Day Fifteen of this new year and it feels like everything is moving at 136 miles per hour. At least 136 mph, possibly more on busy days. Talk about speedy. The packing away of Christmas (which was only a mere 8 days ago) feels like it happened a long, long time ago. Ancient history.
We have already celebrated a Birthday here in the Attic when Little B turned three years old on the 5th. It was a noisy, joyous affair, a truly happy gathering of good people, food, fizz and chocolate cake. Awwwwww that boy! At three years old he is absolutely bloomin' great. Captivating, charming, chatty and cutesome.
Once Christmas went back into it's six boxes and three bags, I went straight out and purchased a pot of hyacinths and a bunch of daffodils to welcome in the start of the new floral year. The tulips were a surprise gift from my friend and neighbour at number 18, and it has been delightful to have these flowers filling the room with colour and scent.
I've been busy with my hook too, working up those colourful granny squares in any spare moment. I love it when the end of a big project finally comes within sight (I am almost at the border-making stage folks!)
The snow came yesterday, and the 136mph rush suddenly slowed to a slow, white shuffle. In the morning we walked to school as great fat, fluffy, feathery flakes tumbled down. It made the town look so peaceful and beautiful (the above picture is the main town car park, practically deserted).
Little B and I ambled our slow pace up to the Church at the very top of town, as we do every Monday morning, for half an hour of Mad Noise Musical Tots. The church looked soooo pretty in the snow I thought.
Today has been bright and sunny and the view from the Attic window of the snowy hills in the afternoon light was stunning.
I have to say, I do love it when our seasons in the UK work properly. When Winter means snow and Summer means sun. It feels right and good to have snow in January.
Cold though. Yeah, it has been a tad chilly this week. It's been absolutely perfect blanket-making weather though, so cosy and heart-warming. Just a shame there are needy children who have to be taken to school or else I would not be moving my butt from the fireside.

~sigh~ So beautiful! All we have here in Virginia, USA is rain...rain...rain.

Hi Lucy,
Happy birthday to Little B; 3 is such a cute age - enjoy him!
I'm in the southern hemisphere in sunny and extremely hot Western Australia, where we've just had a couple of heat waves come through, so we're averaging temperatures of about 36/37 to 42 deg C. I too am crocheting at night on my Attic -inspired Granny Stripe blanket and I'm a sight trying to keep as little of the blanket on me as possible as I crochet!
My son, who's 17, is in the UK on a Drama tour at present and is having a whale of a time in the snow - his first experience of real snow, so keep it coming, for him at least!
Thank you for your inspiring blog, which I adore ~ Lilian, Perth

Sounds much like life around here :) Decorations down, only one giant bag for us, school run back on, "baby" about to turn three... and SNOW.
(I'm knitting in front of the fire though!)

I like your snowy church photo. I've been in the church myself and seen the green man carving high up on the beam. Although a pagan sign it shows the age of the church and a sign of the changing seasons.
As you said , its so nice to have the snow in January. I hope we get a sunny Summer too, this year. Thank you for your lovely blog and your attic view through the seasons.

I miss my fireplace!
I did manage to crochet a new scarf yesterday. I'll be tweaking the pattern to my liking now *grin*
What a stunning view you have! We are finally expecting some snow this week. As I have to work the rest of this week, I'm still prayng we don't get too much as I hate to drive in the white stuff. But it is pretty look at!

Hi Lucy: I pinned your picture of the roses on my Pinterest page. I couldn't resist. I'm a quilter, not even a little bit of a yarn addict; but I could be, just from watching you. Most of your pictures make my heart leap for joy of the colors (colours). It's such a treat to visit. Come by and visit my blog if you have a minute. I'll make you a cup of chamomile tea and we can munch a scone together. Thank you. Kathie in Washington State, USA.

Hi Lucy, I'm new to your blog by about a week and I've been absolutely glued to it! There is so much to catch up on and I'm enjoying every spare moment I have to take a boo. I'm at the "put the squares together stage" of my project. I love color as well and so am so pleased to have found you and your friends to inspire me to do great colorful things!!!

What bliss to have snow! I love your photos. PLease can you send me some of the real stuff to help me cool down lol. It was 31 C here in New Zealand a few days ago. But I can't really complain, I had fun romping in a field with a herd of alpacas this week which I will be posting about soon. Enjoy your snuggling by the fire xxx Rose.

Wonderful snow pictures! The church is beautiful. I live on the coast in South Carolina, USA and our temps have been in the 70's. I know we don't usually get snow, but a little winter weather would be a welcome treat. It seems very wrong to have to turn on the air conditioner in January. Have a great day!--Janet

Lovely photos, snow looks so lovely, we have had a week of 30+ degrees here in NZ, still managing to crochet though, enjoying making Flower patch Cushion, much cooler than the quilting I used to do. Thanks Lucy I love you blog and look every day. Carolyn.
