My beloved granny blanket usually lives on the back of the sofa. I am not precious about it, it's a full time working blanket and gets used for serious warmth, comfort and snuggling by all members of the family. But on Sunday afternoon it was hauled off the sofa, spread out on the floor and given a thorough workout by the Little People.
It started out as a counting mat, but quickly became a dance mat.
Next the toy cars came out and it became a road mat.
And when counting and dancing, zooming and parking were finished with, some quiet activity with the Perler beads began.
We only discovered Perler beads a month or two ago and it has been one of the best finds for keeping little minds and fingers quietly and creatively entertained. We have a growing number of finished creations, my favorite being the heart collection displayed on our window ledge. I have to confess that a few of these hearts (including the frog) were made by a grown up Little Person.
I managed to crochet a whole two and a half stripes on my ripple this weekend, yeah, its coming on a-pace isn't it? The speed at which I (don't) get things done around here astounds me to be honest, there never seems to be a long enough stretch in the day for me to really get going with any one thing before having to stop and do something else. But then again, thats what I love so much about crochet, the pick-up-and-put-down-able nature of it.
It was the first time the Granny and the Ripple had been introduced to each other and I couldn't resist a gratuitous crochet photograph.
Squares and Stripes, I think they are going to be good friends.
