About Me

  • Hello! Thank you so much for visiting me in the Attic, it's lovely to see you. My name is Lucy and I'm a happily married Mum with three children. We live in a cosy terraced house on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales in England which we are slowly renovating and making home. I have a passion for crochet and colour and love to share my creative journey. I hope you enjoy your peek into my colourful little world x

Spring and Autumn are definitely my favourite seasons mainly because of the colours and when the sky is clear it looks like it's been washed clean.

Me too, me too. I just love these spring colours. And your blanket seems to burst with the happy emotions of springtime... And then we have so much to look forward to because summer and its colours will come soon... Happy May!

I love this park :) I sometimes go up there and just sit in the wide open space and take it all in. We'll have to take a picnic one day Lucy and go and do some park hooky. See you soon, loads of love xxxxxxxxxx

Our French Oasis

Isn't it just so true how the weather affect can affect our mood. When it's raining I am gloomy but then the sun comes out and I completely forget I was gloomy! I always remind myself rain is good for the garden!

Today, while walking with my dog in the wood I thought, how lovely May is. Not too hot, not too cold, greeny greens, blossoming flowers and trees!

Lovely post Lucy - raining here too so your post has brighened my day xx

The weather affects my mood terribly so at the minute I'm happy with sunshine then miserable as heck!! Jekyll and Hyde eat your heart out!!

Lovely photos Lucy and our weather further South is just as changeable. I am about to go on a long walk and don't know what to wear!! Love your blanket and my cosy stripy blanket is progressing.

Ever the traveler

Thank you again for these beautiful pictures. I was just reading a mystery by Susan Hill that takes place in a fictional cathedral town that the author says compares with Exeter. Curiosity sent me on a search of some of the most beautiful countryside in England, and your photos of green hills remind me of those.

Yes another fresh blue sky morning here in Perth Western Australia. I too love those colours of your granny square blanket. I'm busy knitting however a cotton baby blanket for my daughter due in about 7 weeks. Also dishcloths for my stall. So looking forward to doing something for myself eg crocheted blanket. Once again thank you for sharing you photos. Looking forward to buying the Yarndale Calander later this year. 😊

Here in Western Australia We are having foggy mornings followed by beautiful days. My ripple blanket is a bit unloved at the moment as I am knitting socks.I think there are a lot of people madly knitting wooly socks Since you posted the info about the sockalong. Its been fun.

Love your photos, Lucy. A visit to Yorkshire is on my bucket list, since my ancestors are from there. Here in New York we are in full bloom. The maple leaves are unfurled, and I have noticed that the wisteria is blossoming. My favorites, lily of the valley, should be out this week. Your Harmony blanket is lovely...that might be my next project after the Cosy Blanket.

Here in NY, we had snow just 3 weeks ago and today it was 86 degrees! Just crazy - no spring! Just directly from winter to summer.
Hope you can go for your walk this weekend!

Thankyou for another lovely post and a glimpse of your blanket which is looking lovely, cant wait to see what the pattern is exactly. We have changeable weather too, last night the most beautiful sunset and today lovely and sunny, hope it last for tomorrow as it is Mothers Day here in NZ, we are going out for lunch Mum, daughter and grand daughter which will be lovely, grandpa too of course !! Carolyn.

your post sounds like new jersey-
right now it is like summer and some cars have to use their windshield wipers to clear their windows of pollen.
but the garden is beautiful-so no complaints

Oh my gosh. I live in the middle of Iowa in the US. Our weather is exactly the same. It has been raining buckets the last several days, but last evening the sun came out and it was just about perfect. We were back to overcast and dreary today. The crabapples are just starting to drop their blossoms, but the iris is just about to bloom. I love your blog and get so much inspiration for me and my little crochet projects. Thank you!!!!!

Hi Lucy.i love your blog. I'm from Australia and I'm coming through Skipton on Monday. I'd really really like to see bluebells!! Are they close to town? Are the woods you talk about easy to find? I'm planning on coming to Coopers for a coffee too!! Thanks. Beth.

Hi Lucy
Your crochet basket full of yarn looks lovely and the blanket is gorgeous! I'm currently hooking lots of granny squares using your granny patchwork blanket pattern.
Its raining here and has been since tea time. I did however manage a cup of tea in the garden this morning whilst listening to the birds singing, it was so relaxing.
Enjoy your weekend!

It can be the same where I live this time of year too, so you're not alone. Earlier this week it was cold and rainy and today it's sunny and almost hot! I wore shorts and flip-flops today. Who knows what I'll wear tomorrow! :)

Funny how we have been having very similar weather here in Texas (USA). We have a joke here that goes "if you don't like the weather, wait a minute and it will change!" In the spring that is especially true. Last weekend it was sunny and 80 degrees F, followed by rain and in the 60's(F). Yesterday afternoon and evening we had a tornado close by and it poured down rain. The tornadoes are scary but normal for here. It does seem that our flowers and trees are enjoying the rain as they are blooming beautifully. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

It's been dark grey here as well, but very beautiful with white gulls wheeling in the wind and trees bending and waving. I always think that the sun and the blue sky are all the lovelier for not being here all the time. When the do finally appear they are completely glorious. And without the rain there wouldn't be that breathtaking green. So I never mind too much whatever the weather is, and I'm always happy to be cosy inside if it's too rough. Wishing you a good weekend Lucy. CJ xx

loving your pinks, blues, mauves, greens and your crochet - also loving your aeroplanes down Aireville Park - go for it!! Roll on summer and hope you have a lovely weekend Xx lots of love Joy Xx

Just contemplating making a blanket for a friend's new granddaughter born just a few days ago, a May baby, should be a nice project for a week's holiday by the sea love the photos love Jenny xx
