take someone else's pattern and just make a couple of tweaks then call it your own is wrong and what I would call plagiarism. You're better than this Lucy - at least properly acknowledge the original pattern author! I'm sorry if this sounds harsh but I find this unfair and a bit of a cheat if I'm honest. You have a good eye for colour and design so please use your own very good talents and not the talents of others to claim as your own.
I realise I will probably get some harsh feedback for posting this but I do feel I have to stand by my convictions on this and say something as I really feel it's wrong.

Thanks for posting the tutorials! You are so very generous! And I would love to see a post on combining colors- I feel a little inept and overwhelmed when I go to the yarn shop to choose colors for projects. Thanks again for all of your hard work! Cheers!

Your designs are so beautiful, Lucy, and it's really kind of you to share them so generously. (The donate buttons is such a good idea.) I'm sure your work will lead you on to more and more amazing things as Little B grows up - you are a very talented lady.
Have a nice rest now! Helen x

Hi Lucy, I only translated a tutorial from yours, as you know and gave me permission to and gosh, what a job that was! So I can imagine a little bit how much work this must have been for you! You're the greatest sharing these ideas and tutorials with us! Thank you so much! I'm so glad people like you exist and want to share! I really respect you for doing that. Chapeau, hats off, is what we'd say here!
Have a wonderful end of the year time with your family!
