  • Hello! Thank you so much for visiting me in the Attic, it's lovely to see you. My name is Lucy and I'm a happily married Mum with three children. We live in a cosy terraced house on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales in England which we are slowly renovating and making home. Yes utterly freeeeeezing. Beautiful photo's. Keep toasty warm xxx

Lovely photos Lucy pretty much the same here in North Norfolk, my king size woodland accompanies us up to bed every night since just being big enough to keep our toes warm, thankfully l am now on part 5 so nice and cosy now. ❤️

Winwick Mum

So much snow! We missed most of the storms apart from some snow on Tuesday so it's lovely to see your snowy pictures - there definitely wasn't enough here for sledging, sadly! :) xx

Here in the East Midlands we had snow all night and now it is FOGGY!! The temperature is now above freezing according to my small weather station. Lucky I have your Moorland blanket to wrap round me to keep out the chills.

Lily Davies

Lovely to see the canal under snow. We spent a fair bit of the summer tied up there in our boat and plan to be back this year.

Gorgeous photos - and the sledging sounds like fun! The lemon drizzle cake sounds like a good idea. We are having slow roast belly pork today just so I can leave the oven on all day. Yesterday was my daughter’s 17th birthday - it snowed like this on the day she was born too - we struggled to get to the hospital and we had very few visitors as everyone was snowed in across the country. Yesterday she was just upset because her first driving lesson got cancelled!

Great photos, your world is certainly different to mine. We have drought and temperatures in the high 30s - low 40s, I live in the Hunter Valley NSW Australia. stay safe

Lucy, here in my part of Texas we used to have 3 day winters. That changed this year and we've had a stretch of your kind of weather. You are one strong woman. It drove me nuts. I've toyed with the idea of moving back to my ancestral homeland (Scotland/Ireland) but I don't think I could handle it as cheerfully as you do. You are truly an inspiration.

Snow days are a wonderful gift! After two mild winters in a row here in Chicago, we finally got a healthy snowstorm in February. I'm a teacher, so I loved that schools were closed on a Friday - instant 3-day weekend! There is a particular beauty that comes with snow and deep cold. And of course, hooky goodness goes well with snow falling outside your windows.

Carolyn wood

Looks beautiful! We still having warm temps here in n.z
29degrees Tom, too hot!

Cathy D

Snowy greetings to you from Michigan, where two days ago we had 60 degree weather, next day had 7 inches of snow! We long for Spring to permanently arrive, sunshine and warm breezes. I love your blog, you inspire me every day!!

Teresa Kasner

Wow.. you sure did get quite the snowstorm! I'm glad you got to play in it and that you were still able to get the things you need to feed yourself and keep warm. And yes.. I have a Lucy blanket to keep me warm, too! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Another one here from Australia wishing for some time in the snow. Have some 35 days coming up again here in Perth next week even though it’s Autumn. The photos are amazing.

So glad to know that you are safe. When we see the news of bridge collapse in Skipton and the wind and the snow just hope that all are warm and safe. There is a terrible storm headed for the Northeast of the US. What a year for strange weather.

Wow you had lots of snow, lovely photos. We had some in Lincolnshire. Enough for the teens school and college to stop running buses and shut the buildings declaring them unsafe. They both had 3 days off. Cathy x

After a particularly hot and humid summer here in Sydney, what I’d give for a couple of days in the snow ⛄️ Although, having spent most of my life in Lancashire, I remember how hard it is to get about. I’ve been working the Woodland blanket through the hot hot months. Hate the sound of squeaky yarn on my hook! 😊

33 deg Celsius here in southern Australia.... the only snow is in my freezer !

Heather Braithwaite Simmons

I’ve got part of a crocheted blanket to wrap around myself as I am still working on my woodlands CAL project. I’m especially enjoying the bright colors. Stay warm everyone.

Here in California we are finally being deluged with rain and snow in the Sierra Mts
We were starting to worry we would go through Winter with hardly any rain and slip into yet another ghastly drought. So happy for the rain ☔️ YAY! Stay warm and dry and safe everyone !

Wonderful photos, the light in the first one is magical. Just a day and a half off school here, but we have been making the most of it. As you say, it is a bit of a rarity in the southwest. I was telling the middle boy earlier that it might be another seven years until we get more, by which time he'll be 19. Glad you are all making some good snow memories. Your day inside with baking sounds blissful. I was barely allowed any indoor time at all today, I'm quite worn out now. I shall designate tomorrow as baking day. CJ xx

Gosh, I know the feeling. I live in Scotland, but I have never seen snow so deep. It was utterly surreal. I grabbed one of my own crochet projects -- an odds and ends blanket -- to work on. Lots of warm drinks, too.

Stay safe and warm! <3

I'm jealous Lucy. We're in Sussex and we were promised snow but we've had barely an inch. Make the most of it. Temperature is to rise next week. Bring on spring!

Bit to snowed in is it. Time for it to melt end let the daily routine take it's turn. I wanted to take the bike yesterday and my wheels were frozen, can you image!Had to take the car, which muttered too of the cold. Next week will be better. If not I file a complaint to frau Holle XD

Heidi Clarke

I was wondering on Winwick knit n matter how many beds have one of your blankets at the moment, mine has a cupcake one on my side hubby doesn't feel the cold!
We haven't had much snow in North Essex until 4pm today Friday now about 3".

The photos are beautiful Lucy, thank you for posting. You paint a lovely scene in words - cosy house, smell of fresh baking, nibbling and sipping on comfort food and drink, wrapped up snug with your crotchet and surrounded by your 3 precious gems. Xx
