This week I'm back on track with my ripple journey after my Jolly Festive detour.
It's been absolutely delightful to re-connect with these soft waves of warm, woolly colour.
I had a huge amount of fun creating new festive things, but oh I have missed the easy, soothing rhythm of the ripple.
It's like coming home when you've been off on an exciting little jaunt.
Warm, comforting and familiar.
I'm not very much further on from my last ripple update in mid November, but I have now managed to incorporate all the colours, including that rather tricksy deep maroon.
It's proving to be a massive challenge working the colours in random sequence, it's not as easy as it seems. There's a continuous attempt to balance it all out in pleasing harmony whilst not making it too rainbowy, if you get that. A certain amount of discord is necessary, but it's actually quite hard to relax and let it happen.
But I'm enjoying the challenge enormously, it's keeping me on my creative, colourful toes. Speaking of which, do you like my turquoise shoes and my new spotty green socks? Just this very instant realised that my socks match the jug on my table. How funny.

Beautiful!
I'm going to undertake my first crochet project in the next while.
A granny stripe blanket for home snuggles on the couch :) I am a total beginner, and hopefully going to my first crochet/knit group soon.
I feel a ripple will follow on shortly afterwards.
Love your socks. :)

Lovely socks, great ripple which I'll have to try sometime, though I'm having enough trouble with my 'simple circles' at the moment. Sigh.
(See blog if you're curious. It's not pretty.)

Lovely work, and so even. I made one in the same zig-zag pattern, but it came out very uneven. I still like it and would like to be much better at crochet, especially looking at your work!

Wow Lucy! I just love this blanket! And your socks,too...
Could you write down the sequence of the stiches (dc etc.) of the differt rows?

Swit-swooooo! LOVE the socks (the jug matches a mug of mine too) and the ripple is just GLORIOUS! I have just posted pics of my baby ripple in the flickr group, gearing up for a grown-up ripple over at www.inverleith.blogspot.com. I am struggling internally with colour sequencing, glad I am not the only one. Random is the way forward!

Just love these colors! Why am I never this creative about using color? Beautiful!

Thanks for inspiring my own ripple journey! But I think I need to buy a pair of inspirational socks. ;-)
Just one question - how do you choose your colours randomly? Pick the colour names out of a hat? No 'rules' at all? Even something like no repeating colours within the last 5 rows or something like that?

WOW!Love it.I've started a new granny baby ripple for a friend. Her choice of colors;pink, black and white.I've never used black before in a baby blanket,it's interesting.I like to work on several projects at a time,it keeps it fresh.Like now, I have vintage inspired pot holders,Valentines presents, butterflies for a frame and a spring flower vine for my porch swing all in the works.Thats just the crochet projects!lol Lovin' the socks,I have a new green spotty vase that matches them.:)Have a good one!

I too struggle with discord - you really have to work at being random it's not in your nature!
looks amazing - off to pin!
