Beautifl, lyrical summer Lucy. So enjoyed reading your lovely blog. Whenever, I pop into Manchester (being just up the road in Stockport)my feet always take me into Fred Aldous - then I get lost! Enjoy your walking - I'm another oldie goldie with daft knees, I love walking they don't!! xx

Kim

I always love your posts but this one especially, summer is my favourite season and everything you've written about just fills my soul with joy. Having recently moved to the coast we are exploring the beach, countryside and our new garden with fresh eyes, it's glorious xxx also just picked our first bunch of sweet peas, oh the aroma. It's the simple things that make my heart sing 🌞 Continue to enjoy this wonderful season and all it brings 💖

I actually love your post with all the goings on you and your family have been up to. It's like chatting over coffee and cake. Most conversations naturally go hither and yon. We have our 4th of July parade tomorrow.. then a family BBQ on our deck. It should be a fun day! Enjoy your week. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Thank you for the beautifully photographed reminder to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Your optimising is inspiring, especially reading this over breakfast, after a difficult night. I envy your long, meandering walks (since my recent knee operations have prevented this). Time will heal, but until then, your eloquent writing fills the gap and keeps me hopeful. Thank you, also, for reviving my childhood fascination with crochet. It's seriously competing with my usual hand-pieced patchwork & quilting, in terms of colour and portability. Please, do continue your blessed vocation of reaching out to inspire women all over the world, by sharing your gentle stories. We all truly appreciate the light you bring to our lives! Cheers, Lisa in Melbourne, Australia (feeling unusually sentimental today).

Ah, summer -- I so love it, too! I just can't wait for my husband to retire (only about a year!) so we can go off on jaunts together with little care about time! Enjoy!

kate

I love these kind of posts, inspiring, calming and just full of loveliness. And those pictures divine.
cheers Kate

Charlotte.

I always like to see your pictures. You appear to have the perfect places to walk. It is in th 90’s Fahrenheit with 95% humidity. Almost too hot to crochet unless you are in air conditioning. Finally finished my cosy strip blanket using your Sunny pack. This will be in our guest room until a grandchild says Nana with that special look. I too prefer Summer and have lived in a warm climate for many years. Our Winters our very mild and that is when it is great to be outside. Thanks for the pictures.

Everything looks so summery! I am totally in love with the colours of that ripple, and the sweet peas are just gorgeous. Little B is doing amazingly well with his crochet too :). I’ve spent a lot of time having coffee and cakes in outdoor cafes recently with our Guide Dog puppy but oh how I wish they would ban smoking in public places...I often find I am the only one out there not smoking :(

Helen

Always a joy to read what you are up to.

Sandra

Lovely chatty summer post Lucy. Love your catch ups :)

Lu

Thank you for the lovely post and a sweet reminder to stop and enjoy the view. Your pictures are so wonderful, and I’m happy Little B is taking up the hook. My son took up the knitting needles for a very little while. I hope your summer continues apace. Lu

A rambly post? You? Never! ;) The cafe in Manchester was called Sugar Junction and it was a joy to spend the time with you and Emma, especially high up with our bubbly treats xx PS the afternoon snooze is definitely something to be cultivated; 20 minutes is the optimum time I find as it's long enough to recharge your batteries but not so long that you think you might just spend the afternoon sleeping :)

Grace

So glad I stopped by for a visit. Beautiful pictures.

What a lovely summer post. Your picnics are always in a league of their own. I especially like the idea of some good dark chocolate. Love the dark sweet peas as well, such a sumptuous colour. Well done Little B on the crochet, I am mightily impressed. Glad you had a good time in Manchester, it all sounds very fancy. And a very well deserved break. CJ xx

Lucy, your blogs are such a joy! Full of everything that is "just life!" We do have such a lot to be thankful for in the mundane pleasures of the everyday and you pinpoint some of them so beautifully even the deliciousness of a good pork pie!! Thank you.

Daniela

Just about to leave for my 12 hour night shift in a very hot hospital, and your post has made me smile and appreciate how lucky we are to have our health and to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. Loved it. Thanks so much. Xx

Sue

I have loved your post especially as we were in the Dales about a month ago.
One of my favourite cafes is Bizzy Lizzies because I can get gluten free fish and chips there!
Your summer sounds wonderful and I hope all the fresh air is building up your energy levels again.
