Awww,
can you believe that it is Christmas Eve? Already? How did this day manage to sneak up on me so fast then?! Here at Attic24 we have
stumbled very chaotically through the past week or two with very little
preparation for Christmas. We are are an exceedingly last-minute sort
of a family. So yesterday saw some slightly panicky,
mad-dashy, heavy duty present-shopping take place. It was stressful at times, but now thank goodness the presents are all brought and (mostly) wrapped. I am relieved to say the least, it took a lot of effort to remain calm at times yesterday and I am glad that particular part of Christmas is over.
This morning we walked, up a steep grassy hill behind our town, up high to look out over the misty rooftops. Fresh, damp air, it was quite wonderful after the commercial chaos of yesterday.
Back towards town through the woods, muddy shoes and rosy cheeks. Pockets stuffed with clementines and golden chocolate coins.
Emerging out of the woodland and into town for some last minute shopping at the market :: Seasonal greenery of one kind...
...and another.
After lunch, a little time to sit and drink tea and browse through my precious collection of Christmas magazines.
I'll be baking in a little while :: some star shaped cookies to decorate with silver balls and edible glitter. They will be wrapped in pretty cellophane bags and tied with ribbon to give to family and friends who visit us in the next few days.
We do not go mad for presents in our house, it's very low key. We buy for the Little People of course, but between J and I we have an agreement not to buy stuff for each other. Instead we tend to buy treats for ourselves, its easier that way, and quite a lot more effective and satsifying. J's gift to himself will be computer-related (his passion) and purchased after Christmas during a special trip to a hugely geeky computer shop. He will go with his Dad and is very excited at the prospect of this buying trip, it is already all planned out. Sweet eh?
And my present to-me-from-me is some soft and cosy pyjamas and snuggly fluffy socks which will be my outfit of choice for this evening and much of tomorrow. Oh, and look, I also bought myself two little books which I am very excited about. I cannot wait to dive in to those pages.
Today I bought us two new morning tea cups for our Christmas brew in bed tomorrow, cannot wait for that either. In fact, it has to be said I am rather excited for tomorrow. ooooooo yes I really am!
Our special Christmas plate is all ready set out waiting for the mince pie, glass of wine and carrot which we always leave for Father Christmas and Rudolph. The empty stockings wait to be filled. The Little People are expectant and excitable. Me too.
Yes, me too.
Happy Christmas to you all, I wish you all the brightest, happiest day, filled with love and laughter, hugs and kisses. Have fun!

It's so funny that you leave a glass of wine for Santa--what with driving the sleigh and all ;o). I'm guessing Santa's helper prefer wine to milk! Our house, on the other hand, is filled with the scent of potato latkes and chocolate coins.
Happy Holidays!

one of my good friends recommended your blog to me about 2 weeks ago, she said I'd love it. and she knows me well because... I love it !
I decided I would delurk on this post to wish you a (belated) merry Christmas -- it was funny we're exactly on the same wavelength about Christmas gifts (low key, treat for ourselves and not to each other...) in our families (although this year I got an exceptionnally big gift : the opportunity to take better pictures !)
I love your colors, your beautiful crochet, the subject of your posts, your relationship with Mother nature...
I'll be happy to follow your blog closer now that I know where it is ! ;)
