About Me

  • Hello! Thank you so much for visiting me in the Attic, it's lovely to see you. My name is Lucy and I'm a happily married Mum with three children. We live in a cosy terraced house on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales in England which we are slowly renovating and making home. I have a passion for crochet and colour and love to share my creative journey. I hope you enjoy your peek into my colourful little world x

oh your photos are so lovely Lucy - looks like a great holiday despite the cold. I've never been to Dorset, but you make me want to visit it!

Cotton On is just fabulous isn't it - I've just finished a vintage stripe blanket in it and covered a couple of coat hangers and they look just fabulous!

It may have been cold Lucy but it looked absolutely wonderful. How lovely to be able to share your childhood memories with your little ones :-) nikki

it looks like you had a fabulous time, Lucy - I'm so glad it stayed dry for you, even if it was bitterly cold. I live a few miles from the sea in North Wales, with views of it from my bedroom window, and I forget how strange it must be to be landlocked and to need to travel to see the vast expanses of water. Thank you for sharing the photos with us, they're lovely. Enjoy your time at home, and don't worry too much about housework, dust will be there when we aren't! xx

Oh Lucy, I feel as if I have been there with you being refreshed by the wind and the waves and the colors ... all lovely as can be. You have the gift of transporting your reader with your lilting words and your appreciation of it all. Many thanks. Warm hugs.

Envy...that's all I can say. XOXO

Gorgeous pictures as always Lucy, I especially like the first one with all the fishing floats. I have a couple of old glass ones somewhere I must search them out! The only yarn shop close to me sells James C Brett, but doesn't have Cotton On, I will have to see if they can stock it, the colours look gorgeous. I wrote about sea glass on my blog recently, did you find any on this trip, I know you have done before. Rowen@Coastal Colours x

It's lovely to see your photo's I live about 1/2 an hour from West Bay and when you live that close you sort of take it for granted So its lovely to see other people enjoying it, and lovely to hear you remembering it as a child, especailly the pink house. xx

It may have been cold, but the warmth of your love for this place and the times you spend there are very evident.

Such a gorgeous place, I never tire of seeing pictures. The sea can be so soothing, and that salty sea air is worth a million! In just twenty days we're off to the sea ourselves, to spend a month with my boyfriend's parents who live right on the Mediterranean shore. You've just made me crave for it even more! :-) xxxx

Thank you for sharing your Dorset holiday. You're very lucky to have grown up in such a lovely place. I know what you mean about the sea. It's the highlight of my year if/when we manage to get to the sea. I always hate to leave and can't wait to return. I love the colours of your hooky project.

the colour of your soul? what a lovely idea. must think about that one...

sigh.....i really must visit you're country one day...love it!

Hi Lucy, great to see the places you love again. The hills do look a lot browner than usual but still gorgeous.
Every year you find some lovely new corners to share, the first picture is wonderful, and the pink cottage.

Oh I love Dorset, you have made me long for the sea. We always stop in Beer which is East Devon but never fail to make our way along the coast to West Bay, Lyme Regis, Burton Bradstock and Charmouth. My son is 16 now but his earliest memories are of this scenery. Thank you for sharing and making my heart yearn for the coast and some new places to visit. Sarah x

What a beautiful place thank you for sharing a little snippet of your holiday x

I love you holiday photos Lucy. We were down south too - in Cornwall, then round the corner from you in South Devon. You are right - it was flamin' freeeeezing! That chill wind was a little more than refreshing!
Our hols were also spent on the beach, eating cake and indulging in some hooky.
I didn't lie flat on the beach though!
Happy days

I do love your holiday posts! We've been looking at relocating to Dorset or Hampshire, so I found your posts particularly interesting right now. Having grown up in a very different type of seaside place near Blackpool but now living in the Midlands, I'd love my kids to have the freedom they can't get here in the city. How was Dorset growing up as a teenager?

So glad you had a great break. We have just spent a couple of days in Guernsey. Goodness it was cold! But so so nice to see the sun. :)
Thankfully washing completed yesterday whilst the sun (and wind) were still around.
Back to rain here in Sussex today.
Hope you all enjoy the rest of the Easter holidays.
The first cricket match for my son is on Friday. Please let it be a bit warmer.
Sitting watching him for 5 hours when it's only 5 degrees isn't quite so appealing as sitting in 18 degrees in the sun!!

Ada Bea

The photos look lovely Lucy, but I can appreciate how cold it was, that wind is biting! Look forward to seeing more! :) x

Hi There, What a wonderful holiday you had!!!!! It's good to get away from everything (phones, internet and so on)I would love to not hear a ringing phone just for a week or even a day!!!! Welcome back!!! Can't wait to see your finished basket!!!

Wonderful photos, looks like a good time was has by all. I alway wonder at the ever changing colours of the sea, I know I'm very lucky to live right by it, where it's mostly alway windy in Autumn, winter and Spring, a friend calls this seaside wind of a ours a 'lazy wind' as it dosen't go around, it goes right through you. Love the hat too.xxxxxx

Lovely holiday pics.....oh how I miss the sea,but your post has delivered a good dose of coastal loveliness.....thankyou !! Did you get any good shopping done in Bridport this, time ?

When we visit Dorset (about 6 times a year!) I always imagine myself living in the pink house and also that little lodge at Hive Beach.
Lovely pics.

Very nice pics.

The picture of the beach and the cliffs, was that taken at West Bay? I looks so much like the cliffs in the itv series Broadchurch.

I always love stopping by and reading your post. The pictures are really great and I lost myself in your story telling. I have never been to where you live or the surrounding area so the photos are a great way to showcase it. I could just imagine what its like.

Thanks for sharing :)
