Morning peeps. Beautiful aren't they? I always dither over roses and admit that sometimes I find them a bit too showy-offy and the leaves/stems a bit too ugly. But I was bowled over by the colour of these ones when I saw them in the co-op and had to buy them for you. They come from me to you by way of a combined hybrid Thankyou/Apology. Thank you to each and every one of you for all the wonderful comments you have left on my blog since I started out just over six weeks ago. And the apology for not replying individually to each and every comment...My email Inbox is in a state of collapse, and I am so sorry I have not been organised enough to reply to all your comments as they have arrived. I'm not exactly sure if its the done thing to always reply to comments? It seems to me it is and I always feel compelled to do so, feel that I want to acknowledge and say thankyou. But the reality is that I just about manage to squeeeeeeeeze my blog writing into my busy days with not a lot of time left over for emails on top. But I am going to try harder and see if I can do it because I like the dialogue that begins to take place between like minded folk like you and me.
Yesterday I discovered the thing called Stats, oooooh now thats quite riveting! I'm not much one for numbers but somehow the numbers relating to my little bloglett did manage to grab my attention. Goodness gracious me, it honestly feels a if I only began this blogging lark a spec of time ago, how can I possibly have made FortyOne posts already? And you wonderful, kind, lovely folk who take time to drop by, why, you've also been busy! Yes, you've made OneHundred and SeventySeven comments.
I have honestly been overwhelmed by the response to my ramblings, I thought when I started out that for a good long while I would be wittering to myself in cyberspace with nobody paying attention. You make it all so much more fun, really, and I thank you all very, very much indeed.
Now you see that award to the side there, the One in a Million Friend award? I was given this by the lovely Claire, ooooh let me see now, it must have been waaaaay back in March when I was first starting out on this adventure. She said it was for having a "fab blog and great taste"....hey now, I am keeping my feet on the ground here but I am seriously chuffed, thrilled even, yes Thrilled to be considered a person of Taste! Thank you so very much Claire and many apologies for it taking a whole month for me to learn how to actually put the award picture on my blog. I think the phrase that applies to me here is "Technically Challenged".
Back to the roses. I was visiting Mia's divine blog a few days ago and found her in the roses too, take a look here
to see. I love her blog very much and was delighted to find another
Greengate devotee, gosh it makes me shiver with pleasure when I see
their designs, why it does that to me I can't fathom but it really does
make me go all gooy. Mia was asking if you can overdo the rose thing,
well nope I don't think so.
This week I was browsing in Laura
Ashley and found these scented paper roses in the sale. They're intended for my
linen cupboard which has just received the Father-in-law treatment with wood
and scary tools and now has some lovely new shelves in it. I want to make it a rose cupboard and plan on painting it pink inside and covering the shelves with some rosy paper or oilcloth. Well thats the plan anyway, but as I need a gazillion hours in each week for all my plans, it remains to be seen if this rosy one will come to pass.
I am soooo glad you do not think one can overdo ones affection for roses. And that you are a Green Gate fan too. Thank you for your nice words about my blog too, much appreciated!

G'day Lucy, those roses are just lovely. I almost spent GBP10.00 at the Laura Ashley shop, I just stopped myself at the last minute when I realised the conversion rate to Aussie dollars. Phew!
You really don't have to reply to every comment, it can be really overwhelming when you get a lot of comments and then feel you must respond. Most people don't expect a reply. You could try a generic reply which can then be cut and pasted into each email saying something like "thank you for dropping by today and for leaving such a lovely comment", that sort of thing. I reply to comments once a week, usually Saturday morning, and if I have a lot I will write a nice generic thank you and if I have more time I will write a personal one, but only if I have the time.

Your blog is so lovely and you are so generous for showing us all the corners of your home. Keep going and remember that your spirit is SUCH an inspiration to me and others.

Hello!!!! Thank you for saying hello on my blog. Do you really think I should make some mini quilts for sale? Hmmmm...would there be lunatics out there to buy them? You know - I think I'll give it a go!
I always think twice about roses too - they flop quickly and I think 'well, I could have got 3 billion daffs for the price of 3 of you'...but they are gorgeous. I like the prickly stems (what does that say about me, eh?!)
And can I also say - your granny blanket is AMAZING, I am mucho jealous, and the alcove cupboard shelves - I am actually a shade of green right now. I dream of an alcove cupboard shelf thing.
Oh, and I am in the gloriously sunny (cough, splutter) Wakefield. Well, kind of squeezed in between wakey, Huddersfield and Barnsley to be more precise.

Wow, what beautiful roses -adore the colours it is a wonderful photo. Love the paper roses too. Lovely idea for your linen cupboard. I have a friend who has the most wonderfully smelling, tidy and beautifully folded linen cupboard and we went to Cornwall last week and she opened her suitcase and yep, it was beautifully ironed and folded. My other friend's was, well, just a mad scoop up from the (unironed) ironing basket shoved into ikea bags! And me, someewhere in the middle! Kathy
