It's been a most beautiful and glorious clear-blue icy day today. A perfect winter's day.
I ambled into town this morning to get a few last minute bits and bobs. I really enjoyed getting out in the cold crisp air, walking along the canal and marvelling at the water still in a state of deep freeze. The town was buzzy and lively with the market in full swing, and I felt so glad to be there and be a part of it.
Last night I sat by the fire until midnight for a marathon present-wrapping stint. The resulting piles under the tree were greeted with very, very excited squeals from the Little People this morning, and a relieved sigh from me. (Also I have to tell you that my late gifts posted to family only 2 days ago actually arrived this morning yiippppeeeeee, so happy about that!!)
This afternoon has been cosy and leisurely and homely, and I've loved every bit of it. Oh I do LOVE Christmas Eve so much!! So exciting and peaceful and warm and cosy!!
We lit the fire early on and nearly all of our days activities have been carried out in front of it, including most meals. Little Lady and I always paint our toenails together on Christmas Eve (excepting last year when Bump24 made it impossible for me to reach my toes)..we've gone silver this year instead of our traditional bright red.
I squeeezed in a teeny bit of sofa hooky time this afternoon too, blissful. I'm making a small doll blanket for Little Lady, well not for her exactly, but for her rag doll. It's nearly finished, I'll show you when all's done, I can't wait to show you the doll too.
My cosy winter pj's are all laid out ready for tomorrow (yes, I do like to spend much of Christmas Day in my jammies if I can get away with it). I've also treated myself to some new fluffy socks, I am stupidly excited about putting them on in the morning, I really cannot wait for that moment! I'm having a mild dilemma about whether to go for the stripes or the hearts?? I'm thinking stripes, like Christmas candy canes.
The Little People are tucked up sound asleep in bed now (it's 10pm) and the mince pie, glass of wine and carrot (for Santa and Rudolph) are sat waiting on the hearth. Stockings are hanging in place, and all is as it should be. Lovely.
Here's hoping you have a bright and magical Christmas, I wish you love, joy and happiness in abundance. Enjoy!!!!!

Merry Christmas! I have just recently found your blog through ravelry and I must say I am a huge fan. I love your colors. You just may have inspired me to stray from my drab grays greens and browns.
Wishing you all the best in the year to come!

Although Christmas is now history...I wanted to let you know that a friend turned me on to your blog recently. Your colorful, fun, creative ideas have enhanced my festive mood.
I live in Alabama, US...but lived in the Cotswolds for two years, 26 ago when my husband was stationed there with the US Air Force. I loved every minute of my time there...and remember taking my son on a sled ride on Christmas in the dusting of snow we had.
Thank you for bringing back my happy memories of my cherished time in Great Britain. I am sharing your blogs with my newly married daughter and my daughter in law...who is also a stay home mum of a three year old, Emma and Sophia on the way.
Happiest of Holidays...best wishes in the New Year to my new inspiration...thanks.

Ahhhhh....already feeling a lot better. Just popping by from the hotel lobby in cold rainy Florida. I need my fix today and knew right where to come. Sure how you went with the candy cane sockies to keep those toes warm yesterday. Hey, do those hobbits need any hot cocoa, it still looks mighty cold over there. Stay in, stay jammie-ed up, stay cuddled with family.
Pretty bummed I can't post down here, but looking forward to getting back home in back in the swing of things in the new year.
Can't wait to see you latest goodie. Looking good from the wee-little peek you gave us.
Love the last picture too of the tree lights a swirl, must have been from the buzzing around of the little ones in all their holiday fun.
Sweet hugs,
Kate

Thank you so much for allowing us to share your world - it is such a generous thing to do. I happened upon your blog quite by accident and what a delight!! You have inspired me to get back into crochet and knitting and I have made lovely new friends as a result when I joined a local knitting and crochet group.
I hope all at No24 had the most wonderful Christmas and I wish you all a very happy, healthy and "hooky" New Year.

Hoping you had a very merry christmas Lucy! Your home looks beautiful... I just had a read through a few posts at once, and was blown away by the colourful wonderment! You are creating so many beautiful memories for your children!
Have a relaxing week before new years....
Do you know, I cannot believe that your canal is frozen after seeing it in all of the other seasons in your blog! Rivers never freeze in NZ because it never gets that cold... I think I would die if I were there, I really would!

Hope you are having a lovely day Lucy.
Re your fluffy socks - please be careful, I almost fell downstairs this week because I was wearing my fluffy socks and didn't put my slippers on too. Fortunately grabbed the bannister, could have been a disaster so please take care.
