About Me

  • Hello! Thank you so much for visiting me in the Attic, it's lovely to see you. My name is Lucy and I'm a happily married Mum with three children. We live in a cosy terraced house on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales in England which we are slowly renovating and making home. I have a passion for crochet and colour and love to share my creative journey. I hope you enjoy your peek into my colourful little world x

My youngest is now 35 years old, and I can remember her first day of school like it was yesterday. I too cried. It's nice that you surround yourself with pretty things. Maybe you can crochet her a little something to celebrate her first day of school, so it won't be so hard on the both of you.

Hi isn't awful when the kids move from stage to stage in their lives, my eldest(18)has now just finished secondary school, and my youngest (12) has just finished primary school and is going onto secondary school - that one is a little hard to take, no more of my kids in primary school - so sad!!! My middle child (14) well its her second year in secondary and she knows it all - don't they always at that age!!! I just love you crotchet bag, the colours are just gorgeous, well done you - I think i WANT it!!

periwinkle

I cried too and ended up giving the teacher a hug because I couldn't speak. I posted about it and shed tears while I was writing... love the flowers

You're not the only non-crier to find themselves blubbing at pre-school this week. And I haven't been brave enough to do uniform shopping yet.

My daughter has just left school after her GCSEs, going to college in September, so I have similar feelings! School life is over in this family and she's a young adult now, I look back on her childhood with nostalgia but I have to say I'm enjoying the feeling of becoming "me" again and not just "Mum"!
Lovely flowers, especially the crochet variety.

Your crochet flowers are just lovely - I especially love the leaves. That beautiful afternoon light looks great - wish we were having a bit more sun over here!

Hi

I was referred to you by misssewnsew. She thought we might be similar. I have just read back all of your blog until Easter. It has been very pleasant! I love colour and am a very visual person too. I also am not looking forward to my youngest son starting school in September. In fact I CANNOT STAND THE IDEA!!! He is staying at home on Friday's with me - could not cope giving him up for the whole week yet. I have two girls as well - age 5 & 8. I really miss them too. They have been on school holidays for a week now and I have (for a change) barely had to tell them off (touch wood - as there is another 7 weeks to go yet!!!). In September I am going to try to set up a
knit and natter group I think. I know Vanessa from
do you mind if I knit. We have been away on crafting weekends together - it is how we met. She is lovely.
Well hope you have a great weekend. Like you I have a great view from my house but a small garden - which sometimes I find frustrating but I think in the end is a benefit as it makes us go out and about a lot more - we live right near the beach. We long to potter in little streams like you have featured on your blog too though - cant find any down here - pants!
Well I rambled on a bit more sorry! Have a great weekend - get the Pimms out!
Love Emma x

Hi Lucy - So much respect to you for learning to crochet - I am an accomplished knitter but would love to learn to crochet - I have just ordered the book you mentioned from Amazon, to see if I can finally crack it! I am also from North Yorkshire (Filey) and it is such a shame that it also happens to be one of the largest counties, since I would love to come along to your fortnightly knit 'n' chat group, but I suspect you are a long way from me? - Anyway, I really enjoy reading your posts - Natalie x

Gill

Don't feel bad, I have a post on my blog today about a grown man crying while using a public pay phone? He was talking to his mother in Afghanistan......interesting to say the least!!

It was my daughter's last day at pre-school today too. I gelt fine until she went to give all her teachers a hug and then it reaaly hit me that 8 years of preschool life is well and truly over, how fast it flew by! I keep looking at her and can't quite believe in 6 1/2 weeks we'll be parted, how I'll miss her!
Love the cornflowers, and can't wait to see the bag!
Have a delicious weekend
Julia xx

Alison

Aahhh poor you, hope you are feeling a little better now.
Love the flowers.

I love the crocheted flowers :) I've been looking for a simple pattern for them for ages - did you get the pattern from a particular book?

Simone

The crochet flowers are stunning. I love the combination of flower and button middle. I am looking forward to seeing the bag in full on monday. Have a lovely weekend.

Fi
