About Me

  • Hello! Thank you so much for visiting me in the Attic, it's lovely to see you. My name is Lucy and I'm a happily married Mum with three children. We live in a cosy terraced house on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales in England which we are slowly renovating and making home. I have a passion for crochet and colour and love to share my creative journey. I hope you enjoy your peek into my colourful little world x

Thanks for your colorful and happy-content posts. They really help on a gray morning :)

Yes, definitely a Cineraria - I know because we never had them at home - they made my mother sneeze!

Thanks for the cheeriness your blog posts bring!

I enjoy your blog so much. The colors make me happy. Soon, soon, I want to crochet something zigzaggy. Maybe that will be a summer project for me. I want it to be very colorful. It's fun seeing these bits of your world.

Your flowers look so lovely and "spring-ish". This morning, me and my youngest son (who is home from preschool today) went out, and it smelled and looked like SPRING!!! The snow has almost disappeared, and my snowdrops finally looked up behind it. Maybe I dare to buy some spring flowers today! Just looking at your photos made me smile! Thanks Lucy!!!!
Now I just gonna wait for your ta-dah post of your new blanket.
Have a lovely sunny day (I hope you have the same weather as I have today)!!
Love from Anna xxx

Lucy, I can't wait to read your Ta-Dah post about the new blanket!!! It must be so beautifull!!

that pink flower is bugging me now - I've been googling to try to find out the name. None of the above match :-( Are you sure it begins with 'C' ??!!!
I'll be off to the garden centre at this rate!

Such a lovely post!! Those potted flowers you got from the supermarket look beautiful!!!! I have to admit, since you posted the recipe for those cookies, I've made 4 batches!!! Found them to be particularly nice with cocoa added - but of course they still quality as "healthy" because of the oats ;-) xx

Sweet Lucy, thanks for taking us along and sharing your day with us...
You make me smile---every time! Your little Bundle is growing fast! xox from Cyprus!

Glad you had a good day - I can't imagine how you find time for any crochet at all so can quite see how happy you feel at completing your project! Those plants and flowers are so beautifully colourful and happy making too!

Lovely as always! Can't wait to see your finished blanket. Just an all around lovely blog.

Hi Lucy

Just popped into the Attic for my daily fix -had to leave a comment and say thank you for such a cheery blog - much nicer than reading the local news of course! Hope to get my hook out soon and finish my ripple blanket before winter sets here in Melbourne Australia. Thank you again for the lovely inspiration.

God morning! As always when I read your blog I feel very calm. I just love all the colors, the flowers and cookies. And when surrounded by the stress of being a working mom of two, that is just what I need! Thank you!

I really love your blog. Last evening my 1 year-old baby was crying all the way to the middle of the night. I couldn´t sleep and today I have to go to the child health centre and then I must go to the work and I am sooo tired!! But when I read your post it brightened my day! thankyou obaut your colourful flowered post.

I really, truly love reading your blog. I feel so relaxed and mellow after reading it, and I half-wish I could move to a little house in the countryside and just devote my life to family and crocheting and all that loveliness. Alas, I cannot, but your blog still comforts me, at least. ;) I love your unabashed use of color, your enthusiasm for life, and the thoroughly amusing way you write. I wish people actually talked like that.

Keep writing! You make a lot of us crazy go-getters remember to slow down and smell the roses (or daffodils, in this case).
And I can't wait for that Ta-dah post!

Hi Lucy, I'm finally up to date after reading all the way back from the very beginning - and it's been such a colourful, beautful journey. Thanks for making me feel like a valued part of your life, even though you don't know me.

Your plant is, I believe a Cineraria... have a look at piccie here:

Looking at its photo brought back a happy memory for me - as do so many of your posts.

In fact, I'm left with a craving to recreate the daisy centred granny squares that I last made when my strapping son was as small as your Little B...

Thanks again for sharing - best wishes to you & your family xx

Lucy, I have never had any children of my own, and so read your posts with no first hand experience.

All the same, may I tell you that it's really lovely to have seen these new year's months which were also new baby month for you, go by, and see how you and that little baby truly are finding your way together.

Pretty marvelous! And also pretty marvelous to see how you keep those older children part of this magical time.

so happy to learn that you feel more like your old self. you inspire me to look at color in a new way and to take time for enjoying the things important to me. that's the best part of your blog for me: you really enjoy parts of life (nature, crafts(art), cooking, family) and share that enthusiasm with us. i am always delighted to read your posts! i wish you and the family all the best. jane

Lucy I was just thinking earlier, you always stick with what you are making until it's finished. That's so restrained of you and with that super new book of yours too. Although you do seem to whip through your blankets!

Glad to hear you had a lovely morning out. Those mornings out are just the best. Those first few months are surely the most difficult so it's all up from here on. Enjoy your sleep!

buzzing with excitement to see the finished blanket, you are devine.

I am buzzing with excitement to see your finished blanket. :)

I can't wait to see your Ta Dah post for the Zig Zag Baby blanket! I have been waiting and waiting for you to show how it is turning out. Have a good day :)

Ooh... your oaty cookies are so delicious, especially with apricot! I've been making them every other day too! I don't even measure the ingredients properly - a cup of this, a handful of that, whatever is in the pantry - and they always work! Thanks for sharing the recipe :)

Gennifer Schimenti

Lucy - I look at your blog most every day. You've inspired me to learn crochet, which I've done by learning on the internet!! Any chance you'll give directions for the BEAUTIFUL blanket you just finished? I've tried to copy it by looking at the pictures, but I'm obviously not that good yet!!
Love, Gennifer
