About Me

  • Hello! Thank you so much for visiting me in the Attic, it's lovely to see you. My name is Lucy and I'm a happily married Mum with three children. We live in a cosy terraced house on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales in England which we are slowly renovating and making home. I have a passion for crochet and colour and love to share my creative journey. I hope you enjoy your peek into my colourful little world x

Your pictures are delightful. I absolutely love the snake on the radiator. He has a kind of happy, smug looking face. My cats like to sleep on the tops of radiators. I like to imagine that the stripey snake sneaked up there when no-one was looking.

Fabulous crochet as always.
Best wishes

I really love reading your blog - you have such a beautiful home!

In fact, your blog has inspired me to start blogging. I totally agree with your reason - it's like a diary with photos. Lovely to look back at (or I imagine it will be, in the future).

Thank you for your blog - it's like a little ray of sunshine! (and a good source of crotchet patterns!)

Thanks for sharing your home with us - it's lovely to hear day to day tales from your family life and the simple pleasures that we can all gain from creating and taking a little time out to observe and enjoy. Home is a very special place - lovely pics - I enjoy sharing your blog!

Totally delightful!! And I so enjoy the sneak peak into your bright colors, warm wollies, and pretty flowers. Never fails to make me smile!

I've been following your blog since 2008 and have been so inspired many times to add more colour to my life, crochet a little cutey, or just sit & enjoy a "scrummy" mag & cuppa. Your blog inspired me to finally begin my own a few months ago. Thank you for sharing with us your musings & lovely creativity, Lucy! You are far away from me geographically, but a blessing to my life.

Memories are the most important Lucy, thank you for sharing your lovely world!

Hi Lucy your pictures are so colourful and happy. Not only do you share your crochet skills but you give us a little peek into your everyday life and your lovely family. These snippets interspersed with your crochet is what makes your blog so interesting to me. We should all remember to appreciate the simple things in life - thank you for the reminder!

I look forward to reading your bloggy updates it always adds a splash of colour to the day.I'm fairly new to blogging and reading yours encourages me to continue.Sue

The little feet, the adorning daylight, the warm coziness, the sweet toys, the playful colors, the sweet smells and all the sweet moments captured so well here are what make it all so sweet. Thanks for this post. I also started the blog for me as to document and gives me a sense of purpose. I have lost my job and there are hidden pleasures and blessing i was missing out on. Thanks again for putting a smile on me.

Your blog is my absolute favorite. I love how you enjoy and have great enthusiasm for the simple and beautiful things in life.

I haven't been reading your blog for that long so I have been going back and slowly reading your archives. I am up to January 2011 now. I am a little sad because I will be caught up soon but I know I will have knew posts like these to look forward to.

It is very cold in Maine today but seeing these colorful and cozy pictures have made it less so. Thank you.

Your blog is fabulous! It was one of my main reasons for both learning to crochet and starting my own blog, so thank you so very much for doing it, and giving so many people such joy.

Dear Amiga Lucy,
I’m back in town after enjoying some family time. I’m going to catch up with you latest posts very soon. I just wanted to let you know that I do really enjoy reading your blog. You’re truly committed and passionate to it. I can hear you voice and most of the time, I share your take about homemade things and your worldview. The way you put words on the page, is very special and I like it a lot. I’d love to start blogging about my passion for small simple delights that make me happy and to have a creative outlet for my ideas, maybe this year. :o) Feliz 2012!
Take care! Hasta Luego,
Gloria x

I love that you can document all the wonderful moments, events for your little people. It is a wonderful time for technology. I'll be 40 in a few months and when I think back (I was raised in a Military Family from the United States) how neat it would have even been just to have had a digital camera back then, and not been just a "child" because when I think back now I wish we could have captured more of the everyday moments, scenes as I also lived abroad in Italy however I was too young to appreciate that, and Japan which I remember but was only second and third grade. Then living in Hawaii was amazing, have some picturs, but not like you could have now in the digital age!!! So in all my rambling I just think it is neat that you document this for your children, who from what you write about them sound like when they get older they will be interested in seeing their childhood thru your eyes. It is all very special. Me not being able to have children (not by choice), I just love the glimpse into your world, and having been in the education field of young children (ages 4-5) for a few years before having to leave due to health reasons, just really appreciate what you are capturing for your little people, it is something that I would do if I had children.
I also appreciate how you share your crafts with your readers. I am currently working on a grannystripe afghan, I chained the 240 that you used, as the person I am making it for is quite a tall person!!!
Just wanted to let you know I appreciate all you share in blogland. And from reading your blog I pay more attention and appreciate the everyday things.

So many beautiful photos, so. much. lovely. crochet! I wish you and the family every health, wealth and happiness for 2012 X

Well I'm just one person who is truly grateful to you that you started your blog. It was the first one I ever read, before then I didn't really know what they were, had the impression they were 'vanity vehicles'. I soon found they weren't, they are inspiring, happy, colourful, wonderful places to visit.
Your photos of your wonderful home are just stunning, thank you for sharing your happy place.
Carol xx
