As I walked back home in the rain this morning I was wondering what to post about, I could hear myself inside my head wittering on about the awful weather. But really I am a cheerful soul, it doesn't suit me to be so cross and stampy-footed and wittery. So I looked through some of my photos and found these that I took at the beginning of May when the June issue magazines started plopping through my letterbox making me all excited for summer activities.
One of the things I love about this type of magazine is the styling pages. I love that they are often seasonal, and there is a humungous list of every object so you know where to go shop for "the look". From a visual point of view, the arrangement of colours and pattens is stunning, but it's also the suggestion of lifestyle that so grabs me.
The very idea of being in such a pretty kitchen baking gorgeous little cakes for afternoon tea....
.....or picnicing by the river under a pretty parasol....
....or tripping prettily to the seaside to spend the day at an idyllic beach hut doing beachy, summery things. Its all so appealing.
Oh, it gets me each and every time, I fall for it completely. I crave the whole lot. I love it, love the escapism, the daydreaming, the potential joy of an English summer doing all these pretty, lovely things in style. I am right there, baking and picnicing and soaking up the sun.
And where would we be without day dreaming? We would be stomping our wet booted feet in the rain feeling permanently cross. Now where are my magazines, I'm off to get lost in them cos the sun shines in these pages.
Your blog is having the same effect, it makes me want the lifestyle and setting you have! (Maybe with more lie ins...)

No time for reading these magazines now I have discovered blogging, although I have enjoyed wading through yours. They are certainly full of lovely ideas, I just wish I could afford it all. I rather fancy a nicely kitted out beach hut. The sun is shining here at last! x

I love your tablecloth and potted Germini - very summery. I have changed over to my Summer tablemats which was a Big Mistake. I may have to change back - but that would be like putting the heating back on.

I couldn't agree more, this weather is just AWFUL! I too love looking through magazines and finding inspiration for (or if!!)when the weather gets better! I wore my flip flops yesterday in the rain and I have now found out the hard way that they get very, very slippery! Kathy
