Hello my lovelies, how are you?? Hope your Thursday's been good? I've just been pootling around down here tidying a few things away, attempting to straighten our downstairs living space out a little. Tell me, how does everything manage to get so ridiculously messy so ridiculously quickly?? This house is in such a messy mess, it's quite impossible to keep on top of it at the moment. But do you know what?? I am NOT allowing myself to be dragged down by it, even though this volume of neverending messy mess could easily become quite draggy. I refuse to be dragged. I do what I can, when I can, I trip over things quite a lot, I lose things quite a lot, we live amongst messy piles. But hey, it's not so bad. We have fresh flowers over there in the corner by the window look and they are absolutely deeeeeeelicious.
These are scented stocks bought for a few pounds from the supermarket over a week ago and they are still going strong. I find the scent of them totally captivating and nostalgic. As I was tidying a bit ago, I bent over to pick up two felt tip pens, a stray sock, a muslin cloth, a rattle, a magazine and a barbie shoe, and the scent reached me in a great big beautiful waft of deliciousness. It was so lovely! I stuck my nose right into those blooms and felt light as a feather. Not a single bit of draggy-ness within my body when I breathed in that summer scent.
I am so busy at the moment. Busy busy busy.
Home-school-supermarket-home-cafe-shops-home-school-home, that was today's schedule.
I'm still milk tankering with Little B every 3 hours during the day, wherever we happen to be. He gets fed in cafe's a lot as I sit and natter to friends and drink coffee, but he doesn't seem to mind bless him. Plus this week we're now attempting to fit in two messy spoon meals a day in between the milk tankering. Oh the delights of introducing a baby to pureed foods, it's a fabulous learning curve and I do enjoy it enormously. Today we did butternut squash and apple, and it was a huge success, such fun sitting on the floor in the kitchen doing mmmmmmmm things together.
Not sure why I'm telling you all this, I hadn't meant to talk baby things to you.....what I actually meant to say was LOOK, I finished my round cushion, ta-dah!! Little B made it feel at home earlier by spewing up some pureed apple onto the side of it.
Part of my home-school-supermarket-home-cafe-shops-home-school-home schedule today involved an exciting magazine purchase :: Easy Living magazine (June issue) has a free Cath Kidston tote bag which is rather lovely (thanks Ange for the tip off!). It also comes with the CK summer catalogue and 15% off CK purchases until 15th June, in case you're interested. I've been dribbling over this double spread of desirable picnicky/camping things, thinking that Connievan would LOVE some of this prettiness. Floral melamine and spotty tin, very necessary Caravan Kit me thinks. So that's it, I've decided, right here, right now. I'm going to splurge. Yes, I really am!! Not often I splurge on Kit, and Yippety-yay I am majorly excited at the prospect (never ordered online from CK before ever-ever). Wonder what the Hubby will say? I've already told him just now that we'll Have To Have this kettle for Connievan, I think he's pretty happy to indulge me because he knows very well that this is the Stuff Of My Dreams. He's a good man for sure.
Ahhhhhhh lookie there's a picture of my bed! When I catch sight of my bed I just kind of involuntarily sigh with pleasure ((aaahhhhhhhhhhhh)). I love my bed sooooo much. Love climbing in to bed at the end of a busy busy busy day.
Which is precisely where I'm off to Right Now, to rest my weary head.
Night night all xxxxxxxxxxxx
Hello Lucy! I love Cath Kidston; we have a shop really close to us here in London and have to stop myself from going.... too tempting!! Well done for the cushion, I don't know where you find the time. My Thursday was lovely too. Met my yummy mummmy friends at a friend's house and it was great to spend some girly chatty time. Bliss!! Enjoy the weekend and your Kidston shopping indulgence!! xx Pati from London

I so enjoy reading your posts. I have become a regular Attic 24 visitor. Your pillow is so pretty and that kettle, oh wow that is just so nice and so you! I wonder if it is available here in New York State. Take care and keep writing. :)

Thank you for another lovely post. I've been looking at Easy Living in the newsagent for days thinking should I? Shouldn't I? Decided I should and went out and bought it just now. Opened up the new CK bag with great excitement only to find it was split all down one side... So disappointing! Resisting the urge to go and buy another copy!! Have a great bank holiday weekend. x

I often find myself saying to any dear soul who dares visit us at our place: "Sorry for the mess, but we live here."
The clutter used to bug me more than it does now, but I've changed my thinking. I prefer to consider it to be "creative chaos," which it well and truly is.

That kettle is just too cute! I love to see your blog pop up on my Reader page, because your love of colour and beauty, and your positive outlook, really lift my day. Thanks, Lucy!

I just love looking at your blog, so inspirational with all those lovely colours. By the way, I made your crochet stripey bag only in muted shades of pure wool, aran weight. Complete with stripey handles, flowers and buttons, it was so easy to follow your instructions and I loved doing it, so thank you for inspiring yet again.

Of course we love to hear about baby stuff, it's soooo nice to hear you excited and emotional about this!
I have just found a couple of websites which could be of your taste: http://www.dotcomgiftshop.com/retro-spot?page=1
and then a shop on eBay which sells very nice fabric for a strangely HONEST price...some of the cotton poplin goes for 3£/m, and I found a small strawberry print that was irresitible (not sure what I'll do with it, but I bought it anyay -totally hopeless)http://stores.ebay.co.uk/favouritefabrics

I so love my bed at the end of a busy day, but I also get my aahhhhh moments when I visit you and many others who always display such beautiful crocheted goodness. Love all the colors and the happy hookiness. Gorgeous! I always feel like my house is a mess, but my 14 year old told me the other day that he feels like our place is neat, except for his and his brother's bedroom -- boys can be quite messy no matter how much we try to tidy up. Best wishes for a fabulous Friday! :) Tammy

Oh Lucy I bought some stock from the supermarket last week. They looked so pretty and were just a few pounds. I got deep violet...and the smell was luxurious! They are just on their way out now, but I think I may well splurge and buy another packet as they really gave me such pleasure! Love the cushion ( an knowing that you too have things you make christened soon after!!!!!). I have so many projects on the go at the moment, it's hard to know where to start! he he! And, piles of stuff in the house...don't get me started. Where does it all come from....and why when I clear it, does another pile take its place half an hour later! Ah that's life, one big messy pile...but its a lived in life!......p.s.....very...very cute kettle! Have a fab rest of a day and weekend xxxxx

I love the new round cushion and the entire blog! It is SO colourful and cheerful.
I've been happily reading old posts in the past week and simply love it all. Would you mind if I was to put link to your blog from my blog? (I've only just entered the land of blogging and try to find my way around... but your blog is truly inspiring!)

Lucy, buying CK online is dangerously easy. I'm glad I'm not the only one splurging at the moment.
I got that magazine just for that bag. I must admit I gave the mag away after a disappointing flick through.
I wish I had some fresh flowers in my house, your stocks look lovely and I can very nearly smell them.

Oh, Dear Lucy,
Why stop at just the kettle? What about that tiered cake platter and those coordinating coffee mugs?
Can't have Connievan feeling left wanting now, can we?
Hugs from Melbourne,
Liz

Hi Lucy, have been a silent follower since I found Marmeladerose, I must have a thing about Yorkshire because I only just realised you live near there and so does Fiona. One day I will hop on a plane and make my way over and soak up all the beautifulness of Yorkshire and maybe we will bump into each other. Oh I live in Australia by the way.
Love your crochet too, something that I need to get into, have a book with the basic instructions, so it is just a matter of time!! Love all the news of your day/s.

Those things will be perfect for the Lucy Connievan!
I love how you describe picking up your kiddy-litter, but find delight in the scent of your flowers instead! You remind me to appreciate the beautiful things in life every time I read xx
