:: wake up to the bluest of blue skies ::
:: pack a picnic lunch and head out for a walk ::
:: a family outing to climb The Crag ::
:: Follow the track as it winds it's way upwards ::
:: pause for breath and look back to see how far we've climbed ::
:: steeper now, rocks to scramble over as we near the top ::
:: ahhhhh we made it to the top! Sit by the warm rocks to eat our lunch ::
:: remember the last time we came here, in snow and ice ::
:: a cup of tea and a well earned rest ::
:: begin the descent, down the other side across moorland and pasture ::
:: loving the cow parsley flowers, frothing in the hedgerows ::
On the way back we pass one of our favourite pubs, whose beer garden conveniently sits right next to the footpath. We sit and drink beer/lemonade and look across the field to The Crag, and marvel at the fact that we ate lunch up on the very top there today.
Sunday Lunch with A View.
And how lovely it was too.

OMG Lucy! I took the same picture Sunday or maybe Monday....!!! That is of the bluest of blue sky - my husband declared I was MAD!
Why take a picture of just sky he says... and I say it's the blue the BEST blue EVER and it's not THAT often that we see it and it marks such a beautiful hot day and we all had such fun and so on, it encapsulates a very HAPPY day and THAT'S why I have a photo of a blue sky....I had a whisp of cloud too and tried to get a red kite flying overhead but I think I just missed it. THANKS for lovely photos as always!
Love X Susan

Hi Lucy,
So enjoy your cheerfulness about life, family, imagination, and creations! I don't know how I actually found you, but it was a blessing. I have relocated to Vermont and away from kids and grandchildren. I have always enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting, always have a project or two going but not always finished or it takes a long time. You have inspired me with your colors and love of life. Thank you!

Lucy, I do envy you those wide open skies and those rolling hills and all those beautiful greens.
Wonderful that you and your family can get out to those spaces, and get refreshed, and then ... go home to that attic and create, create, create. xo

Beautiful surroundings!
Just wanted to say thank you, I've tried crocheting your jar jacket, it didn't turn out perfect, but I really like ita lot! And - just as you said - very funny and quickly made. I've posted it in my blog.
Love, Annelie

Lucy- thank you for your lovely response the other day! I feel like I have a kindred spirit sitting in the English North. For a southern Californian, you bring to life all the locales that I have read in books all my life - James Herriot, Secret Garden, plus so many others. A hedgerow? is there a nicer word-picture in the English language?(perhaps only my other favorite - linen-fold paneling)
thanks for the pictures of what I imagine in my dreams of England!
