We've been experiencing some amazing October weather here in my little patch.
Walking to school along the canal has been an absolute pleasure.
Some days the water has been so incredibly still and reflective, it has made me want to hold my breath.
Such beautiful, crisp, clear light.
I've been out walking in the afternoons too, pushing a sleeping Little B around town in his pushchair. Up and down the hilly streets....
....through the dappled woodland....
....round the bottom of the Castle....
....and back along the canalside home again.
Ahhhhhhhhh! WOW!!!!!!!! Hello! Do you know what, I just this minute found this post in my Drafts folder, I had completely forgotten about it! I wrote it exactly four weeks ago on 8th October and for some unknown reason it never made it out into Blogland. How forgetful and ditsy I am these days.
Looking at these images has just made me gasp with delight, I had completely forgotten how beautiful it all was a month ago. November, by contrast has been quite disgusting so far :: we've had a hellish week here weatherwise, extremely windy and sooo much rain. I got wet through yesterday and the canal had flooded over the towpath in places, it's been horrid.
It's made me really happy to see these pictures again so I felt it was worth sharing them, even though they are a month late!
Wishing you a wonderful and happy day, whatever your weather.

I have yearned to live in England my entire life. I have had this deep-seeded feeling that I was misplaced somehow and should have been there all along. Pictures like these affirm my inclinations. thanks so much for sharing.

Stunning and it makes me "home sick"! We used to live in West Yorkshire in a little village, Mytholmroyd, and it was just like that. The walks beside the canal, through the woods this time of year was heavenly. Thanks so much for sharing and for the trip down memory lane. x

I just happened across your blog whilst looking for help making a granny stripes blanket. I couldn't see anyway of mailing you so I am adding a comment to your latest post, lovely photos by the way, I was on the Skipton canal in September and it was no where near as sunny as your photos, none the less still a great experience.
Anyhoo, I just wanted to say book marking your sit,e printing off the granny stripes instructions and going to buy some yarn today, going back to crocheting after 30 years could be a bit of a culture shock I think but worth it if it turns out as lush as yours.
Once again thanks for the tutorial.

Wow indeed those are beautiful pics... they are threatening storms or were last time I looked. Tree breaking ones, which isn't good when we live in a house with three large ones right next to us. Son asked if he could sleep in the Den tonight just in case...
Those skies are just divine...

The photos are beautiful and I'm all for sharing the sunnier, better days when the weather is letting us down a bit. I'm way down in the south, just off he coast of France, so it's a case of 'so far so good' for us. When the bad stuff sets in it'll be very wet and windy indeed - gales straight off the Atlantic. I'm a colour junkie and at such times I wallow in lovely shots like yours...times when the world was green and oh so mellow. ;)

Hay Lucy,
Enjoyed your pictures of the canal. My son wants to know what those green and blue boat thingys are on the canal. Are they house boats? If so, do folks live on them ?

Wow! It's amazingly beautiful where you live! To me, it looks like a fairy tale. Funny how things ordinary to one person can be so exotic to another...
