About Me

  • Hello! Thank you so much for visiting me in the Attic, it's lovely to see you. My name is Lucy and I'm a happily married Mum with three children. We live in a cosy terraced house on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales in England which we are slowly renovating and making home. I have a passion for crochet and colour and love to share my creative journey. I hope you enjoy your peek into my colourful little world x

Lucy, I'm inspired each time I visit your pages with your delicious photography of your many "wanties" and projects! And speaking of inspiration, have you seen the flicker photo of the crocheted cozy for a Smart Car??? Here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/starttheday/4727418295

OOoh how lovely. I have to admit I am also a terrible magazine addict too, even before I started writing them! I will definitely go and pick up Country Homes and Interiors from now on. I've been experiementing with my mags, buying Period Living and Ideal Homes but they're not the same. Lucy, have you seen Let's Get Crafting! Crochet Creative? It comes with some beautiful Attic24-style yarns, a hook and some very cute patterns, especially for Little B (I have just recently had my own baby boy- Albie is seven weeks old). If you can't find it round your way I'll try and pick you up a copy. Email me your address and I'll post it to you. It's published about 20 miles from where I live! Also, I saw something else and thought of you. One word- Plumo! The etagerie is lush.

Dear Lucy,

I'm writing in the comments section for lack of a proper email to reach you. I've been a silent reader for months and your world of color and words has inspired more than I can say. Your energy has moved mine to paint again, make sculpture again, crochet (for the first time ever :) and many more creative projects that have ended up in a new superspecial project which is a line of recycled paper jewelry, I have a necklace that I've designed with you in my mind (hint: color- color) and I'd love to send it to you as an expression of my enormous gratitude.

This is the necklace
http://palomaria.blogspot.com/2010/07/dianas-morning.html (It's the one on top- of course :)

Let me know if there's a way to mail it to you. I'll be happy forever!

All the best to you and keep healing the world as you do now through your words and pictures!

I'm so thrilled to be looking at my new Luc Pak yarn... But, me-oh-my...tell me you got all those stripes with just one pak. I'm thinking not, I know I will come up with something special to do with my new yarn. But, I may just look at it for a while, as it has to be something really, really special.

Thanks for your kind words, you don't know just how much I appreciate when you stop by my garden.

LUCY! I just got back from a week in Colorado ( a nice break from flat Lubbock, TX :-) and guess what was waiting in the mail???? My "Lucy's Creative colour pack" from the yarn shop you recommended. first-yarns.com!!! Oh my!those colors are so yummy. I think I will start the strips throw that you've been showing. While I was in CO, I had the chance to look in a really lovely yarn shop. They had beautiful yarn, high quality, but, again, in the muted colors. That is what I appreciate about this color pack. My kind of colors--and yours too, I guess. Anyway, thank you again. Wonder why we don't do these colors in the States???

Ohhh I'd 'eat' these magazines!!

Found country homes and interiors for the first time in Asda last week and absolutely LOVE IT!!! It's even better than country living and in fact have just sent off my two year subscription. Can't wait for the next one

How funny. Not two minutes ago I was looking at my copy of the magazine (the Easter one) with the tea towels hanging above that old sink. I thought to myself that they might get rust marks on them from those nails!!

I love those decorating magazines! are excellent and many colors!

Hi Lucy, I want to thank for het granny stripe pattern. I start with it a few weeks ago and now I made a post of it and named your blog in my post I hope it is okay?

Hi, I just found your blog and absolutely love that stripey blanket you are making. It reminds me of a blanket I made for my grandmother when I was about 14. I have been wanting to crochet some thing for a while now but couldn't think what I wanted to do,. I think I've found it!! What wool have you used for your blanket...the colours are really beaytiful.

WOW! :)
Such an inspiring and wonderful blog you have!
Thanks for sharing all the beauty and interesting words!

Have a beautiful day,

I stumbled upon your blog a few weeks ago. I was looking to make some crochet projects. I'm picking crochet up again after years of neglecting it. I am now a fan and following you now! :)

Okay..had to tell you. I have been sitting here for an hour and a half, teaching myself how to follow your instructions to the lovely crochet blanket. I did the 21 ch...and looked up how to do treble crochet, and I DID IT!! I made my little sample blankie!! But I am using a large size K hook. So mine looks very loose. BUT I DID IT!!!!

Greetings! So glad Garden Bell featured your blog. I shall be back, again and again! I adore Country Living too. Is the mag you featured a British publication?

Blimey Lucy you've done it again - I'd not heard of Nettlegreen or Red Berry! Needless to say they're now in my favourites. The kids got their copies of the doodle colouring books from amazon today - they love them thanks again for sharing! It should keep themm quiet for a while!!! Justine xx

Just popped over to let you know my Luc Pak has arrived. Yipeeeeeeee. Hope it get it up in one of my next postings. Hope all is well in Hobbit-Land. I haven't been posting as much as I like, the time just seems to be getting away from me lately. And then, for some reason, I just can't do a simple post anymore and ramble on.

Off a running, I just might have to cook something today...icks...

Its reassuring to know so many others share my addiction to home/interior magazines. I have enjoyed the pages in your blog because it will be a few months before those issues reach the land Down Under.

We recently moved to another state and even though I culled my hoards of magazines (and suffered separation anxiety for weeks afterwards), the home removal chaps swear they developed hernias moving all my boxes of magazines that came with me. Nothing like going back through them on a rainy day; I always find something I missed the first time round.

Oh Lucy!!!thank you so much! I so love your blog, it is so colorful and soul renewing!!! I absolutelu love that Jolly Time article!!! And I can not afford anything new right now, I may be able to squeeze out a little paint. I have several old "country-style" shelves in the basement, you know, country blues and mauves. I think I will give them a little red paint job!!! And I will have to check out Country Homes and Interiors!
